Holiday Inn Munich City Centre
- What's Included
On paper, this is by far one of the best Holiday Inn branded hotels you can get. Specially if you're used to the US standard of the chain. In fact, it could have been branded Even or Indigo. It's conveniently located near a metro stop and at a 10 minute walk to the city center. It also features a stunning lobby (big, modern and well decorated) and the breakfast is fantastic. Seriously, it's much better than most of Intercontinental Hotel breakfasts around Europe. Rooms are also nice and modern and they provide a nice shampoo and body lotion, while many Holiday Inn brands don't. And it's reasonably priced! It could have been a 5 star hotels, however it isn't for 2 main reasons:- The internet is horrible. Completely useless. Wifi didn't work properly and connection dropped almost every minute. If you're looking to do some work on your computer or even look at some information on your cellphone you simple can't. - You don't get recognized your IHG status. Compared to other IHG brand or properties, it was really really poor. As a Royal Ambassador Spire Elite member we didn't get an upgraded room, we didn't even get a room with city view (and the hotel seemed almost empty) even if the fare was supposed to be the same as non-city views. No late check out, only a "free drink or points voucher". Ironically we got a thank you letter for being a IHG member delivered to the room on the last day of a four night stay, which was algo quite weird. It really is a shame because overall it is a fantastic hotel which could be much much better with a few improvements...
Stayed in this hotel during a business trip. Its perfectly located with good connectivity with the underground train station. Breakfast is nice. Good option to stay in Munich both for solo and family travellers. They also have a nice small bar near the reception.
For the two-day conference this hotel was really to the point. Enough staff in reception to make the check-in and check-out reasonably quick. Friendly staff in every respect. The breakfast and lunch buffet was very good. The train connection to airport couldn´t be better, station below the hotel.
This time it was a better experience than before. Very busy and extremely well located hotel has I think taken note of lot's of negative reviews and trained their front office staff which are much better than earlier. Rooms are good as they were earlier. Overall a nice experience.
We stayed here for one night on the way to the Alps. The hotel is central, modern and very clean. I prefer the Holiday Inn in Alexander Platz in Berlin, but that's just a personal preference I think. The staff were very efficient. friendly and polite and the reception area was relaxing and bright. Our room was well appointed and lovely and clean, however it overlooked what seemed like a recycling station which backed onto the hotel, the lack of view did not bother us, but the noise coming from trucks arriving, unloading and departing from very early in the morning did, even with the windows closed. I would recommend this hotel, but recommend you just ask for a room at the front.
