Hotel De Roubaix
- What's Included
I was a bit worried after reading some reviews about size of the hotel rooms and noise, but after all it wasn't bad at all. We had room No.20, meant for 3 person, it was not the biggest room we've seen, but big enough for two of us. Room was clean and nice, cleaned everyday, everyday fresh towels. Room has no aircondition, but it was not hot room, so we did'nt need it. Noise from the street cannot be heard when you close window. You can hear some noise from other rooms, like almost in every old building, but it is not that bad (you can't hear regular talk, just some extra noise like loud phone rings etc.).Stuff was great, almost everyone speaks English fluently. They were helpful and nice to us.Breakfat was also good, we didn't need anything more.Hotel is 10-15 min of walk to Louvre or Notre Dame, 2 min walk to subway station and about 40 min from CDG (RER B and line 4 metro), so the location is excellent.
Convenient location on edge of tourist area. Close to metro, supermarket, bistros. Good quality guests. Decent breakfast, includes, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, cheeses, variety of coffee, juice machine, cereal, etc. Quite small, but clean room & bathroom. Lots of hot water. Comfortable bed. Fresh towels daily. Staff are friendly, helpful & speak English. Enjoyed 2 week stay.
I booked one night here at the last minute on Booking.com -- about 10 AM -- and was pleasantly surprised to be allowed to check in early when I arrived with my bag at about 12:30. That's awesome. The staff here -- all English-speaking -- are very friendly, from the front desk staff to the housekeeping staff and this kindness really makes for a pleasant experience. The hotel has a "crazy" whimsical design that is fun, especially as a child of the 1980s. My room had a "My Little Pony" poster and, actually, it worked. The hotel is colorful and fun. My double room -- accessed by a lift -- was a normal size for an older Paris hotel and very clean. It opened onto a quiet courtyard. It was fairly hot when I was there, but the room was comfortable with enough with the fan blowing in through the large window. The mattress was comfortable, but the pillows were really hard, and I would have preferred softer ones. The bathroom was clean and had a shower with good water pressure and no shortage of hot water. Except for a time when construction interrupted the WiFi, it was quite fast -- actually much faster than many Paris "luxury" hotels. Unlike many other Paris hotels, the television had BBC World, which I appreciated. In the morning, I was offered a small bottle of wine upon departure, but declined as I would be traveling to Spain with a small bag. Instead, the host offered me access to the breakfast area for a free coffee and croissant, which I appreciated! The location is excellent, a couple minutes walking distance to a couple of metro lines, and 15-20 minutes walking from anywhere else one would want to visit in Paris. It's also very convenient for Orly airport, because the 4 metro line is around the corner, which takes you straight to the Orlybus, no crowded RER trip necessary. I'm glad I chose the hotel and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
Hotel de Roubaux is a budget hotel in the central parts of Paris. They really give you your moneys worth! The hotel is clean and has cool and quirky decor, and the staff is really nice! Our room (nr 53) was located in the top of the building and it was both quite large and quiet.
Overall this was fine, location is great near the metro / supermarket but the room / bathroom were tiny. We were on the 6th floor so the elevator was essentially but was extremely cramped and took forever. Unfortunately there was no aircon but it wasn't advertised as having any so that was an oversight on our part. They seemed to be doing renovations so their was constantly wires all over the floor which were a trip hazard. The staff were fine. We had requested a late check out but then had 2 people knock and without receiving an answer burst into the room while we were in bed. We then received a phone call asking us to checkout but I then reminded them we had been granted a late checkout and then we didn't have any more disturbances. Overall was fine, if looking for a romantic getaway this probably isn't the place.
