Ibis Munich City
- What's Included
For a budget hotel, the Ibis exceeded all my prior expectations, hence I ended up staying here twice within a 2 week period. Checking-in was quick and efficient and the staff were very polite and kind. The rooms are okay size wise, but very clean and the hotel itself is very modern. Didn't have the breakfast there so can't comment on that. The location too is ideal as it is a short tram ride from the Hauptbahnhof or alternatively Donnersbergerbrücke S-Bahn station is a short walk away. Everything was perfect.
Having worked at and been a guest at properties for a five diamond brand, I recognize the importance of good service at all types of hotels, five diamond and select service alike. That said, here is my review. . .Housekeeping seemed a bit confused. They folded my nightshirt every day and made the bed every day. But sometimes there were no paper coasters put under the glass cups in the bathroom, to keep them from shattering. Sometimes the removable shower head was sometimes placed in a different direction, and the towels were never hung in the same place on the rack. Small things but for someone who has been trained in service, annoying. The changes with the shower head and the glasses happened on my last night, which makes me think a different housekeeper cleaned the room. Last but creepiest, the curtain in the room had small holes in it and there were fingerprints on it that looked like dried blood. Onward to the positive. . . The room was spacious and there was a good closet to hang my clothes. The bathroom had fantastic lighting (important for those of us who want our makeup to look natural and not like clown paint). Front Desk staff were amazing - shout out to Bettina for having such a good crew, it is a reflection on you! Also, kudos to Ricarda , who saw me coming on my crutches and each day grabbed a tray and helped me through the breakfast line - I hope you enjoy your vacation with your family! Revielita, thank you for helping me to breakfast on my last day when Ricarda was on vacation! Thank you Maike, for helping me to my room with the go-cup of coffee!! The gentleman at the bar who made me a coffee and gave me not one but a pile of cookies - thank you! Despite the challenges with the room, the personal service was five diamond and I look forward to returning to Ibis.
Rooms are spaceous enough but the bathrooms are very small. Staff is friendly and helpful. Light meals can be ordered from the kitchen. There is a communial space to sit and have meals. Hot water can be obtained ftom the kitchen for tea etc. Close to supermarkets and other food outlets. Internet was good.
We tend to book ibis hotels as we always know what to expect, but this one was far better than we expected. The staff were all friendly, spoke excellent English & helped us with transport tickets & suggestions for the city. The hotel is very bright & modern. The rooms were a good size, with plenty of power outlets; a very comfortable bed offering a great nights sleep; good sized bathroom. Everything within & around the hotel was spotless. The tram stops right out the front, making getting around very easy. Well worth staying here when visiting Munich
Location is great, rooms were spotless, and the breakfast was incredible! When the weather was nice we were able to sit outside in the courtyard for breakfast. All the staff (except one) were so nice and friendly. I will definitely choose this hotel for my next stay in Munich. Walking distance to the train station. Bring your own shampoo, conditioner, soap and washcloth. The beds are the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in.
