In short: friendly staff, perfectly located, nice neighborhood, cozy and clean rooms. We had a quite room at the fifth floor with view to the eifel tower. Would recommend this hotel to anybody for his stay in Paris.
We stayed just for one night but we have only good memories from this lovely hotel. We have been several times to Paris but never in Montmartre, so this time I was searching a hotel with a reasonable price in a place that we have never stayed before. We have chosen this hotel mostly for the good comments of previous clients, as well the photos from their site. It is very close to the metro and from the 'butte de Montmartre' with the magnificent view to Paris. When we went there the reception was perfect and to our surprise we were upgraded to a better room. So we were installed in a room with a roof-terrasse with a beautiful view over the windmills of Montmartre and the Parisian streets. The small bathroom or the noise (sometimes) in the corridor didn't bother us at all, really normal for this type of ancient buildings-it's Paris after all ;)Next day, they offered to keep our luggages safe so we could discover this extraordinary neighborhood, it was in the middle of an ordinary winter week so the tourists were very few and we really enjoyed it.This hotel is an excellent choice, I totally recommend this hotel even though I would prefer to keep it for myself.. it's sure we will go back.
I stayed at Hotel des Arts - Montmartre from 8/4-8/11, as a solo female traveler. I had a pleasant experience, overall, but I am not sure this is what I was expecting when I had booked it! Hotel des Arts sits on the quiet street of Rue Tholozé, and is a 30 second walk to Rue des Abbesses, where you'll find MANY culinary options. Two weeks before my arrival, I had called the hotel to ask about early check-in, as my flight was landing at 7 in the morning Paris time. I was told that there would be no early check-in, which was a bit off-putting, as I was even willing to pay an extra night to have the comfort of a room ready for me when I arrived. The hotel is cute, and I am lucky to have been in Paris during a week when the weather was unpredictable and fall-like. The days I was lucky enough to be graced with good weather, however, I did my best to stay out of the hotel, as the rooms are not air conditioned. Their small size coupled with lack of air conditioning makes for a rather unpleasant experience! When I *was* inside during bad weather, I'd opened my window. I faced other rooms, and could therefore hear everyone else's conversations echoing throughout! Since I was traveling alone, my room size was not a big deal, but I had booked a double room and it was very small -- I am not sure how more than one person can fit there. The showers are also incredibly inconvenient, and there is very little place to move in them. Hôtel des Arts felt a bit more like a high-end hostel than it did like a boutique hotel, but that gave it its charm. The front desk staff was wonderful (Charles and Michael were particularly helpful, so je vous remercie!). The other guests who I had the pleasure of having coffee with downstairs were all very friendly and open to talking about what they had been up to in the city, and to giving me suggestions. FYI - there is free coffee, croissants, pain au chocolat, orange juice, water, and coca cola downstairs from 3-11 PM. It serves as a nice middle of the day break, and gives you just enough energy to be able to go out and see more of Paris! What confused me about this hotel was the breakfast structure. Breakfast is 12 euros ($14.16 USD/$18 CAD) per person if you have not booked a room with this option. There are many award winning bakeries within a 5 minute walk, where you can buy a bunch of stuff for way cheaper, and have enough to feed a family. The seated service at the cafés right across the street also offer 5 to 7 euro specials per person. The one convenience is that breakfast opens earlier at the hotel than it does at the cafés, so if you are getting up early to sightsee, it might make sense. Hotel des Arts is a great place to be to discover Paris for the first time. Oh, and if it matters -- the entire staff speaks English, and some even speak other languages!
My girlfriend and I stayed for two nights and what an amazing stay we had. We were greeted by Maud who went above and beyond and even upgraded us to a balcony room as it was our anniversary. The room was a nice size, very clean and had everything you need. Great for a short trip. Every member of staff were incredibly friendly which we love and helped us with everything we needed. The area it is in Montmartre was perfect. Outside is a street full of Parisian cafes where you can sit with a coffee and watch the world go by. A 20 minute walk from the Eurostar and easy to get anywhere in Paris. We walked everywhere!! Overall we will be back again and have recommended it to all our friends and family.
We stayed for a couple of nights and had a lovely time. The hotel is very central, only minutes away from the Metro. The room was small but very clean and very comfortable. The staff couldn't have been more friendly or helpful.Would definitely stay again.
