Went in with whole family including siblings for a 3 day 2 night stay. Turns out a nephew goes out to swim in the main pool and was injured with a deep cut requiring 4 stitches. The cause of the injury are the many loose 1 inch tiles throughout the floor of the pool, the edges can cut skin like glass.Management is aware of the problem, several people have had these cuts, but seem to be unwilling to solve the issue (you can ask for the complaint book to verify the issues at the hotel). With the child injury our vacation went down the drain, the hotel does not provide partial refund if you decide to leave. The hotel amenities are old, dated and can pose health risks due to poor maintenance. There are other hotels in the area that are far much better, will not name as this is just a review of our stay.Room service provided drinks in a re-used 2 liter Diet Pepsi container instead of a plastic/aluminum or glass carafe.Management and owners fall in deaf ears, hopefully one day they will have the customers safety in mind.
Had a great time at Telamar. The beds were very comfortable, the resort very clean. The food for the most part was tasty but there weren't a lot of choices in the buffet. Only 5 hot choices of which 3 were always refried beans, rice and a vegetable. There was a soup, a few fruit choices, cheese platter and a couple of salads. You won't go hungry but you won't gain any weight either. One thing that would have made the breakfast better would have been hard boiled eggs - everyone can eat those. There were snacks in the snack bar in case you are hungry after breakfast. You can only get a glass of wine in the restaurants - would have been nice to get one at the bar. If the buffet is open you can get one in a plastic glass to go. The town of Tela was a short walk away and was a refreshing change from most towns. You can walk into the stores and no one bothers you - so browse all you want. Beers in town were around $1 each. You can get a bottle of wine from Chile at the grocery store for around $5. There was a fried chicken place in the town square - the chicken was really tasty. That was our go to place when we were hungry. We also ate at the Mayavista - this was a little more pricey but the view was amazing. The sunwing reps were really great also they went above and beyond. But I think if I went again I would buy my day trips from Garfina Tours in town. They have many more to choose from and were half the price. We paid for oceanview but you couldn't see the ocean because of the palm trees but you could hear it. I would definately go back.
Read a lot of bad and good reviews and I dont agree too much with all inclusive hotels because ive had bad experiences with the food. But we decided to try it....Pleasant suprise!!!The frontdesk and staff were very good, the room was exactly as the pictures, didnt get any mold, just 2 lamps didnt have a bulb, everything with the room was ok.The beach and pools are great, we had a lot of fun there and the hotel gives you chairs and a tent for the beach, only had one complaint with the tour boats, they park infront of you and they really insist on giving you a trip. With the food we had pleasant suprises, we stayed 4 days and didnt repeat a buffet or type of food. They had all kind of meats, varieties of salads, a soup, and 2 days they put seafood (fish and shrimps) and they we delicious. We had good experience with the food. The snacks by the pool are the only ones that were lame, really need to improve them. I have to say, its not a 5 star hotel but they do a good job and its very child friendly.Overall good vacations and will come again.
I been there a couple of times for day trips to hang out at the pool. This was my first overnight. I thought my room was really clean & nice. The outside of the buildings could use some paint but overall it the place is well maintained. I thought the staff was nice and accommadating. My friends had small children and they loved the big pool. They also had a children's game section with plenty to do. At night they had a show at the outside stage. The buffet style meals were very good with lots of choices. The unlimited drinks were fine. The beer is out of a bottle and poured into paper cups to keep from glass breaking. I'm planning on taking my family there next year.
The service was very good, three pools are cleaned every early morning. The all inclusive works perfect, the buffet-style food was very good. The snack was not much, it did not last, by the time you look there was nothing else to eat until mealtime. The staff at the restaurant was excellent. I was served by two excellent women (Nolvia and Vilma). The front desk was very friendly and welcoming. I will stay there again whenever I travel to Tela again. My ONLY problem was those ugly huge butterflies everywhere in the halls, they are scary looking.
