Well done TBR!

My wife and I returned to Turquoise Bay Dive and Beach Resort for the second time. Our trip was off to less than a smooth start as just over an hour into our flight our aircraft had to to return to the departure airport due to an on board computer issue. Not ideal, however, Sunwing exercised caution and once we landed we were advised that we would be travelling on a different aircraft and would have a lay over to allow for our luggage to be transported over and for a new flight crew to arrive. During the layover Sunwing provided each passenger with a $15 food coupon which could be spent at any of the airport terminal food stations. After about 90 minutes we were back on the newly assigned aircraft and en route to Roatan once again. Upon our arrival we were processed by immigration and off to retrieve our luggage. Once outside of the terminal we were greeted by the Sunwing representative who directed us to our van with driver to take us to TBR. My wife and I were the only ones in the van and the ride (through the rush hour traffic!) lasted about 40 minutes. Upon our arrival we were greeted by the TBR staff and a welcome drink was presented. We were directed to room 1 which is closest to the main building. We decided that as we normally go to bed early as we are divers, we would request a different room away from the potential noise from the evenings entertainment. The front desk staff was very accommodating and offered us room 10 instead. This was a great location for us and were very pleased with the room change. Once in the room we discovered that a lamp wasn't working so we dropped into the front desk en route to the dive shop and by the time we returned to the room the lamp issue was resolved. I cannot express enough the high customer service that is displayed by ALL of the staff at this resort. This was put to the test later in the week as a group missionary students and staff arrived at the resort (approximately 40 teenagers with 10 adult staff). Up to that point the resort was very tranquil and quite...that silence was broken upon the arrival of this group later in the afternoon. That evening for dinner, the staff advised us that they had set up special seating for us in the bar area, which as great as we didn't have to worry about seating. However, the menu for the evening was made to order pasta dishes. The TBR staff worked as diligently as possible, however, given the volume of people it was a 45 minute wait in line to get our meal. The General Manager was on site to witness this and the bar staff were quick to apologize for this situation and assured us that a resolution would be forth coming. Prior to our departure from the restaurant that evening the bar staff advised us that once again the seating in the bar area would be exclusively for us and they would also set up an additional food serving area in both the bar area and in the main restaurant with the premise being that the missionary group would attain and eat in the main restaurant area. Sounded like a good plan...however, in the morning there was a communication breakdown as the missionary group were lined up both at the main restaurant food station area and in the bar food station area. As the majority of the patrons in the bar area were divers there is no time to waste as we had to eat and then get ourselves down to the dive boats.Upon our return from diving, prior to lunch we were approached by members of staff who presented us with a letter of apology from senior management explaining that they regretted the inconvenience and were working towards a solution to ensure that we would be satisfied with our stay. They also presented us with a small gift (fresh fruit plate, coffee mug and embroidered hand towel).Once again, TBR came through and there were no more issues in the restaurant area. The students and their chaperones were served and ate in the main restaurant and the other guests were served and ate in the bar area.I have to acknowledge TBR for recognizing that there was an issue, provided an apology, advised us as the the plan and then followed through on it.The staff at this resort are all excellent; the food is excellent (don't skip the soup that they serve for lunch and dinner daily!), the rooms are dated but no issues with air conditioning, water pressure, bed and everything worked as it should. If you have mobility issues then let the resort know ahead of time; as rooms 1 to 4 would be best suited for you.My wife and I look forward to returning to TBR once again to enjoy everything that this resort has to offer.

Great dive resort

Traveled with a group of 18 on a 6 day stay in September. Weather and location were great! The setup of the dive operation is fantastic, the dive masters put your gear that's left at the dive center on the boat for you each morning. We were scheduled to have 18 dives(6 per day), 2 in the morning and 1 in the afternoon, although we only did the first morning dive on the last day, due to our early flight the next morning. We saw a lot of varied marine life and the reefs are in very good condition, current was very mild. Most of the dives are in the 60-70 foot range, with the wreck dive at 110 feet max. Pedro was the boat captain and Enoc and Mayor were the dive masters, all 3 spoke very good English which made our instructions a lot easier to understand. The resort itself is fairly small, but well laid out. If you have the hillside oceanview rooms, be prepared a hike to get to your rooms. The garden view rooms are very close to the dive center and the restaurant. My wife and I stayed in a garden view room, which was nothing fancy, but it was comfortable, had a good air conditioner and was roomy. Sorry to say I forgot the staff names, but all were very friendly and helpful. Several divers in our group have been on many dive trips and they all agreed that this was one of the best trips they have been on and our whole group is planning on going back next fall. All in all, a very enjoyed trip!

Great Resort for a dive vacation

The Turquoise Bay Beach and Dive resort is a terrific place for a dive vacation. The resort is clean, rooms are well maintained and ALL staff go out of their way to help you. For example: on my way to checking out at the end of our stay I was lugging a heavy suitcase to the front desk office. A gardener nearby was busy watering the plants. He promptly dropped what he was doing and lifted my bag to the reception area! Food was outstanding. Every meal was delicious. Kudos to Pablo and Betty the omelette lady. Bar waiters Kirby and Roque were also very outgoing. You barely have time to sit down for dinner and your favorite drink is waiting for you at your table.Any issues we had were promptly resolved. Mgmt seem to invest in their property and they were doing a lot of work around the pool area. Painting and new lounge chairs and patio umbrellas. The rooms are a bit dated but clean and comfortable. Plenty of hot water anytime of the day! They do have a few activities if you are not a diver. Kayaks and horseback riding. I would have liked to see a few more activities by the beach such as Hobie Cats and windsurf boards. This would require an investment in material and personnel but might pay off by opening the resort to non-divers... Would I return to TBR? Yes, if I were looking for a great spot for a dive vacation!

Roatan Underwater Photo Festival

Great food, good room, fantastic diving. I'll be back in 2017. Priced right for all that one gets from the resort. The Photo Festival was the icing on the cake with great lectures and hands on lessons applied during each dive.
