Hello, Fantastic hotel at a great location downtown next to the river. What impressed me most was the breakfast buffet. They had everything you could think of. Western style breakfast food as well as Asian inspired breakfast dishes. Staff was fantastic and sitting in the sun room was very relaxing. Enjoy,Paul
I had a great time staying at this Intercontinental. The hotel is only located 10min. walk from the city center and the staff is amazing. They upgraded us to an Superior river view room with breakfast and I must say - the breakfast was really good. A lot of options. I can definitely recommend it and if I'll come back to Frankfurt - I'll choose this hotel for sure!
Such a cosy hotel with an excellent service .Receptionist always smiley and willing to help with any kind of questionsWe had a room facing the Main view and it was absolutely lovely view in the evening and morning.Food is just amazing .We loved it and would definitely recommend it .
I have stayed at the Intercontinental hotel many times and it never changes only the prices! The cost pre exhibition times are dramatically lower but I guess this is the same for all hotels in Frankfurt!? Having said that the standard of service, food and rooms are all very high and the choices at the breakfast buffet are probably one of the best I have seen in Europe! There is nothing at all to really fault the only thing is it is probably getting ready for refurbishment.
Check in was painfully show as only one counter was open, but one of the staff finally interrupted their gossip to come and check me in - most welcome after a seven hour flight from the Gulf in Economy.I'm an IHG member and was paying for this night on points. A hold was put on my credit card for 80 Euros as I indicated I'd be having breakfast. The receptionist then produced a welcome letter as befitting my IHG Spire Elite Ambassador membership level ands she also explained the benefits which included breakfast in the 21st floor lounge with delightful views over the River Main.I attended a concert that friends were playing at in the city and had a lovely evening, but my problems started when I went for breakfast. As instructed, I went to the 21st floor lounge, said good morning to the smart, bald gentlemen at the reception area and gave him my name and room number.Hew looked at me blankly and said "no, this is not for your breakfast".I then explained that I was told to come here for breakfast due to my membership level and I had a letter to that effect too. His reply was icy cold "I do the letters and I did not do a letter for you"!! Well, I do not like being called a liar, so I told him to shove his breakfast. I got back to my room, grabbed the letter and came back to the Lounge. He wasn't at his desk (apparently fiddling with the curtains at the window is more important than dealing with guests or perhaps he was savouring another victory for bureaucracy as another impertinent guest, trying to blag a free breakfast was sent on his way).I left the letter on his desk, and left, having to wait for the elevator to come to the 21st floor. By this time he had time to read the letter and called out "Mr Mainka, come back", which of course I had absolutely no intention of doing. "Too late" I replied as the elevator doors closed behind me for my journey to the Ground Floor (E) for breakfast at the main restaurant. It gets worse...I wait at the reception area and finally someone comes to take my room number. "Ah, "Herr Mainka, your breakfast isn't pre-paid"! I said "can you check again please as a 80 Euro hold was put on my card when I checked in to cover breakfast". Blank look. Then an lady comes and starts a full description of the breakfast from the menu on a stand that I can plainly see and read. I stop her, "Please, I'm tired, I've just been insulted by the bald gentleman in the 21st floor lounge and I just want to eat, paid, free, I don't care"!! - I was by this time rather upset.Breakfast was lovely, apart from cold food on the hot plate and people now fussing over me unnecessarily, "here's another orange juice" - "no thank you"!!So, the mystery of how low the Hotel Intercontinental Frankfurt is on Tripadvisor's rankings revealed itself to me in all its inefficient glory, where internal communication is flawed, guests are treated like criminals who come to steal their precious breakfast and staff think they are better than guests because they wear a suit to work. There are newer better hotel options in Frankfurt and I for one will be choosing the new Sofitel on my next visit to this fine city on the banks of the River Main.I'm going to take one last look out of the window before I leave, and if I look carefully I can see my red IHG Spire Elite Ambassador card floating gently towards the end of 2017.Danke and auf wiedersehen.P.S I've attached the "welcome letter" to be used in evidence at the hotel Guest Relations Manager's post mortem. Where I hope the smart gentlemen "hosting" the lounge will be re-assigned to bellman duties where he'll be forced to greet guests with smile, open the door for them and carry their bags, hell, he might even get a tip!
