We had the opportunity of staying at Regina last October (2016). It was a great experience and we believe in our hearts that every other hotel will pale in comparison from this day forth. After all, where else you can have The Louvre, Tuileries and the Tour Eiffel at your balcony? If you want Paris at your feet, this is your place. The staff is extremely attentive and will go the distance to provide for your needs.
Just returning from a 5 night stay at the Hotel Regina. We stayed in a Prestige room, with a view of the Eiffel Tower. Lovely room, amenities, all the staff is friendly, helpful. The breakfast is very substantial. The location is across from the Louvre and Tuileries Garden, close to both the 1 and 7 Metro lines. Also a short walk to the Seine. We usually stay in the 6th so this was a nice change. Certainly would highly recommend.
We stayed in the Eiffel Tower Suite. What an amazing experience. Balcony all the way around, decent view of the Eiffel tower sparkling. Beautiful living room, outstanding bathroom with a steam shower. Walking distance from the Seine, the louvre, everything we wanted to see. Staff was really very friendly. I was worried because I am not great a French that they would be offended but they gave me points for trying. Concierge was super helpful. If you go to the Louvre, don't use the main entrance, walk across the street to the arch and turn right and take the secret tunnel that no one uses to get in. The café had some of the best food in totally French style which will not disappoint. Totally romantic and perfect first night in Paris. I really enjoyed watching all the beautiful Parisian people walking and shopping from my balcony.
Hotel ReginaMy wife and I stayed at the Hotel Regina for an extended autumn weekend in Paris by Eurostar. This is a beautiful hotel. Restored, they tell us, just recently this is a lovely example of Art Nouveau with notable features like the revolving front door and the beautiful windows throughout the public areas. We particularly loved sitting in the Reception area in the evenings after returning from dinner.Staff throughout the hotel were pleasant and helpful. The lady checking us in at reception actually took us to our room. This was 40 square metres including a large bathroom with bath and shower. The period décor and furnishings were exceptional. Everything you could want was available in the room and housekeeping was most attentive. Power sockets were well positioned and the air conditioning effective and almost silent. There was no meaningful view from the window and I would have preferred a little more natural light but it was totally silent at night. As you would expect the bed itself was most comfortable! If hotel breakfasts are important to you – and for us there is nothing quite like the luxury of pondering an extensive buffet and taking time over lots of coffee and newspapers - then the Regina breakfast experience may be disappointing. The choice was astonishingly limited for a hotel of this class with no muesli (which I like) and limited fresh fruit (which my wife majors on) and where was the expected crispy French baguette? The bacon was deliciously crispy and scrambled eggs creamy but there was no brown bread to toast to put the egg on. More seriously the scrambled egg was only warm and on the Sunday morning the chaffing disk had been turned off altogether leaving the egg almost cold. We pointed this out and the waiter switched it back on but hot food should be held at a higher temperature and if allowed to go cold should not be reheated. The Regina is a quality hotel with spacious rooms, attentive service and, architecturally, a feast for the eyes. But for a total luxury hotel experience we felt a little disappointed and in our judgement a thoroughly deserved 5 score is dragged down a point by a substandard breakfast experience.
This was (we think) our fourth stay at The Regina over the years, and the best. The recent renovation maintained the historic elegant charm of the hotel while adding comforts and, blessedly absolute quiet from the noisy streets outside. Perfect beds and bedding, nice amenities (robe, slippers, in-room coffee). Room service was prompt and well-prepared. The Louvre and Tuileries are across the street, and many rooms have views of the Eiffel Tower and Musee d'Orsay. Reception and concierges were helpful and always very friendly. Only disappointment: the free wi-fi worked inconsistently, but when it was good it was very good.
