Bayerischer Hof Hotel
- What's Included
Great, luxurious hotel in the heart of Munich. Tradition is core to the DNA of the hotel - e.g., you still receive truly heavy keys to your room. This tradition is brought to you by experienced and genuinely friendly staff. The hotel is an event in itself - the sun terrace, the Atelier restaurant, the bar with life music ...Only caveat: quite a few rooms are "too traditional" - and would require an upgrade to a to-date standard (e.g., silent air conditioning)
Stayed here on business. Rooms are a bit old fashioned but the service and views from the hotel are amazing. Fabulous breakfast buffet and great bar. Very central to sightseeing and business destinations in Munich. Short walk to best shopping and restaurants. Loved it!
From the moment we were greeted at the curb, checked effortlessly, given and expert tour of my magnificent room, i felt as though I had been transported back in time to the great hotels of my childhood. Memories of the Lido in Venice, the Excelsior in Room to the Villa d'Este on Como.LOVED everything about the hotel - my new home away from home in Munich!
This is a top hotel with all the amenities one would expect of a 5 star international hotel. We stayed in December when the Christmas market is in full swing. This means that the hotel restaurants are fully booked unless you book a couple of weeks before you stay, the bars are rammed and the city is full, at least in the evenings. The concierge service was outstanding and the staff invariably professional and helpful. Our room was quiet but had no view - a fair compromise. The Christmas markets are tacky but very popular.
One of our business partner gave us a voucher for a business lunch at the Garden restaurant. The first impression while entering the restaurant was pleasant with a modern ambiance, however the first surprise came when the waiter told us we could leave our coats (we are talking about winter coats as it was December) at the table or give it to the wardrobe outside - however against a charge! which you would not expect in a restaurant and hotel of that category. The food was nice, however for a business lunch took ways too long for the different courses to arrive. Then the big surprise came at the end with the bill for the beverages - a bottle of water (which was not even a premium one) was charged with 11.80 EUR!! Even if the restaurant is a fine dining restaurant and the hotel is one of the best in Munich - that price is purely cheating the guests. We are always willing to pay a high price for quality food, but not for a bottle of water. Also with heavy prices like that it is another surprise that the WIFI is charged as well - whereas nowadays every simple coffee shop does give that for free.
