Courtyard by Marriott Munich City Centre
- What's Included
We stayed at this hotel two nights ago with my son and his family. The hotel was clean and well fitted out, but there was one potential problem about cleanliness. My son had a room in which there was to be a child. On entering room he pulled the smaller bed over and exposed on the floor were a number of tablets . There were two different types involved, but the type of tablet was unknown. These could have been anything from tic tacs to dangerous drugs. Reception were called and they did react and removed the visible pills. They did offer compensation by providing free breakfast, which incidentally was a sumptuous spread. However when leaving the room in the morning, he found more tablets under the bed showing that the previous evenings cleaning was not very thorough. But when reporting it again before leaving, was met with a bit of indifference, with only a cursory apology.Pills could have had serious consequences to his child and it is a pity that the hotel do not ensure that rooms are properly cleaned after each occupancy.Other than that hiccup, the hotel was handily situated for the city centre. The only other issue was that the ceiling of the garage was too low for our minibus, meaning that it had to be parked in the street, which actually turned out to be cheaper, anyway!
My husband and I stayed here for three nights while we explored Munich. Location was perfect, connected to one end of an S-Bahn station so we easily got there from the airport and got to wherever we wanted to go. About a 10-15 minute walk into the historical city or to walk along the water front. Room was comfortable, pretty standard for a holiday inn. Restaurant/bar in the lobby was overpriced but convenient for when we arrived in around 11pm hungry. Breakfast buffet was worth the price. Would definitely stay here again!
The hotel was comfortable, the staff were very friendly and helpful, the concierge was very cooperative and extremley helpful plus the breakfast buffet (restaurant) was also great and satisfying. Yet, the rooms were a bit smaller than I expected, the bathrooms as well. The lobby is a bit smaller too. That's it, the rest is great and if anyone would like to stay in Munich for 3-5 days I recommend Holiday Inn Munich ! Many thanks to the staff and administration.
The hotel is above a shopping arcade with a couple of supermarkets and numerous other shops, easily reached from the S Bhan station, the metro is 100 meters from the hotel The location of this hotel is excellent. The main shopping tourist area such as Marienplatz area can be reached walking in 15 minutes, it’s a pleasant walk from the hotel, and we always felt safe. On the main street just out the hotel there are many small restaurants, bars and shops to stop at for refreshments or just to browse, the popularity of these establishments increases the closer to the centre you get.Our room was located on the 5th floor, no noisy neighbours, slept very well during our stay.Breakfast, as mentioned by pervious reviews, is very busy due to the number of guests in the hotel, that said, we never had difficulty finding a table, once sat down, manoeuvring around the breakfast room was easyThe only disappoint I had was English channels on the TV in our room, only 1, BBC world service, numerous English speaking programmes / films on the TV but all seemed to be dubbed in German. We would stay her again, should we decide to re visit Munich.
The Holiday Inn Munich City Centre is well-connected. It is has a side door to the S-Bahn area which is very convenient in winter as you would not need to get out of the building. You can also purchase grocery and shop a little. As this is a busy hotel, there were many officers at the check-in counters so check-in and out was generally quick and efficient. The only complaint I had was that my keycard was not really working. Somehow I had to change the cards a few times and this is something the management might want to look into (and no, I did not place them next to my mobile)The breakfast spread was sufficient, with a wide choice of cheese, cold cuts, bread and juice. There were sufficient newspapers to select from, including English ones (FT). If you forget your adapters, no worries. Just ask the friendly front desk and they will provide one for you. Ditto for toothpaste and toothbrushes. What I missed in the room were bottles of water. Going green perhaps? There is always the option of providing re-usable glass bottles. All in, it was a good first experience at this hotel and I wouldn't mind coming back again, even thought there is no extra incentive for IHG members, unlike the other HI hotels in Munich.
