I don't really know how the hotel got a 5 star rating... it's not a bad hotel but just a bit run down. The staff were nice and friendly and the location is awesome - so closeTo everything. However, there's no face towels or lotions which I expect from a "5star" hotel... just little tiny things...
My self and my husband have been travelled around the world both for private and business. We had spent 5 days in Santorini which was wonderful. In this trip, we decided to visit Athens and stay at Divani Palace Acropolis. The disappointment started from airport pick up, we had got an air con. broken taxi to pick us up from airport to hotel. When we arrived, nothing make us feel this hotel worth 190 Euro per night. Staffs services was very minimal. In the room, size around 27 sqm., there is no water, tea, and coffee as complimentary which i think such things should be available and i dont think this is too much to ask. I'm a business traveller my self and i have never stay in any hotel provide such minimal as this hotel.. this remind me of my time as a student back pack traveller where i usually stayed in hostels or something similar. In addition, this 190 Euro per night is exclude breakfast.
I stayed 3 nights while at a board meeting being held in the hotel. The sleeping rooms and meeting rooms were nice, but nothing spectacular. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The location is semi-residential, no so much in the thick of the tourist district, but within easy walking distance of the principal attractions. I thought the breakfast was above average.
I stayed here for a few days. There was nothing especially wrong with my hotel, but it was slightly disappointing for a hotel which holds itself out as being 5*. It felt more like a decent 3* or 4* hotel. The rooms are clean but small, and the decor is tired. The breakfast buffet was passable but very limited. The restaurant and room service menu was basic and missed out key touches (such as no ketchup provided for french fries). There is a pool but it is very small. Decent wifi. The location is good, 10-15 minutes walk to the Acropolis. As there are lots of other hotels in the same area. I don't think I'd stay here again.
we were there during the Easter weekend this year. the slightly dated hotel had not turned on the air conditioning units yet but still had the heating on. this turned the rooms into a furnace all the time. we had to keep the balcony door open (thank god we booked a room with a balcony) while sleeping. on the resurrection night, this proved to be slightly problematic as there were masses and church loud bells for around 2-3 hours and we had no other option that to keep the balcony door open. when outside was 15 degrees at night, inside was easily 26 degrees. the balcony had a view of the acropolis. it is pretty lit up at night.other than that, the hotel itself was nice. staff was polite and helpful and quite fond of children. in fact, we found that Greek people do love children. the rooms were cleaned everyday. no problem there. breakfast was good. room service closes at 10-11 pm.the location of the hotel is perfect. it is walking distance to the acropolis, to the museum, to plaka, to the syntagma. in fact, we walked everywhere.
