I would have scored this a 4 out of 5 (possibly higher) if they had given us a nicer room. We visited paris for my birthday and I wrote this in the comments section of the booking(that's asks if you have any specific requests) and asked for nice room and said we would really appreciate that but didn't get any response regarding this but maybe I'm asking too much here! Room was nice though and staff are friendly. The girl who checked us in didn't have much to say but the others were nice. Breakfast is lovely and they served our breakfast in our room one morning at no extra cost which i really liked. Overall, the hotel has the swish factor but is well priced.
This was my second trip to Paris and I was so disappointed that I couldn't get checked into my previous hotel (fully booked) So after a quick bit of research I opted for the Mecure @ Place d'Italie. I was a bit unsure as I wasn't familiar with this area of Paris but I have to say I was over the moon with this hotel. The welcome was superb from the evening receptionist as I arrived extremely late. I was given my key to my room and was overjoyed. It was spacious, very clean, well appointed and very modern. The hotel itself looked very well kept. The bed was sooooo comfy and got 5 night great sleep. I have to have the window open doesn't matter where I'm at, so therefore street noise for me can be a problem. Although a busy neighbourhood it wasn't city noise if that makes sense? As a solo traveller I felt very relaxed knowing that the main hotel doors where locked at night but always manned by reception so you could get in easily. All the staff very pleasant and although a couple didn't speak good English, my poor French made them laugh in a nice way but we got where we ended to be thanks to technology! (Google translate is very useful :))The Metro station was within a sixty second walk and the cafes by the station I couldn't fault. Tip: There's a great shopping centre next to the Metro which has 130 shops catering for every shopping fetish and is so worth a visit!! This is a great area of Paris to explore. I would so recommend this particular hotel. It wasn't the cheapest but exceeded all my expectations.
The Mercure Paris Place d' Italie Hotel was considerably better than I expected, especially after reading all the negative comments on Tripadvisor. The room is a decent size. The staff is very friendly and helpful. And the breakfast was much better than I would expect of a budget hotel. It was my kind of breakfast. It offered a very good selection of continental breakfast food items, in addition to eggs, bacons and sausages. As with most hotels somethings didn't work during my six day stay. The safe intermittently gave an error when attempting to lock or open. And several bulbs were not working in the ceiling light. But once these were reported, the problems were immediately fixed.
I have recently been in Paris for am holiday with may family and booked this hotel.Overall I can say I have been very, very satisfied with my choice, for quite a few reasons:1) The location is great! It's close to Place d'Italie which is crossed by line 5,6,7 of the metro. These lines take you to basically all the most important monuments and attractions, but if you want walk, you are close enough to the city center and for example in 30 minutes you can easily reach the Notre Dame cathedral.2) I chose a Privilege Room whose price is quite good in comparison to the hotels closer to the city center. The room size was more than adequate and very quite. Ok, we were at the 6th floor, but the road traffic of the boulevard in front of the hotel, is not that much even in the morning. And... the room assigned to us had also a beautiful view of the Eiffel Tower! Finally these rooms also include a Nespresso coffee machine, which I used a lot!3) The staff is very friendly and kind. Most of them speak the English language and some also the Italian language.4) Breakfast was ok as well, with a good variety of food.In summary I really recommend this hotel mostly because of the the good balance between price/service and the fantastic location.Luciano
i had a beautiful clean room, nice little view. its is clean, with very helpful staff. Buffet breakfast with much more than you can eat. Daily room cleaning service. Found it a bit sad that their parking driveway was sooo small, you have to drive carefully
