Mayan Princess Beach & Dive Resort
- What's Included

We just returned from a long stay at Mayan Princess. The place was well kept, landscaping beautiful with good beach employees. One complaint, the music around the pool at Las Sirenas needs turned way, way down. And why does it stay on some nights when nobody is around the pool? All the guests felt the same about the blaring music. And do we have to hear Kenny Rodgers 3 times a day?You should be aware that because of hurricanes damaging on other islands many cruise lines are now stopping at Roatan. Almost every day a ship send hundreds (if not thousands) of passengers to this clean, safe beach between 12pm and 4-5pm. Some days there are actually two ships docked at Roatan. One person there really went above and beyond to make people comfortable…Mario Melendez.(Sorry if the name is misspelled.)Other employees did their job and were pleasant enough but Mario really took the time to address questions and provide real answers. I noticed on our first day that guests walk passed other employees to get Mario. He is worth the effort to find if you stay there.
Overall a really good experience. They got us all at the airport and returned us - it was a little chaotic due to our group size I think, but it got done. The food was plentiful and adequate; some really great, some not so much. They did accommodate several group meals for us during the week (we had 37 people). Also with food, if you have any allergies, be prepared that most of the staff had a hard time determining exactly what was in something - if you are celiac, there will be cross-contamination, no way around it, so bring things to survive on. Staff was overall friendly and helpful. The beach is public access so be prepared to deal with lots of random roving vendors of t-shirts, bracelets, etc. Lots of little lizards and hummingbirds to be seen around the resort. Rooms were mostly comfortable- they have a mechanism by the front door to put you keycard in that activates the electricity to conserve power while not in your room. However, this was a challenge for us as we needed to keep medication refrigerated and ended up leaving one of our cards in the control box the whole time and sharing the other card. I do wish there were more hooks/drying racks in the rooms; we had things draped across every chair in the place to dry. It is possible other rooms did - we learned that each villa room is actually owned by someone and the hotel service rents them out in between owner stays - so each room we learned is very different in what furniture and things are in it. For example, we had a nice 4 person dining table, while our upstairs friends did not have one. Each villa unit had 2 upstairs suites and 2 downstairs suites.
It was our second time to Roatan. Loved Mayan Princess resort! Everyone was helpful and made sure we all had a great time! The food was amazing! Our villa was always clean. We could see the ocean from our balcony and enjoyed just sitting and watching all the people. The beach was cleaned when needed. We had transportation when we wanted to see the sites. If you want a great personal tour ask Tyler at the desk for Juan's # and he will give you the best day's tour ever! Juan took us places we never would of thought of seeing and also took us where we wanted to go. The whole Resort was beautiful and would go back again... and again...
Amazing week at a great hotel - all inclusive.Had booked directly with the hotel and it turned out to be the best -- DO NOT BOOK VIA SUNWING as you will be limited to the selection of restaurant.I had booked with them directly and got to try 'a la carte' restaurants every evening with AMAZING food. Shrimps and lobster EVERY night! woohoo.. And the service was great. The locals are realllllllyyy nice and go above and beyond to make you feel happy.Evening entertainments ... so so...but DIVING ---------- AMAZING! Special thank you to Mark and Kevin. They made our time really special. Marc took us to Mary's place (really nice dive site) and he was really attentive to us and made me feel really safe.Big thank you. Adore you all and looking forward to my next visit.
Mayan Princess Hotel is a very well organized Resort of 90 rooms. From the front desk and everyone else who works there, the people do their jobs attentively and promptly with a smile on their faces. The property itself is very nice and well maintained, swimming pools were always clean, grounds spotless and restaurants have good food. Room was always clean and a special mention to Oneyda for taking care of our room she did a marvelous job in decorating it for our anniversary. Entertainment provided in evenings Thursdays to Sundays, more of a relaxed environment, not a party place. We don't have any complaints about our staying there for a week and would not hesitate to go back there, with it being steps to one of the best beaches anywhere in the world and within close proximity to other places to visit, its a good choice. We previously stayed at Paradise Oceanic and we like this resort much better.
