Westin Grand Munich Arabellapark
- What's Included
I admit that I am somewhat of an insider having spent many years comparing other hotels, globally, to this specific property. This hotel has always been my benchmark. As I've stated before, it's the little things that make a good hotel great and altho' the G.Westin excelled in many respects, there is still room for improvement. Some staff embrace Guest Satisfaction better than others. I found exceptional staff at the main Breakfast room, Westin Club room, thru' Housekeeping (the lads searching for decaf coffee capsules for my wife) and elsewhere but unfortunately consistency was lacking throughout. We stayed on the 22nd Floor and the room, good as it was, lacked a certain finesse. We will visit again as this hotel has many things going for it, including it's perfect location but I would hope next time that we see consistency throughout.
We are very familiar with Munich (we lived here 16 years ago) and we loved the location of this hotel. Very easy to get to from Hwy 9 from the airport and within walking distance to the U-Bahn. We were on the Club Level and enjoyed a very nice American breakfast each morning and snacks, beer & wine in the evenings. The front desk staff are extremely friendly and very helpful!
The hotel is nice and it has Very large room, the neighborhood is good and calm location close to the nice english garden and incredible breakfast! I will choose again this again this hotel for my next stay in munich.
I soon as we entered the lobby, the receptionist her name was Leyli Shivazi gave us a fabulous and a sincere welcome. She was very helpful, cooperative, and competent. The hotel lobby was spacious and excellent. The room and the bathroom were clean and very nice. The room service was great. I highly recommend this hotel to those visiting Munich, Germany.
I think its important to consider the style of a hotel when picking a hotel or doing a review. The Westin is a large, high volume, hotel. So, there will be times when the lobby and restaurant will be swamped with customers, and you may be able to find fault with this or that. BUT - a large hotel can also provide advantages that others can't, and it can provide ways to avoid the hustle and bustle. The Westin does both, and for that reason I've rated it a 5. We stayed for 3 nights on vacation, and chose a club room on the 22nd floor. The club lounge on the 23rd floor seldom had much traffic and provided a wonderful place to get away from the crowd to relax, have breakfast, or get a snack. The breakfast was relaxed and complete, so we found no need to go to the restaurant for breakfast. The club room was a plus, a great experience for both vacationers and business people. Our room had a nice view of the Mae West art, and met our requirements for a great room: plenty of storage space, great heating/cooling, fast elevators, good sound insulation, good lighting, good bed, clean - everything was good! The Bavarian restaurant was good. It wasn't gourmet, but reasonably priced, comfortable, and as good as we needed it to be. The staff was very helpful and efficient. The pool and sauna were a pleasant surprise, and a reason by themselves to stay here for us. The pool was the perfect temperature to compliment the sauna, had built in whirlpool and other features which added to its interest. The sauna facility was very complete with multiple saunas, an outside cooling area as well as inside, and good attendants which ensured that unruly guests did not ruin the experience. I've been to Munich a number of times. I found the Westin's location to be good, as it was away from the chaos but public transportation was very close. The S-Bahn is immediately on one side of the hotel, and the U-Bahn is very close once you find the shortest path. You can get anywhere pretty quickly. Should we return to Munich, I would choose the Westin over other hotels we've stayed in previously, as it has the best combination of features.
