Bayerischer Hof Hotel
- What's Included
Rooms are very nice with tasteful decor and modern furnishings with super comfortable bed. But a little confusing on how to find your room and where to find the lifts. Great restaurant at top of the hotel where breakfast is served and great breakfast. Also great for a dinner drink. I was a little underwhelmed with my stay here as my expectations were very high.
So I am struggling with this review. On the surface of it everything was great. The views, the location and other things I have experienced at hotels across the world of all kinds of star level. I believe this is a 4 Star. Pros included: an excellent room, good WiFi, air conditioning that works, and efficient room service that was tasty too. I wanted to elaborate on a couple of things that for me let it down (in the vein of comparing to other hotels). But, given the price that the room was (albeit booked on the day) I am just not convinced:1) the size of the hotel and the lack of signage. I got lost every time I came out of my room. It was impossible to locate the lifts and ended up walking down different stairwells of the 7 floors of stairs. The first set I found I came out in the business centre & back entrance. Very random. 2) I went to explore the amazing rooftop view restaurant (very pretty scenes). I sat down after asking the host if I could. But then left as after about 10 - 15 minutes no waiter seemed to be around nor did they think to give me a menu. Sacked it off and went for room service. So that’s why I have gone for a 3. I think it’s a great hotel but there were some small things for me that let it down.
I love nice things, and I love great service. This hotel was both of those, but the air of this place was very distasteful. The concierge service was marginal. They misguided us on which train ticket to purchase and we almost missed our train, and in asking for directions to a specific location in a nearby square, after getting the turns, he said in a not very nice way "just look around and you will find it." We had someone else's shined shoes dropped off at our door. When we noticed them we immediately brought them downstairs to the front desk. They said they had been searching all morning for them and didn't even say thank you to us! The other guests are clearly for the most part very well off, and go to this hotel to see and be seen. We were dressed for sight seeing and slightly younger than the average age there, and I felt looked down upon for it. My main complaint is just that the staff and guests alike were high-end-snobby not high-end-classy. Would have rather stayed at a smaller, lesser known hotel where they would appreciate my business more and have staff that is warmer, better at helping, and just more inviting overall.
I spent 3 days in Bayerischen Hof during October Fest, and it was a great experience. Nice gorgeous room, nice marble bathroom, excellent amenities despite advanced hotel age. Great restaurants (tried all of them), great breakfast, great location, great service. Pricey but it fits.
The room was old fashioned, authentic and there were chocolates and waters presented for us. Just gorgeous! We enjoyed our massages in the spa, but the layout was very confusing - just really spread out. The roof top restaurant was crowded and the service wasn't great, but we enjoyed the views and the drinks!
