Hotel Regina Paris
- What's Included
Visited for dinner with a guest of the hotel.Had a lovely starter of scallops then a lamb main course. The scallops were lush but sadly my medium to well done lamb shank was rare & not edible. We were in a hurry so didn't get a chance to complain. Won't be back in a hurry!!
Spent 8 nights, 3 of those the air conditioning was broken. The pump made loud crashing noises, waking me two mornings. When I just couldn't take it anymore and spoke to the staff it was quickly repaired, no apology from management for the incredible disturbance. That evening housekeeping forgot the bottles of water that go with turn down service. I asked the front desk for a bottle of water. The lady told me their would be a charge. She was shocked when I was confused that they were going to charge me for a bottle of WATER after 3 days of broken a/c, 2 nights of major sleep disturbance and the forgotten water bottles. She brought the water and didn't charge me. The housekeeping staff is working very hard and is clearly understaffed. The hotel is clean but little details were constantly missed. The water, towels not replaced, turn down skipped completely, room not cleaned until 5pm etc. All this while the front desk is crawling with staff that doesn't have enough to do. Most are friendly but some are quite rude. The hotel is perfectly located on Rue de Rivoli beside the Louvre, the views of the Eiffel Tower are stunning. Room service is expensive but on time and excellent. Unless management changes I will not return to this lovely, well located hotel. There are just too many good options in Paris at this price point to tolerate these issues.
So I stayed here for five days on a business trip and have to say the bed was one of the best I have ever slept on. This is old world with every modern updated convenience brilliant service from the concierge the to house keeping. Not to mention that its located at one of the main entrances to the Tuileries Garden. A gem of a discovery was the sandwich croissant coffee place just down the block on Rue Rivoli called Happy Cafe.Great coffee unbelievable chocolate croissants the walk across to the gardens and enjoy.
I've already written a review for the Hotel Regina but we have just returned six months later and found considerable improvements to the breakfast arrangements which are well worth noting.First, the hotel itself. The building interior must surely make this one of the most beautiful Paris hotels with its magnificent Art Nouveau styling. The new seating layout in the dining room displays the window and mirror artwork to better effect and the lobby (which featured, briefly, in the first Jason Bourne film!) is just a delight to ponder awhile before setting out on the day’s adventures (I'm sitting there now writing this!) or after getting back in the evening. We were fortunate to be upgraded to a suite on this occasion. Like the room we had previously, the décor and furnishings were to a high standard. You would probably have to live in the suite for a month before you could work out the ambitious lighting arrangements! If you get out of bed at night, floor lighting automatically switches on to show the way to the bathroom. Cool! The room was provided with USB charging points as well as bedside power outlets to fit British and American plugs. Wifi was free and effective wherever I tried it. Rooms were light and airy and the air conditioning virtually silent. The presentation of a bowl of fruit shortly after our arrival was a nice touch. Room cleaning and turn-down service deserves a particular mention: the rooms were always pristine to return to. And what a joy to have a constant supply of fresh dry face cloths rather than having to do with a wet one for the rest of the day or even supply one of your own.And so to breakfast. The buffet selection was of a very high standard; the inclusion of a whole honeycomb was a novel touch. French bread was crisp and the selection of pastries spoiled us for choice. Coffee was excellent. But it's about ambiance, too. Catching breakfast in a local Parisienne boulangerie sounds romantic, but lingering over croissant, coffee and newspapers in a gorgeous period dining room will be our choice in future, if it can be at the Regina!
I stayed for 5 nights and loved it. The staff was wonderful. Very friendly and efficient. The rooms with Eiffel Tower views are special. I couldn't get enough of looking at the Eiffel Tower every night before bed and every morning when I woke up!Breakfast was very nice. Quality breads and pastries. The staff in the breakfast room were so helpful and kind. The convenient location is just steps from the 72 bus that can take you to the Eiffel Tower and Bateaux Mouches. The Tuileries Garden and Louvre are across the street and there are plenty of shops, patisseries and restaurants in the immediate area.Really loved my stay at the Regina Hotel!
