Just booked another stay at Platzl Hotel (our third!) and realized I left this review unfinished, so it's from last winter. We loved the hotel. Well situated and the staff is great. The rooms are clean and well maintained. If you want quiet, book a room with an inside courtyard view - it's worth it. Breakfast is delicious! If you book it with the room it's 20 euro. If you walk up it's 29 euro. Last two stays we booked breakfast as it is truly wonderful, but it is a lot of food and there are tons of tasty treats, cafes, and more in Munich so we did not book breakfast this time. I wish you could book breakfast with only some of your nights. I may call and ask about that. The location is perfect. Easy walk from the U-bahn station and you are right in downtown Munich. Service was great. We enjoyed the outdoor Platzl Karree bar even though it was winter. It was great to have a drink and watch people walk by. The lobby bar is also great with good service. The staff was very patient with me as I attempted to speak my very bad German. :-) They all however, speak very good English. We at at both the Ayinger Wirtshaus and the Pfistermuehle. I think overall I like the ambience of the Ayinger Wirtshaus. We enjoyed being there when the tapped the wooden keg and over the course of a week saw the same bartender several times and he recognized us. The Pfistermuehle did have wonderful food. At the time, the interior seemed a bit dated, but I read they have renovated and I look forward to returning. There was a big group at the Pfistermuhle the night we were there so it was not the quiet, romantic, upscale experience you might have wanted. They were Brits - enough said. :-) I will give great credit to the hotel manager as when we mentioned the next day that whomever setup the tables probably shouldn't have put a single 2-top in the room with the larger party, he apologized and later that evening the hotel sent up complimentary beer and small snacks. Nice touch. Overall I will keep returning. It's far cheaper than the Kempinski or Mandarin Oriental, yet the service is top notch!
We were looking for a hotel in the old town portion of Munich and with on-site parking… This provided both. Due to construction in front of the hotel, getting the car to the garage was tricky, but we figured it out. The room is very small, but clean, well appointed, and a good value for the location. Our rate did not include breakfast, so did not eat in the hotel at all. The price was 29 Euros Per person which seemed very high. However there is a small bakery right out the front door which offers a lovely assortment of pastries and coffee.
The hotel had a lot of charm with very modern luxuries. Bathrooms were updated. One of the nicest hotels I've stayed in in Europe. We didn't eat here but the outside bar is very cute. Hotel is close to Marienplatz train station, but it's a mile from the hbf. We walked from the main station which was a mile with luggage. Get off at Marienplatz or take a cab from the main station. Hotel location is very close to the churches and a block from Hofbrauhaus.
First class hotel, superb position, just off the Marienplatz Square.Hofbrau Beerkeller immediately behind hotel , Victorian Market 5 mins walk , shopping on your doorstep.Great bar , friendly staff , a firm recommend !
This hotel is in a perfect location close to marienplatz and 10 to 15 mins walk to the station. Very clean, modern and strong Wi-Fi signal!! Breakfast was great and the staff are so helpful. I'll definitely be back!!
