Hotel Magenta Paris
- What's Included
I stayed here last month with a travel group. When we arrived, the hotel elevator was broken, but the hotel went out of its way to make sure we had help carrying our luggage upstairs. Their bellhop Jean-Baptiste was incredible - he hoisted each suitcase over his head and marched up and down the stairs with a smile on his face. The other staff was very helpful and friendly, as well. The rooms were clean and simply decorated. The location is fantastic - it is a 2 minute walk from the Jacques Bonsergent (line 5) Métro stop, has a grocery store and pharmacy across the street, a variety of restaurants nearby, and there is a public fountain to fill your water bottles right by the Métro stop. It is also a couple of blocks away (about a 5-7 minute walk) from the Gare de l'Est. My only complaint was the WiFi was unbearably slow...I am a writer/blogger and it was very difficult to publish my work there. I have had this problem all over Europe, though, and despite that hitch, I would absolutely stay here again.
This hotel would have been given a much higher rating had the room been sound proofed and we had not been in the room directly opposite the lift. We wanted an early night (11pm) as we were hoping to get up early to get a good spot at the tour de france which we had specifically come to Paris to see. After going to sleep we were continually woke. up by the lift, it was unbelieveably load and we could hear every movement. Not only this but there seemed to be a constant stream of people going to their rooms extremely late at night. In a hotel you expect that it would be sufficiently sound proofed so you didnt hear other guests and the lift all night long. I can usually sleep through anything, but this was unbearable. It ended with me going out and asking other guests passing by to be quieter because they were extremely loud, which was highly embarassing. The lift continued late into the night and I had to call reception to ask thrm to do something about it, as we just could not sleep.it seemed as though they switched off the lift after this as it did stop. The next day, nobody offered an apology, and we had to request the lift to be turned off again the next night. We were told it was loud the first nightdue to a large late night group arrival, but this is not good enough, all it required was simple planning so that we weren't in the room that the large groop had to pass. The bathroom also had a leak next to the toilet which smelt bad. It wasn't resolved after we raised the issue.I wouldn't stay here again as I feel we couldn't even get the barr minimum if a good night sleep in this hotel. On the positive side the room was fine and the reception was well decorated, and it was great to have access to free tea/coffee in the reception. The hotel location is also great.Such a shame that we had a bad experience. Avoid room 606 if you stay here.
We stayed here for two nights..to celebrate my Gf bday in Paris.. the staff an service was very nice.. the rooms were very small.. wifi is too slow and would take ages to connect.. towels are not soft at all very old probably dint change over months..breakfast was ok. We had 103,108.. ac never worked in 103 also bathroom handle came in hand and beds were not comfortable at all two beds joined and we could feel the gap between sunk all the time..we hardly spent time in the room but rooms have safe, Portable fans, tv, hairdryer etc. Wouldn't recommend..
I recommend this hotel 100%. It's centrally located close to metro and main train stations. I had a triple room as I was traveling with my two teenagers and it was very comfortable, beautifully decorated and very clean. The public areas were just as nice. It even has a small outdoor terrace if you like to relax. During our stay they offered free pretzels (the best) and beer in the afternoon to the their guests. The staff was friendly, courteous and always willing to help us get around the city. They even made sure we didn't leave without an umbrella, which are readily available, one afternoon. I can't wait to go back to Paris and will definitely stay here again. Thank you all for the warm hospitality!!
This used to be a great hotel, until April 2017 when it was taken over by Happy Culture. We were there with a student/parent group for three nights. Only saving grace - it's a non-smoking hotel. What went wrong: staffed by interns, only one on duty at a time/no ac in most rooms/elevator broken for most of stay/very little water pressure/ 3 rooms lost electricity/Highest person in charge was out of country and couldn't help us. I stood for 2 1/2 hours on our last night to make sure elevator would be working when we were leaving in the morning (had participants on 7th floor with luggage). New manager, Hélène, would not answer phone calls until 10:15 pm and finally told Mathias how to fix elevator. Why she wouldn't do so for the previous two days, no one will ever know. Elodie, Mathias and Caijine were very helpful and we never blamed them. Elodie was an intern left alone, in charge, Mathias and Caijine had not been there in a very long time, but Hélène couldn't find anyone else to work and called her last minute. None of this was their fault. Mismanagement on Hélène's part has assured me that I will not be recommending what was once a good hotel. Lobby staff did everything they could to help, but stay was horrible.
