Our Opinion

Mercure Montmartre Sacre Coeur has works of art from famous Montmartre painters hanging on every floor. Twin rooms are a good size with large window and views of Paris. Also feature 2 connecting rooms per floor.

This modern and welcoming property is next to the lively Butte Montmartre area, and close to the Moulin Rouge and the Sacr-Coeur Basilica. Step out of the hotel and take advantage of the multitude of restaurants, movie theatres and caf terraces on Lepic Street and the Abesses quarter. With many buses and a subway only 100 metres away, all of the city's tourist attractions and major stores are within easy access.

Location: 18th District, Montmartre, Sacr-Coeur Basilica
Subway: Place de Clichy or Blanche

Nice Hotel, convenient location

The first impression given on arrival was not acceptable.Good location, Metro close. Many cafes close. Try nearby restaurants Leon de Bruxelles if Mussels are for you or Bistrot Melrose for great French cuisine.Overall I would say Hotel was good, staff very helpful & pleasant with one exception of the young lady on Reception when we 1st arrived. We had an early train from London arrived Gare Du Nord (which is quite close by) at 10am, so took a slow stroll to Hotel, arriving approx 11.30am. I approached receptionist & said that I understand we are early but when would be earliest we could check in? With a dismissive glare she said 2pm. Ok I replied would there be any chance of a room ready before that? No! 2pm is checkin time, came back at me abruptly, but she did offer to store our luggage, which I guess I should be grateful for. So my wife & I took a seat in reception area to rest. Over the next 30 minutes I sat & watched 2 more guests arrive with luggage & they were checked in immediately. I assumed that was because they were 'Privilege Club' customers & they get preferential service. If the rude lady had asked my name she would have seen that I also had booked a 'Privilege' room. Knowing that I was getting more & more annoyed with this, my wife suggested we go out for coffee somewhere. Arrived back at Hotel at 1pm, different receptionist & wow chalk & cheese! Can I check in please?..... Yes of course Sir. Very helpful, very smiley, very chatty. She was excellent. Breakfast was hectic & a little dis-organised. Location is convenient for access to other areas of the city. Overall the good points of Hotel far outweigh the bad points.

Poor service

Hotel location is ok - neighborhood is not great. Rooms are clean, good size and modern for Paris. My issue with this hotel is the customer service and management. I recently stayed for a few nights as part of a large group. I was staying an extra night and alerted the staff the day prior so I could set up the reservation and pay for my extra night. That seemed to go fine however the receptionist who helped me made the reservation for the incorrect day. This wasn't discovered until the next day. For some reason, the price for the correct day was 100euros more than I was quoted. Even though it was the receptionists fault, I still had to pay 100 more euros. To make matters worse, the manager came out and talked to the receptionist and knew it was her fault (not mine) and still forced me to pay the 100 euros more. It was terrible customer service especially since I was part of a group booking 13 rooms for several nights at a cost of thousands of euros. I will never book this hotel again for trips. I was very taken advantage of.

Great stay for the value

For less than $200 Euro/Night we had an excellent room that was comfortable, the staff was excellent and the breakfast was included and was a fabulous start to the day.Located in a great section of Montmartre within walking distance to Sacre Coeur, Moulin Rouge and bus or metro stations.

Fabulous hotel

I stayed here for 4 nights with my daughter and was very happy with it. The room was spacious with tea/coffee facilities. Plus a bottle of water which made a nice surprise as most places don't normally provide it. It would have been nice if they replaced it like they do the tea/coffee but still pleased to have one. We were on the 6th floor and had great views. The staff were all lovely and helpful. The buffet breakfast was plentiful & fresh. Not in central Paris so had to use the underground, but Montmartre is a wonderful area with lots of exploring to do. Would definitely stay again.

Great location but needs improvement on service!

We stayed in the hotel for 3 nights. The hotel is just a few minutes walking from the metro station. There are plenty of bus stops, restaurants, bars, and shops nearby. As soon as you enter the premises, you have a good impression of the hotel. It is modern, spacious, bright, and the staff is friendly. We had a street view from our room and it was not noisy at all. The room was clean and comfortable. The bar area is very nice with a terrace and a work-space. We did not have breakfast but I believe the price is 16 euros per person. Please note that the elevators do not go directly to the area where the rooms are actually located, and you may have to lift your luggage up several steps. The reason why I am not giving 5 stars is mainly because the staff is friendly but not helpful. Within a few hours of arriving to the hotel there was a black-out. We were not informed by staff the reason for the black-out nor when it would be resolved. We had also gone downstairs to request not to have room service. We did not have a door hanger in our room available (Do Not Disturb), we did not lock our luggage nor pick up our room. The front desk rep apparently took notes on the computer and indicated she will contact the housekeeping manager immediately. Upon returning, we found the room service was done. In addition, we had an early check-out around 7am, and at 2am we requested at the front desk to have a wake-up call at 6am. This did not happen either. We complained about it but the rep said he called several times and that perhaps the phone was not plugged (I know it was). We checked out over a week ago and still have $1.12 pending on my credit card (I did not purchase anything at the hotel). We would like to come back to this hotel but I will read the reviews and check if customer service improves.
