Le Meridien Parkhotel
- What's Included
First off, I would give it two stars if it not for the help of Manoj Katara at the concierge desk. He was extremely helpful and really went the extra mile to help me with a business matter. SPG Platinums: no recognition at all... I understand upgrades are subject to availability and I'll take their word on the hotel being at capacity, however, there was no discussion of welcome amenity, they don't have a club and the breakfast buffet was meh. The labyrinth of doors and hallways needed to reach certain parts of the hotel could rival MGM Grand in Vegas! The fact that they shut down the elevators and didnt give me a warning that I would have to carry my luggage down the stairs in order to check out was a huge frustration. I wouldn't stay there again.
The location is great. It's close to the train station , eateries and shopping. The room was on the small side but that's common in Europe. The renovations are great. The lobby looks amazing. The staff was quite helpful with information.
The place was good, the room I stayed is small. But the place is very near to restaurants and central station. Very accessible to anywhere. Very near to agency to travel to Heidelberg. Sleeping here is relaxing
The refurbishment to the hotel will make it a nice hotel (though the rooms are still small); the improvements to the ground floor are good. But the hotel was not ready to fully reopen. In the space of six days: 1. I had to wait for two hours to check-in due to the computers being down; 2. I was given a room where the windows were covered by scaffolding and 80% tarpaulins (I had to move); 3. A pipe burst which meant no hot water one morning; 4. Lifts occasionally not working; 5. Faulty equipment in gym (bike rebooting once a minute) not being fixed for five days; 6. No air conditioning some of the time; 7. fire alarm and evacuation at 6:45 one morning for no reason. Had the hotel reacted to this collection of problems better, I may be more understanding. However, the staff looked constantly like rabbits caught in the headlights, not sure how to deal with each new calamity. A free ice cream when the air conditioning fails and money off my bill (which my company is very grateful for but doesn't help me!) did very little to balance out the very poor experience.I was part of a week's conference of about 120 people and the reality is that the hotel was not ready to serve us. The hotel should have been honest about this, either forewarning people of likely problems and even better rebooked our meetings and accommodation elsewhere. I was left feeling that the hotel's greed had come at mine and others' actual expense.
The recent renovations were quite a shock. But, a beautiful new bath with walk-in shower, and the staff's kindness were welcoming. I have always eaten at the hotel, as they have the most fabulous chicken schnitzel of any restaurant in Frankfurt. Sadly, it is not on the menu in the newly remodeled restaurant. However, they informed us, it is on the room service menu and is also available in the restaurant. To be in Germany and have a fabulous German meal is what I look forward to. We dined in the restaurant and the chicken schnitzel was incredible. My only concern is, why don't they put it back on the menu? And, it used to be served with cranberry sauce and I hope that will come back. In the meantime, we were happy to know we could get the finest German Chicken Schnitzel along with the sparkling renovations and very comfortable rooms. Thank you.
