Holiday Inn Munich City Centre
- What's Included
Stayed at the Holiday Inn whilst in Munich for 5 days and was really pleased with our decision. The hotel is in a nice location, good value for money and easily accessible by train from the airport (There is a shopping mall and underground station beneath it so you don't even have to go outside!) On arrival, we were greeted warmly by staff and even allowed to check-in to our room early, which was greatly appreciated having taken a very early flight from London. The room was spotlessly clean and comfortable, good free wi-fi and quiet. The breakfast buffet was amazing! So much variety and international choices, great start to each day.The only disappointment with our visit was that the hotel pool was closed for the total duration of our stay. We were really looking forward to a swim after each day exploring Munich and beyond, and this was one of the main reasons we chose this hotel...Would definitely stay here again the next time I'm in Munich.
Was at this hotel for 2 nights and my review as follows:1) Location:It is located on S-Bahn station: Rosenheimer Platz. Once depart the train, just follow the "Ausgang" direction and you will end up on escallator up and subway is on your left. Keep walking straight for 5 minutes/500 metres, you will pass 2 supermarkets, hotel lift to the lobby is after the 2 supermarkets. The location of the hotel is good for those coming from Airport - there is direct s-Bahn train from airport (the s8) or those coming from Central Station - all S-Bahn train will stop at Rosenheimer Platz. It is just 2 stations away from Marienplatz (the shopping hub of munich). Overall, the hotel location is outstanding.2) Lobby & Check In:Hotel is dated but massive. Hotel lobby is always crowded. Check in queue are always long during peak hours due to limited counters available. No welcome drink provided. Also, please double check your booking especially from Agoda. It is clearly stated in my agoda booking that the full room price has been fully paid but the lady supervisor of this hotel insist that I havent paid for the room and charged my credit card. Now, I am back in Malaysia and noticed, there is double charge to my room. Sorting out all these refund is troublesome. The Holiday Inn should have been more careful and more thorough in checking guest bookings. I am now waiting for my refund from Holiday Inn and still dont know if it is refunded yet or not.3) Standard Room:The room size is ok. Not too small and not too big. Bed and pillows are standard - not luxury but not shabby too. It is what you would expect from a chain hotel - everything is clean and functional but not luxury. Bathroom is dated with shower on bathtub with shower curtain. Overall, for the price i am paying, it is acceptable. I did have a good sleep at this hotel.4) Wifi:Inconsistent wifi speed. At times, speed is normal but there are times, it is just slow. I noticed that the hotel wifi restrict access to facebook. So, if you are somebody in need to browse facebook very often, please choose another hotel. I think the hotel has to improve on its wifi. At this modern age, and especially this is an international hotel chain, the wifi speed should be fast. 5) Buffet Breakfast:It starts from 630am. I thought the spread is good. But the spread is the same everyday. In particular, i like the fresh ginger drink option. Very refreshing. Because this is a busy hotel, the breakfast area is always crowded. Nevertheless, i quite enjoy the breakfast at this hotel.Overall, if you are not spending much time at hotel, this is a good hotel to choose. Highly recommended.
The Holiday Inn - City Centre met the needs of our small family very well. The hotel is easily accessible from Munich International Airport via train (S8 to Rosenheimer Platz). We stayed for two nights upon first arriving in Munich, selecting a family room with two double beds. The warm welcome from the concierge set the tone for our stay. We were quickly checked in, and soon in our room. The accomodation was clean and very comfortable, although the rooms are quite tight for even a small family they serve their purpose well. The hotel offers a fantastic breakfast which should be packaged when making a booking. There is also a restaurant, bar and great lounge area.I recommend this hotel, and would happily stay again.
We had a great experience, rooms comfortable and clean. Located in the center of Munich with a short walk to the subway station through underground, which made it very safe at night. Personnel really polite and welcoming. Shops in our way to the station that had great merchandise, even cheaper than the ones in the street boutiques and department stores while being from the same brand. Supermarkets and small family own quick food places were also very good, with affordable prices.Things to be aware of from our experience:1. Exchange of currency in the hotel was a high % of your money. We expected some, but not that high. My recommendation to the hotel manager is to let the clients know about this ahead of time.2. Another small detail that kind of got us for surprise was that we were going to be charged for chips from the minibar which we never touched. However, the manager was very polite and really took our word for it! We were so glad that our word counts with them. Hurrah for them and their trust in clients! Now, they need to talk to their personnel, so they don't write up things missing from what someone else took before we got there or misplaced.3. Our room look over the back part of the hotel where a Porsche dealer garage was doing some construction. They started to work early in the morning. Maybe talk to them to be able to start later?4. Also, the back of the hotel is the place where they displace garbage and at night the dealing with bottles thrown in containers made some noise early in the morning. Maybe, change the schedule to a little later in the morning so travelers won't be awaken by the noise, especially in early days of arrival when we were very jet-lagged.Overall, we will come back with no doubt.
Excellent location in a side street so very quiet and near to restaurants, sights and shops. Clean and ample sized room. Excellent and helpful staff who were able to make suggestions of where to eat, what to do. Big bowl of apples and another of sweets freely available on reception. Mini bar in room no charge. Air con works efficiently. Electric outside blinds which make the room pitch black at night. Nice bathroom products, safe, slippers and plenty of wardrobe space. Luggage room to leave cases before leaving or on early arrival. Finally the breakfast is very very good. Fresh orange juice, selection of breads, meats, cheese, smoked salmon, a whole honeycomb to take your honey from, cereals and hot food + more. Sunny breakfast room and good service.
