Very pleasant hotel

The entire hotel is run very professionally, and the blue spa is great in and of itself it is very centrally-located and I would highly recommend staying here while you are in Munich . The bars and restaurants are great as well

Gorgeous Hotel!

The Hotel was gorgeous. Made our time in Munich very comfortable. Rooms had air-conditioning which I always like. Our room had amazing views of a church tower and beautiful domes. The bathroom in the room was large and quite beautiful. Big tub which is nice to soak in after a long day of walking around town. The rain shower was nice as well. The hotel has wonderful restaurants on site. Palais Keller (in the basement) was great traditional German cuisine. Trader Vic's, Polynesian food and the inventors of the Mai Tai, was great as well.

Surprised

I first chose this hotel because we were only staying one night (on our way to Frankfurt to catch our flight), and I wanted to be near the center of town. Very close to Marienplatz and the majority of the old town sites. But I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. Wish we could've stayed longer. Had a great open room with a view over the Promenade and the trams and trees. Furniture is semi-period, but the room is equipped with any modern amenity that you need. My friend loved the spa, but I simply wan't in the mood. The reservation includes all amenities at the spa except private treatments. Received an upgrade at check-in without even asking. Nice large bathroom, very clean. Beautiful open air bar on the roof but I couldn't get a seat. Which is my only complaint about the hotel -- they cater as much to non-guests as to guests. Thus, my inability to get a seat on the roof. But the staff at reception and the concierge spoke fluent English and answered any questions we had. The location is quiet and calm and yet only blocks from where it's at. I would stay here again in a pinch.

Excelent 5 Star plus Hotel

The family-owned and managed hotel is a classic of excellence in Munich for decades and with the renovations of the last year a true gem. The service from the doorman to the staff in the numerous restaurants are all extremely friendly and professional. Due to the fact that the hotel has grown over the years including several buildings, rooms are different in layout and design, but all combine modern amenities with Bavarian style and charm. This time I had a charming room on the 7th floor with a pleasant view over the rooftops of Munich. The spa and open air pool (the roof is retracting) is beautiful and very large. The rooftop terrace is a happening place. Last time I went with my daughter to a movie in the luxurious in-house cinema and this time I had a very pleasant dinner at the longtime favourite Traders Vic restaurant, unfortunately the last one in Germany since Hamburg and Düsseldorf closed. Sunday morning I just wanted to have a quick croissant before I had to leave and the restaurant manager of the totally renovated restaurant on the 6th floor gave me a nice tour of the new place including a new lounge and invited me for the croissant, telling me "you don't want to pay 30 euros for one croissant with a smile. Had I had more time the breakfast selection certainly would have been worth it. The action of the restaurant manager is typical for the staff, confident, aware and always helpful. A great a hotel!

Classy hotel with friendly, traditional service

Good, clean room with a strong, hot shower. A well-located hotel, at the western end of the Aldstadt (Old Town). Fluent English spoken by all staff that I encountered. A special mention goes to perky receptionist Anneka, who gave me a very nice welcome in her traditional Bavarian outfit!
