Where do I even start when your vacation is perfect from the first to the very last minute. Thanks Sandals Grenada. We had a room with direct access to the beach and it just could not be better. The entertainment team deserves a special mention as well as Michel at the italian restaurant. Can't wait to be back!
It was our first time going on vacation at a sandals resort, and the commercials didn't do it justice. The island, the staff, the experience was beautiful. We booked our next vacation with sandals before we left.
We first visited LaSource shortly after the resort opened in 2014, we stayed in the most expensive suites the skypool suites, we were so disappointed with our stay at that time.We decided to give it another try and are so glad we did as we had a lovely week in our large comfortable suite on the hillside. There was a reasonably good view and privacy to enjoy our evenings in our whirlpool hot tub on our large patio with a glass of prosecco, we also enjoyed time spent in our infinity edge pool. The hotel manager Mr. S.G. is so friendly, welcoming and interested in his guests. All the staff are very friendly and helpful throughout the resort. Our butlers Neron and Shirley Ann also the butler manager Peter are lovely people, Shirley Ann plays a mean game of pool, our relief butler Ifori has excellent potential. That party pool at the back of the resort still had chairs available when we walked by at 9am, but is so not our scene, we prefer a little more sophistication on our vacation! The quiet pool at the front of the resort also had plenty of chairs available at this time but not many parsols. This pool is not very large and on several mornings space is even more limited as scuba training takes place here also, not a welcome intrusion for other guests. The beach here is our biggest disappointment so this is why it will never be our favourite resort. We stay at Sandals for a week four or five times a year so we have visited all the resorts on several occasions our favourite vacation is a villa on the beach at Sandals Emerald Bay Exuma where the view of the soft white sands and an ocean so blue it looks like it's been photo shopped! Our next favourite is a large penthouse suite at Sandals Grande St Lucia overlooking the Caribbean ocean, pigeon island and Rodney Bay. This resort can be very busy once the inter resort shuttle buses start arriving. Sadly for us LaSource cannot compete with the above beach locations although the food here is the best in the Sandals chain, not gourmet or fine dining but certainly the best on offer.Le Jardinier (French) food, service & ambience not as good as our last visit.Cucina Romana food was better this time and the Italian manager very attentive.Neptunes dinner, the fish was quite good here, it can be overcooked at times.Butch's service not very good, quite rushed and server not returning to check if all is good.Jean still doing a wonderful job at the egg station (Spices) Restaurant Closures for dinner as follows:Spices: ThursdayCucina Romana: SaturdayLe Jardinier: TuesdayNeptunes: Sunday & WednesdayKimonos: FridaySoy: MondayButch's: Open every evening.Returning guest's dinner is Tuesday, Chocolate buffet/white night is Thursday and Beach party is on FridayWe don't visit the pubs or the evening entertainment at the Sandals Resorts, not our scene. We had a very poor and expensive vacation here in 2014 but we came back with an open mind, we had a lovely stay and we will return again in the future. To all the lovely people who made our stay enjoyable, thank you.
we just returned from Sandals La Source Greneda and it was certainly the best decision we ever made.we had the most fantastic vacation and there was absolutely no way it could have been better.in a caveat we dont let much get us riled up...we go with the flow and try to enjoy the experience and thats the perfect attitude for this resort. this resort looks huge on maps. its so not! everything is in reasonable 5 minute walk to any room category yet big enough you dont feel squished.we stayed in the south seas one bedroom butler suite with private pool sanctuary. there are only 4 rooms of this type 7101 7102 7103 7104. its awesome!!! huge deck private pool and hot tub. two sun chairs table and chairs with umbrella and a sunbed. inside is a huge room with livingroom massive bathroom with the best rain shower ever and awesome soaking tub with seperate vanities massive closet dresser and a second patio door in the bedroom which allows for you to literally jump in the pool from your bedroom...so cool7101 is right near pizza shop and Italian place so you would think it would be loud and its just not canr even hear the pool music if we are inside the room.also the room is situated up on a hill and unless someone walked to our gate to look in we had 100% complete privacy as the vegetation around the rooms is very mature.7101 is what is attatchedwe are medical workers and used to serving others so the butler thing took an adjustment. but we had Glendon Leanna and Alex and they were unobtrusive but always had our needs met. dinners reserved with tables decorated. they quickly learned our pattern (i took a nap in the afternoon) and our likes of different drinks and would deliver them without being asked. we had yummy snacks nightly with many different towel animal surprises with fun decorations and yummy snacks or a nice bath. anytime we had a problem wanted to change a reservation or wanted a certain spot by the pool pt beach they had it done immediately. we werent sure about having a butler but it came with the room we wanted....but id recommend it to anyone it was so awesome to have a phone and say hey can you set us up for dinner at 7? something about letting go of control made our vacation extra relaxing and special I cant say enough about the staff. Always friendly and wanting to help in anyway they can and there's no tipping they just are so incredibly pleasant to be around that you just are relaxed.we know nowhere is perfect and there are issues no matter you go so little things we used their loop app and someone took care of it immediately.you have to remember you are in paradise. relax!!! dos:bring your own float...even just a dollar store one you can inflate when you get there . the floats are in high demand for sunning and reading in the pool2. bring a underwater camera. tons of fish at the beach that are entirely unimpressed by you being there. they follow you. people said they got bit. i was in the water everyday for 10 days and never was bit. there are fish that burrow in the sand at the bottom...wear water shoes if you are worried i never even had a fish touch me just be near by but i got fantastic pictures of sea life just by walking in. i think people stepped on burrowed fish and they wiggled out under peoples feet and they thought that was a fish biting.3. if you love seashells bring something to transport them home. They are everywhere. i poked around at the rock walls and was rewarded finding a fully intact conch shell bleached white by being out of the water so long. 4. spf 30 is a bare minimum. if you have fair skin bring 50. bring a lot you need to reapply every few hours. I have olive skin that tans easily and even with spf 50 burned the first day. 2 bottles of lotion and 2 cans of spray we used in 10 days. The spa has fantastic after sun spray....they arent just trying to sell you stuff it works!!5. go to the entertainment. we dont like to make spectacles of ourselves and didn't want to join in but we found seats in the living room and the entertainment staff kept us laughing for a few hours every night.6. you don't need bugspray. (I say this as someone who is mid ivf treatment and had harvesting before I went due tp zika concerns). I was never bit by anything. they fog 6am and 5pm daily. we were in our pool as late as 1230 am. never a mosquito.7. ask for the drink of the day when you have meals. you get to try different combos of things and I found a few favorites (Strawberry mohito (thanks to the butler for that suggestion!) Dragon punch at soy (my husband loved this) but watch out....they are not shy about loading the drinks up with alcohol!! loldont:dont be concerned if you have medical issues. they accommodated me beautifully and I fly with refrigerated iv fluids and Iv nutrition and they had an extra fridge, made sure i had small snacks available and kept cold water in our cooler. even with my rather cranky system I felt great due to their attention to detail.don't worry about customs. Even with iv fluids a host of iv supplies including infusaport access needles I was through customs in under 5 minutesdont worry about being close to the airport...first of all its awesome...not like jamaica where you are car sick on a hour bus ride...and Greneda has maybe 8 flights a day on a busy day. we hardly noticed.dont worry about the weather. The forcast is useless. (unless of course you enjoy watching a dude and a fake parrot give you the forcast 😂)it rains sometimes but generally was over in 5 min and didn't deter our pool volleyball or swim up bar antics! we even had a "tropical storm" . it rains hard 4 different times that day for 30 min. then it was gorgeous.
The place was great. The food, and the service were first rate. The grounds were very well kept. I sat on my balcony every morning to watch the sunrise over the mountains and St. Georges drinking a cup of Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee, which was provided to make in the room, while they raked smooth the beach and prepared it for the day. The activities at night were lots of fun. Sandals LaSource Grenafa was a truly a great experience.
