Hotel Astor Saint-Honore
- What's Included
- All Inclusive Features
I stayed here as the Astor Saint-Honore was convenient for a business meeting the next day and is a member of the Hilton group, as I am in their loyalty scheme.. It was a mistake. The hotel is far below the standard to be expected of a Hilton. It is due to close shortly for several months for refurbishment, but since it is still charging full prices it is fair to review it. The refurbishment is very badly needed, probably 5 years past when it should have happened. Rooms desperately need an upgrade in décor, maintenance, facilities. The staff need to sharpen up: check out was a nightmare and at breakfast many plates on the buffet remained empty for far too long. Most annoyingly the hotel has by far the most restrictive wi-fi internet filter I have ever come across anywhere, blocking very large numbers of sites that are not only perfectly legal, but even perfectly "normal". I would not stay here again.
I too hope it will be better after renovation, but not so much for the room quality. It was nice, fairly clean, and the bed and furniture was comfy. The bathtub couldn't hold any water to take a bath (the stopper wouldn't seal and the water pressure was poor) and the bathroom sink wouldn't drain - the stopper was disconnected from the faucet so no toothpaste or anything would drain. Guess I should have taken a bath in the sink. The housekeepers were a noisy bunch - when they weren't slamming doors, furniture, trash cans, etc. they were on their cell phones in the rooms or loudly speaking to each other. ALL DAY LONG. Seriously the noise level was incredible for a hotel of this caliber. I expect inconsiderate guests, but the housekeepers? Should be more respectful of do not disturb signs. I even said "Hey! There are people sleeping here!" to try to elicit some quiet but it was ignored by the housekeepers. The guests. Guess they live in a vacuum, because on more than one occasion during my stay I had one step out into the hallway on their cell phone, talking DIRECTLY into my doorway (with the do not disturb sign on it). I opened the door to my room and glared at them, seriously? They went away after finishing their convo.
A friend booked us here for one night. Wow! What a surprise, when we checked-in and were given a Penthouse Suite. The room was beautiful and spacious. The wrap aroundterrace gave us views of the Eiffel Tower and Montmartre. The breakfast was quite goodtoo. The staff was excellent, especially Pascal our concierge. His dinner recommendation, Pomze, was just what we wanted, delicious and filling and price fixed. After renovations we will certainly try this Hotel again.
Great location for museums, galleries, shopping, sightseeing, etc. Hotel was quiet except for children shreiking outside at 1.00a.m., and somebody running up and down the corridor outside at 2.00a.m., followed by the alarm clock of the room next door (620 - we were in 619) at 6.30a.m. later the same Saturday night/Sunday morning!!Breakfast was delicious with lots of choice from scambled eggs, tomatoes, mushrooms, bacon and sausages to breads, pastries and yoghurts, and cold meats and cheeses. We didn't have lunch there, so can't comment on that, but we did try to have dinner in the hotel one Sunday night, but were told they weren't serving dinner in the hotel restaurant because they were closing down for the renovation at the end of October, and there is literally NOTHING and NOWHERE in local walking distance to get ANYTHING to eat on a Sunday night round there, so BE WARNED!!
Nestled in quiet street but a block from main street with restaurants and subway station. This hotel will go under renovation in October. Even though it's an older hotel, the appearance and condition of the room is quite good. Room is just the right size and good amenities. Bathroom's towel rack is quite dangerous due to location. Window facing the garden courtyard is beautiful and relaxing. Elevator is small but walking up stairs not a bad idea. Staff friendly and knowledgeable with good advice. Breakfast buffet is excellent.
