Crowne Plaza Paris Republique
- What's Included
We were on the 4th floor and the Wifi was terrible. The bathrooms are soooo small. The beds were comfy and the hotel is beautiful, clean and the staff is very nice!! The taxi stand is on the left as you walk out the front door and that is very convenient. It was our first trip to France and I highly recommend this hotel. It is very close to many, many restaurants and cafes. There is a beautiful fountain and city plaza across the street. It is great to people watch from this plaza. The hotel is quiet, smells wonderful (some type of scent in the lobby). The flat taxi fee to the airport is $50.00. Check out this hotel!
We decided to pay for a nicer, larger, Club Room, for a week, so we could comfortably get some work done, and research stuff to do in Paris, but the wifi was down for 6 of the 7 days we stayed. They kept telling us it would be "working later today" but it never did, not anywhere in the hotel. This is unacceptable for a hotel of this stature and price. As an apology they offered a "free breakfast in the room", even though breakfast was included already -- this was insulting. A free breakfast doesn't help me check my emails! Unbelievable that they didn't have a back up wifi in the lobby or bar. The staff as polite about it, but who cares, the connection was down, you can be as nice as you want about it, it either works or not. Not fair to be paying this much for a room.
Great location ! Nice hotel the room was spacious but didn't like the view of the inside very small courtyard :( Also the quilts on the bed were too thick for summer . It was too hot and the air-conditioning didn't work at times. The WiFi didn't work very well but overall a good stay was had by all .
A great hotel to stay, everything it's close, the subway, and very important Plaza next to the hotel, and a few blocks from Palies Garnier and excellent building and the concierge a very good one because I just asked to make a reservation for dinner and he send me to a great restaurant with a lot history
Stayed here for six nights and thought is was a good value. It is priced (at least by the sites I looked at) on the lower end of a Parisian four star hotel. To echo what has been said by others, it does need updating - both in HVAC where the AC is pretty spotty but works at times and not others, carpeting, and the lounge area. The hotel, though, has a charm to it being in an old building on the Plaza de Republique. Staff was very helpful, quite accomodating. I did reserve a club level room (will get to that later) and they came by twice a day to drop off coffee, tea and other items like a biscuit/cookie item. The room was clean and the cleaning crew was outstanding. The drain was very slow but somebody tried to fix it one day (we did not have to raise a complaint but I think somebody cleaning our room noticed it as well). Front desk very helpful and informative. Dining staff helpful when the breakfast buffet was very busy and we needed a table for four - they tried right away to get us seated with our food. And the concierge was very good at recommending local eateries.Club level (in theory/idea) was good but in execution could be better. Drinks are not permitted to leave the club - which I can understand for items such as alcohol or sodas. However, water was another story. Water was served in Liter bottles to pour - which is great for the club lounge but should be provided in bottles to take to your room for later to enjoy as well as the club is not open 24 hours and is located on the ground floor where the club level rooms are on the second floor. Snacks were of good quality as were the pastries. Drink selection was good. Seating was very good. I did like the foreign newspapers they brought in.Internet was okay - good at times and not good at others. Kept on kicking you off to re-join the Crowne Plaza network. When it was working, it was very fast and easy to use.Food buffet was also included in my room charge - it was a very good buffet and had a lot of options for everybody. Even though it was included for a fee (I believe $20 per night more for the four of us), I preferred the local bakeries as they had amazing pain aux chocolates that were incredible. Total cost for 4 pain aux chocolates was 4 euro (about $4.50) and my family preferred that. So in retrospect, I would go to a local bakery and eat breakfast and save the additional money - not that they buffet was not good, but the bakeries were exceptional in the area. Our room overlooked the square - very noisy at night with the demonstrations - would request a courtyard room. Outside of that - the room size was good, the double beds were very comfortable. The room had a safe that could be programmed and that was helpful. Nice and spacious room - tv was great as well.Location was good - not in a touristy area but the train lines from Republique are quick everywhere and we took the metro everywhere in Paris without difficulty (note an Apple watch works great with the Apple transit maps to help guide you around - and probably an android watch does the same with google maps). This feature was nice at night as it was not overly crowded and the local restaurants were very good and affordable. If I had to do it over again, I would stay here in a courtyard room - not do the breakfast buffet due to the other bakeries or consider hotels in the Marais 0.5 miles away. I think this hotel though is pretty nice for families with the two double beds, nice selection of food choices around, welcoming staff and overall enjoyed my stay here.
