The stay was pleasant and the staff is very friendly and helpful. also it is clean and the wifi works properly. the site in general is nice and they have free shuttle to the airport. tipp: choose beach view room nr 4. it has the nicest balcony. minor issues: - there are sandflies so bring repellent (very important)- there was an earthquake nearby and therefore a tsunami alert (nothing happened in the end) but we only got hold of it by chance. No one from the management came to wake up the guest or gave any information... this is very poor and imagine something really would have happened ?!?
What can I say about Jesus and his staff? Amazing comes to mind. Not only do they go to lengths to make sure everyone has an enjoyable stay, but they also take care of their guest. I have stayed at Turquoise Bay 4 times so far and have not been disappointed yet. If you are looking for tons of things to do besides scuba diving then you may want to stay elsewhere or you will have to get a cab and go to West End. If your just wanting to get your dive on and relax then Turquoise is a great choice. They have been updating the rooms over the past couple years and I will admit, it needed renovations but they have and are still working to improve their facility. I would recommend this place to folks who want to dive and relax.I am headed back there soon.
We were very disappointed in our stay at TBR. The small bay where TBR is located has so much potential, but it is in desperate need of updating, maintenance, and good management. The pictures were better than the reality. We had booked seven days, but we left after two nights. For an all-inclusive experience and price, we were expecting a much better and quality experience. Here are some specifics:1. Our room's sliding glass doors' screen was off and laying outside against the porch railing. Bad first impression; weird that management and staff wouldn't see that and fix it immediately.2. Our room had no pictures on the walls, and the walls were dingy--gloomy! The furnishings were sparse, outdated, and uncomfortable. That may seem petty, but the room felt like an old Motel 6.3. One of the windows in the bathroom wouldn't open, and the other one had been siliconed shut. 4. The shower and sinks drained poorly, so while in the shower you stood in standing water.5. The windows were dingy.6. We aren't expecting luxury, but when you are picked up by the hotel staff at the airport, you don't expect a broken raw egg smeared on the van floor. Yes, this really happened. The staff all saw it and ignored it. When we arrived at the resort, one of the staff said "is the egg still there?" Yes, it was. Yes, this really happened.7. Trash on the grounds, particularly by the beach. The area near the dive shop, as you come around the corner from the resort beach, was very trashy. Boards strewn about, a coca cola bottle floating in one of the canoes, and area generally not cared for. 8. The restaurant was adequate, although it was disappointing the only option was a buffet at every meal. It was sparse. Upside: 1. Food servers were pleasant and helpful.2. The veranda outside the restaurant has a nice ocean view, and we found it to be the most pleasant space in the entire resort (comfortable chairs, couches, and a few low-lying tables would do wonders...)3. The Subway Dive Shop was well run. The staff there was professional.4. We appreciated that when we said we were cutting our stay short the TBR did not give us any hassle.
My wife and I recently visited Roatan, Honduras and stayed at the small but wonderful Turquoise Bay Dive and Beach Resort for an all-inclusive week. We very much enjoyed the experience, the staff was super friendly and very helpful, the food and bar services were excellent and the general ambience of the resort was great. The rooms were spacious, well maintained and kept very clean. The week we were there was near the end of the rainy season and had been preceded by some major storms and rain so the roads were pretty muddy and the beach had a lot of seaweed washed up. However the staff were hard at work clearing everything away and a few days into our vacation the beach was very much improved. My wife spent her time scuba diving while I enjoyed the very fine golf course, the Black Pearl at Pristine Bay. Thanks to Kemberly, the office manager who facilitated my transportation to the golf course with Olvin, my driver ... without them it would have been more difficult to get there. The people at the Black Pearl were excellent hosts and the course is a wonderful experience and fun to play even though it was a bit wet.Unfortunately we weren't able to take advantage of the kayaks that were available at the resort to explore the nearby mangrove areas and islands. We would definitely be very happy to return to Turquoise Bay in the future.
We have been diving in Roatan and the Bay Islands for over 25 years and Turquoise Bay is the nicest place we have stayed. The rooms were clean and A/C worked great although we didn't need it for most of our stay, the weather was unusually cold. There was plenty of hot water and nice views. The food was excellent. The waiters, Pablo, Ronnie, and Kervie and everyone else were always there for beverages and anything else we needed. The buffet always had a delicious hot soup, and something being cooked fresh so it was always something hot in addition to the potatoes, vegetable and other meat, chicken or fish in the steam table. There were also bread. salad and dessert stations. The bar was well stocked and Roque made pina coladas with fresh pineapple and hand mixed margaritas. There is a nice beach with chairs, hammocks and bar service. At 4:30 they have snacks in the restaurant and Carlos and Kervie brought them out to us on the beach or at the pool without us even having to ask. Diving was with Subway Watersports. Their main location is at the resort with nice lockers right there. But when the weather does not permit diving on the North side of the Island (as it did not for most of our week) the take you by van to the South side where thy have a very nice facility at French Key. When you dive on the North side, you do 2 dives in the AM and come back to Turquoise Bay for lunch and can do a 3rd dive in the PM. When you dive on the South side they will take you to Little French Key, a cruise ship day trip, and will provide lunch there. Although it was inconvenient with the 15-20 minute drive each way, we were very appreciative that we could dive there and not miss any dives.Get the all inclusive package. It also includes horseback riding. And finally, we want to thank the resort for everything they did to bring us back for another night when our flight was cancelled. They went above and beyond anything we would have expected. We look forward to coming back.
