Baddest experience ever! We went on a business trip at this hotel and we had a really bad experience. People from the reception are impertinent and useless. The internet is not working in the room, just in the reception. They told us "is working", without checking and left. Not even care about their clients. We choose the "prestige room" and we were surprised to find a WC smell inside. The people from the reception don't wear eccusons and they don't want to legitimate when you ask. Their explanation was "they don't need to because they are French", simple as that. So, we don't know who are we talking to. I don't know if this attitude is because we are from Romania, or this is the way they treat all the clients. I think you should be more carefully in choosing who is representing you in the front desk. For sure, not returning in this hotel. Poor services at expensive prices.
I got bitten by insects every night of our trip as service staff would come in during the day & leave the window open!On the days we wanted to sleep in, we put the privacy button on but got walked in on numerous times by staff, No privacy whatsoever!!!!
I stayed at this hotel recently for business and a mini-vacation. It's in an ideal location, close to the Opera (doh!) and the Louvre (10-min walk) and only 2 minutes from Richelieu Drouot metro station if you hate walking. Room was bigger than expected but with very limited storage space, which means most of my clothes had to stay in my luggage. My advice to them is to use the room space more efficiently. There was a mini-fridge in my room, which was unexpected. Wifi was very good with no downtime at all. Room was comfortable, and the amenities were great.I was going to give this hotel 4 stars but brought down to 3 for the following reasons:- Breakfast is absurdly expensive and never changes. You're better off eating at any of the multiple restaurants available everywhere along Boulevard des Italiens.- I came back to the hotel one day to find the hotel closed. The receptionist had left a note on the door to say that he was "at one of the floors", whatever this means. He was very flustered when he came back. I had to wait 5 minutes outside.- The cleaning ladies would literally prevent the lift from closing by gossiping with one lady in the lift and one outside.- My TV remote disappeared, and when I requested another one from the receptionist (guy with the glasses), he acted like it was a crazy event when in all likelihood one of their staff had taken the remote for whatever reason. When he saw me again after that, he had a grin on his face, which was very rude and unprofessional.
I've stayed at this hotel for a few nights almost every summer since my first visit in 2002, when my daughter and I stayed here for 10 days on package tour. I stayed for two nights this June. While it is still a basic tourist-class hotel-- quiet, comfortable, central location (just off the Grands Boulevards) on a calm side street, walking distance to Palais Royal/Louvre area and great public transport to anywhere a tourist wants to go-- I can no longer recommend it as a good value, even with the web rates months in advance. It is also a little down at the heels~ noticed for the first time peeling paint and worn features. I also confess that I'm a little disappointed that despite being a regular guest who has recommended the hotel to many others, I have never been recognized as a return customer, even though I recognize the staff. They obviously have thousands of visitors a year, so maybe my disappointment is unwarranted. The customer service is always professional and prompt. The quality of the internet has improved since my last review, though it wasn't working at all early one morning. With all the reasonably priced breakfast options on the Grands Boulevards, I don't recommend the breakfast as a valuable add-on. This hotel has become an average 2-star tourist class hotel that's a little pricey even for Paris.
Three years after I visited Paris, I was back again, this time with my husband and son. Messr. Bel was so gracious to have given us a beautiful loft type room. As always, breakfast was great in their beautiful dining area. We only needed to walk to the Louvre (everything was ready upon arrival from Louvre entrance tickets and the river cruise) and shopping areas. Access to the Metro was quick going to the Tower Eiffel. Everything was at point from arrival onto our next destination. Again, merci beaucoup!
