I stayed at the Mayan Princess to scuba dive for a week in October 2016. This is a very nice place. The two-bedroom room on the third floor was huge. The staff took very good care of the place: clean, stock full of good food, and the all-inclusive is the way to enjoy the bar. It's especially exceptional because of the Mayan Divers location on the property, which operates the daily dives. A fantastic combination that I will again enjoy in the near future!
As part of Carnival Cruise excursion we found ourselves at this beautiful location. Splendid landscaping with gorgeous beaches, however very limited space in the private beach area provided to Carnival Cruisers..We found the bar/restaurant wait staff to be adequate at best. Our order consisted only of one sandwich and one order of nachos but the me from placing the order to its delivery was an hour.. The quality was good but not worth an hour wait time.
We went on a Carnival Cruise in August and instead of booking the excursions offered on the ship we booked a day at the Mayan Princess thru Shore Excursioner. The price included transportation, 1 meal and unlimited drinks. There are 2 hotel together and we were able to use the pool at the Mayan. The pool was really nice, clean and relaxing. The grounds at the hotel were also very pretty - loads of tropical flowers. When driving thru Honduras you see a lot of poverty and run down areas but once you get to the Mayan it really is pretty! We enjoyed our day here. Also, the driver who picked us up and drop us off at the cruise port (I'm sorry I forgot your name) was very knowledgeable and pleasant (don't forget to take care of him!!). I highly recommend a stop here for the day.
Spent a week. Best diving in a long time with excellent dive staff. Knowledgeable dive team, anticipating every need. Mark and Kenny, dive master and captain, were great. I would highly recommend using this dive shop. The resort is quite nice too, although we were there during the quiet season so not all the restaurants were open every day.
We did an all inclusive day pass excursion from our cruise ship and had a wonderful time. This was our first time to the west end and we were taken by the beautiful beaches and magnificently clear water. The tour company was alright and got us back and forth acceptably. If you have troubles with windy and bumpy roads make sure that you get a seat at the front of the bus. We had five bus loads on our excursion.Upon arrival we were taken through the resort directly to the beach and the to a cabana where a buffet lunch would be served and the bar was located. We are not much for drinking but the bar service appeared to be prompt and I heard no complaints about quality. We went directly to the beach and took some lounge chairs in the shade. If you asked, they would plant an umbrella at your chairs for some extra shade. There was plenty of space for all. The beach was clean and well maintained and we were only a few steps from the ocean. Softer sand you will not find anywhere. The beach peddlers are non stop and tremendously annoying. You are warned several times to validate activities with the staff before you run off to do something (parasailing, kayaking, etc.). It seems that some just take you down the beach and rob you. The hotel staff was very active in pointing you to credible vendors. At lunch we packed up and went to the cabana. The buffet had a good variety and was pretty good. The bar service was prompt. After lunch we migrated to the resort's pool to get away from the beach peddlers. The pool was great and the lounge chairs were comfortable. Bar staff was about frequently if you wanted a drink. Frequently when you are at an all inclusive on a day pass the bar service is bad but not here.We did not see the rooms so no comment on the accommodations. The facilities in general are in good condition with a slight wanting for additional upkeep.
