We had a room with a soaking tub in the lovers lagoon area and found it a great location.Service was second to none and what pleasantly surprised us was there was no 'hard sell', for anything (other than being asked to pose for the photographers, who were out in force!).The 2 main pools and beach had more than enough to keep us there for the whole week, but we also used the water sports facilities a great deal - the guys running the boards and boats were probably the most accommodating of all the staff. The snorkelling trips are fab but just around the breakwaters you'll find some nice sea life as well.Plenty of choice for food and drink and although it was apparently at capacity we had to wait very few times.Minor negatives: mozzies (not a shock really) and limited music range around the pool bar (I asked for some 'cheesy disco stuff' and mid-late 80s music was the best they could do; might be a generation thing!).Way more positives and we'd go again for sure.
We booked at Sandals LaSource for our honeymoon and got the Jr. Suite with the lagoon pool walkout. It was wonderful! The room was situated in a quiet corner, making it easy to take advantage of the privacy of our soaking tub and the lagoon pool (which we shared with 3 other rooms).Very good nightly entertainment and area for watersports. The cove beach was beautiful, but on the smaller side, but was never crowded. The pools were beautiful and very active with music, but it was difficult to get poolside chairs if you don't have a butler, as many of the butler suites sent their butlers to "reserve" all the chairs - that was pretty frustrating. The dining was wonderful! Cucina Romana and Butch's were the best! Kimono's was also a great experience. Bar staff were always friendly, but also always busy, so usualy had to wait for drinks.
Review for 6/13/17 to 6/20/17 stay. I booked the South Sea Junior suite without butler service. Being that it was my first sandals vacation I really didn't understand what the butler service was and didn't think it was necessary, boy was I wrong. This resort gives priority to the butlers. Without butler service you should not set high expectations for service around the resort. The Room: clean , spacious bathroom and shower, Samsung tv and USB outlets available. We had one situation that involved ants crawling all over the ceiling which wasn't pleasant. When I say ants I'm not complaining over 2-3, this was a colony of ants closer to 50-60. We reported it to maintenance and they sent someone over to resolve the situation. Comfortably sleeping took me a night or two. This was enough time for me to acclimate to the noise coming from the crickets and frogs at night, it sounds like a dying fire alarm reminding you to change the batteries, but nonstop from sundown to sun up. Eventually you tune them out and don't even hear them anymore .The Grounds: beautiful, colorful and very well maintained. Always someone sweeping or cleaning. (Minus the current construction at the main desk.)The Pool: if you don't have a butler don't expect to get a chair at the south sea pool. The butlers go out very very early and reserve lounge chairs for their guests. By 7am most if not all are taken. The Music and entertainment by this pool are great and a lot of fun. Also having a brick oven pizza station within throwing distance is a plus for this pool experience. The Beach: not exactly what I expected based on pictures of the resort online but it was nice. Turquoise blue water and very clean. The beach however can be better maintained. I am not an expert but have traveled and the beach here may need to be combed each morning to clean and turn over the sand. The beach chairs are not very sturdy and anything water front is on a slant which makes it hard to get comfortable. The resort offers free snorkeling everyday at 10am and 1pm (included with your stay at sandals) and a free sightseeing boat trip (also included) that goes around the island everyday at 3pm, which was nice. Use these trips to see the island rather than "tipping" a cab driver who decided to play tour guide. The Food: many people on tripadvisor RAVE about the food, my opinion, it was OKAY. Not amazing by any means as many other people describe it. I am a New Yorker and may just have higher standards. During my stay *The French restaurant was the BEST for breakfast and dinner. (Recommend the banana French toast for breakfast and anything for dinner was good). * Spices was my least favorite restaurant. Ate there two separate occasions and found everything to be dry (I had a fish entree and my husband had the steak). *DO NOT eat at the pub. The food was GROSS. Cold wings and the nachos felt microwaved but taken out 10min to soon. Recommend the pub for their drink selection though. We did *Neptune's for lunch mainly because it is so close to the beach. Food was good. Mainly stuck to the chicken quesadilla and French fries. The service however was terrible, could've been just me but they forgot to take our order multiple times then once placed didn't receive food for almost 35min.(which is why we stuck to quesadilla and fries). *The breakfast at cucina romano is a buffet style and nothing to rave about but dinner is better than expected. The pasta carbonara is my recommendation here. *The French pastry shop was my go to for ice lattes and Nutella/banana crepes. Having an endless supply of deserts made my husband very happy. The Service: for our stay wasn't anything special. Drinks take forever to make and being we didn't have butler service no one really paid attention to us. (The Italian, kimonos (Japanese) and French restaurant had better service than Spices and Neptune's.)The Spa: had 2 massages during my stay one on the pier which was great. Perfect setting listening to the water crash against the rocks and the breeze come through. The staff at the spa was great! Excursions: We did the dune buggy excursion to the waterfall with sun hunters. This worked out perfectly for us as it was pouring rain that day and made the excursion more fun. (Do not give the "Diver" at the waterfall 20$, I did and regretted it immediately as he really didn't do anything. Just told everyone they had to pay him and follows you till you do)Notes: highly recommend using "the loop" app. I made a complaint on the loop regarding service and someone from the management team contacted me within a few hours and sat with me to discuss the compliant. This helped as they tried to accommodate us a little better for the remaining 2 days of our stay. Overall I would give this resort a 7/10. Come here if you're looking for an easy vacation that requires little to no planning. Sandals has everything pretty much laid out for you. Really no reason to leave the resort. - [ ]
Our room was spacious and comfortable with an outstanding maid service that magically appeared only when we were absent and kept us in fresh linens all week! The air conditioner was top notch which we really appreciated at night! Every restaurant was delicious with a wide variety of cuisines! The opening times changed every day which allowed us to experience all of them without getting into a rut of eating the same one over and over. The resort was much less crowded than we expected it to be which meant that there was always room for swim and play without feeling over packed. Every night there was new entertainment which ranged from wildly silly to romantic. The aquatic team for diving and snorkel trips were fantastic. Boota (President), James, Ann Marie, Charlson, Adrian (Turbo), Gary (Capt Grenada), Kimshon, Curtis, Travis (Capt. Jack), and Lester were all outstanding and provided a dive and snorkel experience that was quite amazing. The trips were well organized and the dive and snorkeling locations were very interesting, the aquatic life was abundant and included puffer fish, nurse and reef sharks, green turtles, sea horses, large sting rays, and moray eels just to name a small few. The sculpture park and various ship wreck allows for a continued variety of dive locations for each trip out. It was the people of Grenada which made our vacation memorable. They were all welcoming, polite and truly happy to have us there. This was not only relegated to the employees of Sandals but those in the towns as well. From the bartenders at the pool to the tour guides and the children running down the road of St. George's! Everyone smiles and waves and their happiness is contagious! We will certainly be returning and will always look back on our trip as special and worth every penny!
We just got back last Tuesday from our honeymoon at LaSource Grenada and we have nothing but great things to say about this resort and country. First of all, Grenada is a beautiful country and the people are absolutely wonderful. Sandals LaSource is a perfect honeymoon destination. It is the perfect mix of romance and fun. From morning to night, it is complete paradise. Our favorite part of this resort was the entertainment staff and other staff members. They made our stay everything wonderful that it was. If you ever get the chance to meet Shamak, Steven, Shayna and Kareem from the entertainment staff, you will be very lucky. These people are the most dedicated workers I have ever seen. They are friendly, fun and genuine. When I left Grenada, I felt as if I was leaving friends I had known forever. One of our favorite places to be at LaSource was the swim up bar and we spent our days there with the entertainment staff and with the wonderful bartenders Kareem & Hezron, who are the best bartenders I have ever seen at any resort I've been to. (Kareem is always my #1 bartender, even though Hezron won the mixology contest). Another person who helped make our stay as enjoyable as it was was Ricardo who we mostly saw at the Tipsy Turtle bartending. Ricardo is a fantastic magician and blows people away with his card tricks! I can't even put into words how great our trip was because it wasn't just another vacation to relax and get some sun, we made great friends and had memorable moments that we will remember forever. You know you had a great time when you get back and can't stop telling people about your honeymoon and all the good times you had. Not to mention that everything was luxurious to say the least and there was never anything missing, from perfect room hospitality to amazing food everywhere we ate! Thank you LaSource and all of the staff members who made our honeymoon everything I could've dreamed of and more!! For those deciding where to go for your honeymoon, wedding anniversary, special trip etc.. this resort is a guaranteed great choice!
