This hotel gave us a few headaches but eventually semi resolved. I say semi as obviously there was not much that could be done about interior wear. First, we travelled to this hotel right when they merged with Hilton Family so staff was not fully aware about HHonors member benefits. We almost lost our reservation because they attempted to charge our cards several times after we had already paid for rooms and my bank flagged them because of it. Of course it was resolved but a headache when traveling in Europe and have to be resolving these kind of issues. Upon arriving we where placed in separate floors. Out of all the hotels we stayed during our Europe trip staff was considerate enough to see we where traveling as family and made sure to place us on same floors or even next to each other ahead of time and without us requesting it. It was resolved a day later but still a headache to have to be moving luggage and so on. The concierge is first class and very helpful and attentive. Honestly it was Thanks to them that we decided to complete our stay here. Our rooms had a bad odor to them and the beds where not the most comfortable. I will say, it is perfectly situated to great shopping strip and food but I would think twice to stay here again myself. Also one of our rooms was a double twin bed, typical size to European hotels but was nice to have French windows that opened to the courtyard. Our other room was A Queen bed Suite and was huge compared to other room. Lots of room to move around and relax. If it wasn't for the old odor we would have done more in room lounging but we could only handle it for a little before having to leave room. Every night we would have to deodorize room to sleep confortable. We stayed here in July, so maybe now it's been updated so only speaking on our experience per our stay. Of course the General Manager took care of us very well like the Concierge did but overall staff came across a little stiff with back counter power trip. So we asked for the top to get things resolved. If traveling on business or short day trip stay here otherwise if staying for longer than 4 days consider something more central or renovated.
After our red-eye flight we were grateful to have our room ready early. It was definitely small (like most European hotel rooms) and we would pay the extra $ next time for something a bit bigger, but the location was perfect. The neighbourhood was quiet, but close to restaurants, shops and a Monoprix down the street. The staff was helpful and the breakfast (we had it included) was the perfect way to start our busy day of touring each day. There was a lot of variety, but I could eat those croissants and pains au chocolat all day. We wouldn't hesitate to stay there again if we we found ourselves in Paris in the future.
Room was in dire need of remodel (which was to occur the week after we left). The fitness center did not include a treadmill. The Staff was VERY good. So hopefully after the remodel (starts 10/31/16) the rooms will be updated and more comfortable. Suggest you call before booking for actual equipment that is in the fitness center - when we were went, there was no tread mill. The location is good - right in the middle of the city. A train ride away from local sites and the hop-on-hop-off.
This hotel was closing for major renovations a week after we left so I won't point out the obvious. However, I will point out suggestions to improve it when it re-opens.We stayed 4 nights in a Rooftop Suite. The views from the rooms were fantastic. In the bedroom our window had a picture perfect view of the Eiffel Tower and in the living area we looked out on Sacre Coeur.I certainly hope that the renovations will include remodeling and improving the elevators. It was quite frightening at times riding in the elevator because of how it jerked and made so much noise. My 10 year old granddaughter refused to ride in it and walked up and down the 7 flights of stairs the whole time we were there. Our room was kept clean and the bed was comfortable. The bathtub (no stand alone shower) was quite dangerous to get in and out of. It had high sides and nothing to grab on to. The bottom of the tub did not have any traction so it was very slippery. I hope that that is improved in the renovations. They did not provide us bars of soap--only shower gel which left a residue feeling on your skin. There was no WIFI on the entire 7th floor which was extremely frustrating. The hotel staff informed us that since the hotel was closing the following week they were not going to have anyone come out and fix it. The buffet breakfast was not good and definitely below Hilton standards by both offerings and taste. This needs improvement. The front desk gentleman who works the night shift and early mornings was quite rude. Three times he never acknowledge me as I came in and sat down right in front of him. The female front desk staff were much nicer. The concierge staff was helpful for the most part. Beware that the hotel is not on a main street so you can not flag down a cab. You have to ask the concierge to call one for you and every time the taxi added a 4 Euro additional fee to every cab ride that the concierge called for us. So, if you want to avoid this additional fee you should walk out to one of the main streets and flag one. Because we were in a 2 floor suite it was frustrating and dangerous at times when we came in after dark and the downstairs light switch would not work from downstairs and you had to walk up the steep stairs in complete darkness. The hotel needs to fix this in the renovations so that the downstairs light switch will work even if it was turned off upstairs. I will definitely give this hotel another chance after renovations.
Room was okay not up to date, but had a nice view! Make sure you have the right converter for plugs, if you are traveling from USA recommend using a dual voltage straightener or else you will burn it out or possibly fry your hair, same goes for your hair dryer they have one in Bathroom. Weather was a cold but warm in sun.
