Sofitel Frankfurt Savigny
- What's Included
This hotel is centrally located. A 5 minute walk from the U-Bahn and Tram stop and a 10 minute walk from the main station in Frankfurt. It is on a quiet street so there is not traffic noise or disturbance. The room was clean and nicely furnished. The bathroom was good with both a shower and a bath. The WiFi wasn't the best but worked for basic needs such as scrolling through emails or checking social media. The concierge were good. Make sure to clarify which wing your room is in if you're staying here. Breakfast was good and we also dined at this hotel in the evening. The bar staff were very nice and the meal was good with good choices. Also it was 34 degrees celcius when we arrived in Frankfurt and the air-conditioning in this hotel worked wonderfully. Overall I was very satisfied with my stay here.I do not understand the view that this hotel is bad in any way as it is not.
I used to stay at this hotel a lot. It was part of the Sofitel group and very centrally located. Unfortunately the Sofitel is in another part of the city now and the hotel has really gone down hill. I stayed 2 nights and the one night I eat at the hotel was a little disappointing. Still a good location, but not what it used to be
If you want to be cheated than book this hotel. We booked a superior double room with garden view and got a standard single room (bed not big enough for two persons) located at the noisy street side but...they charged the higher price for a superior room with garden view. Complaining at the desk didn't help because of the computer system that cannot be changed. They simply misuse the short distance to the Messe for cheating clients. One time and surely not a second time with me.
This is a very basic, utilitarian hotel, and it is hard to believe that it has 4 stars. Mattresses are comfortable, but the duvets do not fit the bed. I had a full size bed with a twin duvet that covered around 2/3 of the bed. Even though the hotel website features a picture of my room with a full size duvet, the hotel conceded that they do not own them. Air conditioning did not work for the first three nights, and the hotel was unable to provide less warm linens, so I had a very hard time sleeping. Opening the window was not an option because of street noise. The A/C was finally fixed on the 4th night. Breakfast was fine, but insufficiently staffed. Rooms were clean, but dark as can be. Like a cave at night, even with a requested additional lamp. Reception desk was adequate in the day time, but gentleman who worked in the evenings was rude on all three occasions I interacted with him. Room was clean, but had a hard floor -- no carpeting or any decor at all. Like I said, very basic and utilitarian. BAD does not even describe the Wifi, which requires that you type in a lengthy and burdensome username and password to use it -- which username and password need to be re-entered sometimes every five minutes, i.e. every time your phone turns off. It was a nightmare to try to use the Wifi with my phone.
Good location for business men: close to the Messe, while still in a quiet street. No noice at night. The city centre is on walking distance too. The room was clean and had a nice balcony. some small mistakes though: bath plug was hard to remove and a bottle with sigaret butts was found on the balcony. Breakfast had a good variation and large choice. I would concider to go again.
