Second Sandals holiday and this did not disappoint! Grounds were so beautiful, gorgeous flowers, humming birds, Iguana's and much more kept so tidy by the hard working staff. Food was great service at Butch's not so good, but over all restaurants were fab special mention to Timothy lovely waiter at Neptune's who was so friendly and good at his job.Pools both lovely we preferred the quieter one by the beach and always found loads of shade. But what really made our holiday was the diving and the lovely dive team led by the superb Boota. Each dive was led in a really professional manner that made us feel safe and ensured that we had a really great time. The fish were amazing and you always saw something new. We were only scuba diver level but were supported so well that we managed lots of dives and got gently nagged to upgrade as we were doing so well!! We promised Boota we would be back next year and become advanced divers. Special mention to dive master Kimshon who looked after us so well, skipper Shawn so kind and helpful and the lovely boys on the boat.I have never wanted to go back to a resort as I normally want to try something new but this lovely place will pull me back.
We vacationed at La Source from 7/27/17 to 8/3/17 and loved it!We have been Sandals devotees since 1989. We have been to Negril,Jamaica many times(honeymoon to start), Montego Bay (our first), St. Lucia 2x, Antigua 2x, over the years. We renewed our vows for our 25th 2years ago in Antigua and it was fabulous. That said, each resort is gorgeous and different. We chose Grenada because we hadn't been there before, the airport is extremely close, and it offered room categories we liked. For our 25th we booked the private pool sanctuary suite with hot tub, it was gorgeous, like our own house! Had the butler service for the first time and got hooked. Know that you don't need butler service, you get the same good and amenities as everyone else, but certain room categories are in that category. We happen to like our own pool or access. The butler service is very nice, but if it's your first Sandals, not necessary.Check in was easy and smooth. Our butler Kervin got us settled in the room and he was great the whole week. You will have two butlers who split shifts, and one for filling in. One is usually the "main" butler. That was Kervin. We stayed in the Italian village lagoon swim up room 3202. Fantastic. There are two levels, we were hoping to get the upper level because the view is better and you can see a bit of the ocean. Newer building. Shampoos and lotions replenished daily. Highly recommend this level. All restaurants were great. The best was Butch's, but the others were very good as well. Kimonos is always fun. We had a great group of people at our table. Food flying and slot of laughs. It's slot too eat so pace yourselfSushi was fabulously well. All staff was smiling and always helpful. One evening we were going to dinner at butch's and I had high heels on which I was going to carry and put on before entering due to the long walk from our room. (Tough in heels) our butler Kervin would have none of it, made me wear my flip flops and returned them to our room after I switched to heels. That's butler service for ya!Note: during summer, apparently the flies come to visit from the rain forest. Alot of flies when you are eating. Very annoying. They don't bite but they are a pain.we tended to eat inside where possible to avoid. Usually we like to eat poolside and the butler would bring us whatever we wanted but it just was uncomfortable. They don't swarm when you are in the pool so that was a break. Had a couples massage at the spa, almost fell asleep, it was so relaxing. A must do!Went on the sunset catamaran cruise, it was beautiful. Very relaxing. About a 25 minute drive from resort to marina. Then about 1 1/2 hrs on the water. They serve champagne, soda, run etc and some snacks. Must do it .The sun is probably the strongest we have experienced in the Caribbean, and we live in palm beach county Florida , so we're used to the sun and are worshippers. (Use sunscreen) you'll still tan. The first day over did it and had to wear t-shirts in the pool. The swim up pool is great.good vibe. DJ plays music all day. The other pool is nice and quiet. Beach is good. Not as pristine as other Sandals resorts, but we are more into the pool so it was fine for us.The GM was on vacation during our stay, however we got to know the assistant GM Supratik Guha. Great guy. We sat with him at our returning guests dinner and he is extremely engaging. My husband was curious about the engineering issues a resort deals with on an island and was interested in speaking to the chief engineer The next day the chief engineer found us poolside to have a chat with my husband. That shows the attention to detail and how management caters to guests. We didn't ask to meet the chief engineer, just mentioned we thought he might have been at the returning guests dinner and that's all he needed to know. Impressive.Synopsis: La Source is a must. We will return. The grounds are gorgeous, the people are warm and gracious. Accommodations A plus. We would like to try Barbados next, but we will return to Grenada for sure. It is very relaxing. Great for vacation, honeymoon, anything. Some of the other Sandals may offer more of a party scene, like Jamaica. You make if it what you want. You can't go wrong at any one of them. We've been faithful to Sandals for years, diamond members , and have earned a free trip. Not withstanding, we are always sad to leave. It really does feel like home whenever we return. I even filled up with tears saying goodbye to Kervin our Butler. Sweetest guy with a smile that lights up. A perfect example of what makes Sandals the place to be. If you are booked already, good choice. If you aren't, what are you waiting for?
We had a honeymoon penthouse oceanfront room in the Pink Gin building. While the room isn't nearly the best on the property, we felt the location was. We could see the waves hitting the beach from our bed and we could hear the waves rolling in all night even with the windows closed. It was so nice. The rooms in the Pink Gin building are a little dark, but not a big deal. There's a shower large enough for 2 and a window between the shower and the bed. The room we had was concierge level, so we had it stocked with our preferred liquors and other beverages although we hardly drank anything in the room. The resort is spectacular. I've been to La Toc in St. Lucia (20 years ago) and it was amazing. Grenada's Sandals is smaller and quieter. The beach is relatively small, but there aren't very many people there. The sand is brown and the water is green, but very clear for snorkeling. The party pool has a swim up bar and volleyball. There's another large, quieter pool that overlooks the beach and a smaller, hidden pool (Lover's Lagoon) in the back of the resort. The restaurants were all very good. Butch's was our favorite for steaks and ambiance. The Italian restaurant was just average. The French restaurant was also very nice. The bars were always easy to get to and the bartenders made some top notch drinks. The only bar service lacking was that sometimes there weren't any servers going around the pools or the beach. Other days, they were well covered. The concierge service wasn't anything spectacular. They stocked the mini-bar and made dinner reservations, but there wasn't much more to it. Those with butler service had personalized everything. The evening parties were fun and the two excursions we took were very nice especially the sunset catamaran cruise (about 20 guests on board a 60 foot catamaran). They served appetizers, wine, champagne, beer and rum drinks. It's about a 2.5 hour cruise. We also took a half day tour of the island and learned quite a bit. Our drivers were always courteous and knowledgeable. I think the only frustration that comes to mind is that it was difficult to find fresh towels near the pool sometimes, but that's a minor gripe. All in all, it was an excellent honeymoon location and I'm looking forward to going back to Sandals again, although a different one to experience a different culture.
We just returned from Sandals LaSource last night. We stayed Aug 5-Aug 12. First let me say that this was our first Sandals but we've stayed at many All-inclusive resorts. Overall, the resort is absolutely beautiful and the pics on the website didn't do it justice. They spend so much time keeping the grounds cleaned and maintained, and it makes a difference! The layout of the resort was very comfortable and easy to maneuver. We had an Italian Bi-level suite with butler. The room was beautiful and spacious. We thought the Butler was worth the extra money. We didn't need our clothes unpacked or to be walked to dinner, but we enjoyed the pool reservations and all the little extras. One of our butlers, Willem, was the best! He made us feel at home right away and took care of anything we needed. In general, service at the resort was good. Most employees wanted to help you and had a good attitude, but we did run into a few issues in the French restaurant, Le Jardinier, when we went for breakfast. It wasn't enough to keep us away as we went there twice for breakfast, but there was a general feeling of not wanting to provide service. For the most part, they seemed unhappy and annoyed when we asked for anything...and not just us...as we observed it happening to others around us. We certainly understand 'island time', but there is a difference between being laid back and not caring. Everyone has an off day, so we didn't worry about it or let it ruin our time. We took the Sunset Cruise trip through the resort and highly recommend it. We were a little worried that the time was too early in the day (3:30) because we like to relax at the pool till early evening but so glad we went. It was several hours long and we got some great pics! We also booked the Champagne and lobster snorkel trip through the resort. While the trip was great, we almost didn't go. I had pre-booked the excursion before we left for our trip to Grenada for Wednesday. On Tuesday, we were informed the trip was cancelled and they were trying to get us rescheduled for Friday. They weren't overly concerned with contacting us to tell us what was going on, so we had to frequently check back in and ask status. Finally, on Thursday evening after we checked with the tour desk, we were informed that the tour was on for Friday and to be ready to leave at 9:50am the next day. The time seemed later than originally stated but we went with it. Since we had time to get breakfast before leaving, we left the room about 8:50 - in passing by the tour desk on our way to eat, we noticed folks waiting and a van ready for pick-up. My husband sensed something odd and decided to stop and confirm the tour time. Thank goodness he did because that was our trip getting ready to leave!! The tour staff acted as if we messed up until we provided the paperwork where they had written 9:50. We then got the 'oh sorry' response. Again, it turned out ok and we made the trip so we didn't make a big deal about it. All in all, we had a wonderful week and the small issues didn't make a negative impact. Shout outs to Steven with the entertainment staff-he was so friendly and fun, and Candice who served at the pool/beach-she was so genuine and attentive! These people really made our day everyday!!
My husband and I celebrated our honeymoon at the Sandals in Grenada. We were blown away by the staff's genuine kindness and happy spirits. We ventured off into town one day and we noticed the kindness of the locals, too. The Sandals property was in great condition and SO clean, the food was out of this world, and the beach and water activities were perfect. It was such a special time for us and the atmosphere of the resort made it feel intimate and romantic. I was so sad to leave, but I know we will definitely be back.
