The only good thing about this hotel is the staff. I went with family last Sunday to swim and eat in the Hotel. They charge 55$/adult and 30$/kid. Paying this you have the right to swim and for a buffet launch. Honestly the pool was not clean and the food was terrible. We left the hotel and went to eat somewhere else. I do not recommend this hotel.
The hotel is good but, there are many things to be improved; others are ok1) Entertainment at night is very good2) Food at snack area is not good3) Same dessert at restaurant during my whole stay but you can enjoy the food4) Internet speed is good but wifi no. Iteration between devices in same room is not possible. 5) Quality of vodka (drinks) is very bad6) Drinks are not prepared with quality7) One (only ONE) TV at the whole entertainment area. If you are alone at the bar, you will be bored very soon... the type of music is the same... always! In summary, is not probable to return if they not change.
For the adventurous and non delicate traveler, Tela is a pleasant destination. This hotel is a bit dated but the rooms are very clean, beds very comfortable, AC first rate, and staff very courteous. During the week, you may end up having the place to yourself. On weekends, the locals come in large numbers but its all good. The food is very good, including breakfast. I used to come to this beach in my Peace Corps days in the 80's, and not much has really changed in Tela. The beach is really big and excellent for a relaxing swim and sun bathing. Not much sea life left nearby, you have to travel out to Bay islands to see that, but Tela beach is still pleasant. Pool is large and great for kids. A good place for 2-3 days.
My family rented a villa there. EVERYTHING in the villa was outdated and unclean. But the worse was the pigeon poop dropping down between the ceiling tiles. You hear the birds all night long. The food was the equivalent of a Golden Corral in the US. What a major rip off. All the manager wanted to do was apologize. Ungracious
Last May I stayed at Telamar for a workshop, the rooms are nice, large and clean and the food and drinks are fine. You can get drinks everywhere but it's not possible to get bottles of water for in your room, you'll have to buy them. The comference room is nice and loaded with food and drinks, a bit too much I think. The atmosphere in the resort is a bit dull, but at least there was live music during one evening. Staff is friendly and most speak some English, some must have very boring jobs, like waiting the whole day in the tourist shop for the two tourists who could buy something.
