Mayan Princess Beach Resort

I just returned from an amazing trip to the Mayan Princess and can't say enough wonderful things about this oasis. Our second floor condo was large with a living room, master suite, a small kitchen area and a beautiful balcony patio overlooking the lazy river pool. The morning breakfast was always delicious and the adult drinks were plentiful. The beach area is large enough to enjoy the sun, the dive boats and the locals as they offer handcrafts, t-shirts, and silver jewelry. The resort staff were all very friendly and went out of their way to help guests. I would certainly recommend this resort and have already booked my return trip next year. By the way, it was the best diving I gave ever done. Amazing reefs with 100' visability!
Just got back from our second adventure to Roatan, this time staying at the Mayan Princess resort in West Bay. Very enjoyable to say the least. The property was very well maintained and very comfortable. The best part of the resort were the employees who went out of their way to make the stay very enjoyable. We first encountered Jean (spelled Yean), the front desk manager who went out of her way to set up a late lunch for us and another couple because of our flight delays. Then we met the very outgoing and personable bellboy, Frederick who made us feel at home the moment he delivered our luggage and continually went out of his way to make sure we were enjoying our trip. Next up was our waitress / manager for the late lunch and another Dinner, Vanessa. Very upbeat and extremely happy in her service....a breath of fresh air the entire trip. Next was Pamela, the bartender at the Las Serenas portion of the resort who was also very friendly and outgoing with all. We also had great times and service from Belkis, Darwin, Luis, Ismael and David. Regarding the food, we really enjoyed the food as we ate the buffet service for breakfast and lunch and had dinner each night at the restaurants - my wife ate lobster every night all part of the all-inclusive benefit. We found the breakfast with the buffet and egg / omelette station to be quite satisfying. The lunch was also satisfying with adequate selection. We never ate the buffet for Dinner, but talked to many who enjoyed the service. The property although a bit older, was very well maintained with beautifully maintained grounds and pools and probably the best location in all of West Bay, located right in the middle of one of the most highly rated beaches in all of the world. The property was very enjoyable but I believe the staff is the reason that we had such a great time. I would definitely recommend this resort for al stay in West Bay.
Spent the day here on our cruise stop. We were a group of 6 and we paid $35 each for a lounger (if available-no guarantee) we were there early so was not a problem, the fee also covered our taxi there and back. Got our pick of loungers and then spent the day on the beach. If you went down to the far end of the beach going to your left there was really good snorkeling. You could stand in the water up to your knees and see fish. Saw lots of really cool coral and all kinds of fish, some people say they don't see anything but we saw lots of different kinds and colors. Of course didn't have camera! The sellers on the beach were quite annoying after awhile, they were supposed to stay behind the line on the public beach but would come closer if no one was watching. It would be nice if there weren't so many but everyone is trying to make a living so you just keep saying no if not interested. One of the guys with the beach club (can't remember his name) kept an eye on our belongings so we never worried about anything, he also made sure we had drinks or anything else we wanted. Was very much appreciated, left him a nice tip. It is a beautiful beach with lots of activities going on and a person could rent paddle boards, kayaks, pretty much anything. Go parasailing, snorkeling, boating etc. It does get a little busy but we had our spot so no problem. Great stop, beautiful beach. Checked out the resort area with the pool and it is beautiful, would be a nice place to stay for a week!
My wife and I had a wonderful experience at this resort during our cruise. Beautiful beach front and facilities at this resort. Only thing was the over crowding of locals trying to sell something while you are trying to enjoy the beach and get some sun.
Nice, smaller resort on a nice stretch of beach. The hotel grounds and pool are very nice, well manicured and clean. We found our room to just be average, nothing special but bed was comfortable and room was clean. Food and beverage selection was decent, however service seemed to be a bit slow. Bar staff hang out next to the bar and socialize instead of checking in on guests to see who might need another drink. The biggest negative to this trip was that I, like many others at the resort, had significant gastrointestinal issues. Not sure what might've been contaminated. If you want to be on the cautious side, avoid anything not cooked, avoid raw vegetables and salad that would have been washed with tapwater and drinks that would have tap water (sofa fountain, concentrated mixers) or ice. Stick with bottled water, bottled beer and cooked food. TIP: Central America seems so prone to G.I. problems/travelers diarrhea for many. Have your physician write you a prescription for Cipro 500 mg and bring it with you along with Pepto-Bismol. These two medicines saved my trip. If you are prone to G.I. problems when traveling Pepto-Bismol and probiotics can we started prior prophylactically.
