I am a dive shop owner and have taken groups all over the world for 40 years. Turquoise Bay is hands down the best all around resort I have ever taken a group to. From top to bottom: first let's start with the driving. Honduran diving is pretty much the same along the coast, the difference is in the local dive shop. Subway dive is a 5 star operation. It starts with Darren, the shop manager he sets the tone, his group orientation was everything that I as a instructor wanted for my group. Next is the captain and the crew: Capt. Kevin, Osmon and Osmon Jr were fantastic, they attended to our every need, set up and broke down gear. I had several new drivers and they made sure they were safe and new the limits on every dive. There professional attitude helped me with group responsibilities. There is nothing more I could have asked of this crew, the were fantastic. Now the resort, what a staff! Everyone goes out of their way to make sure that everything is perfect. The rooms were always super clean and typically decorated with fresh flowers! Kimberly at the front desk can coordinate anything your group needs, run to town for supplies etc. Last but not least is the kitchen/bar staff and food!! They wait on you hand and foot, again fantastic service! The chef's always presented the food in a very professional manner every meal, tables were set different every day, watermelon carvings were beautiful! The meals were diverse and plentiful, desserts amazing. Ronnie will entertain and keep you laughing throughout your dining experience!! Full service bar staff went out of their way to service you.To sum this up I will be bringing groups back to Turquoise Bay in the future.
My son and I just spent a fabulous week in Roatan at Turqoise Bay and give it Four Thumbs Up ( that was all we had). Reservations all made throught Padi Travel which has always treated us well. The resort is on the NW side of the island which is perfect for summer diving. In the winter when the trade winds shift, the dive operation (Subway Watersports) transfer the boats to the other side of the island and folks bus in each morning. 20 minutes tops. The resort is not top of the line luxury but set up perfectly for a 7 day dive experience. Rooms are scattered through the hillside and most offer a nice view of the bay, and yes when the sun is right, the turquoise is brilliant. All inclusive so each meal is set up, usually buffet style. Inside/outside dining of course. Food very good and certainly plentiful. Nice pool and beautiful beach with small pier for sunset viewing. (Plan on bug spray each day. Biting bugs will get you if you are exposed. I learned my lesson the hard way.)Staff is friendly and helpful. We had a water pump problem on our last day. No one panicked and the problem resolved before the end of the morning. Diversity in customers, but primarily from the States. Enjoyed our dives with the Colombian Open Water Students the most. So much fun. High recommedation for divers, and non divers who really just want to relax.
My wife and I just returned from a magnificent week in Roatan at the Turquoise Bay Dive & Beach Resort. The acid test: Heck, yes, we are already planning a return trip! The hotel staff is 100 % “over-the-top” in its friendliness, quality of service, and willingness to please. Special kudos to bartender/waiter Bobba, bartender Roque, and waiter Kervie for going so far out of their way to ensure my wife and I enjoyed our visit. Before the trip, I read slightly mixed reviews regarding the resort’s food quality. Both my wife and I thought they did a fabulous job. There are two or three main course offerings with each meal (their soups are outstanding!), and their desserts unfortunately tickled my sweet tooth. We had to be careful, as each late-afternoon’s “snacks” were so good we often failed to have much of an appetite for dinner. Again, the acid test: we both gained three pounds during the week.My wife, a non-diver, enjoyed several off-site activities, including ziplining, offered by friendly Cindy at the activities booth right outside the front door of the office.Beer drinkers, don’t despair about the resort offering only Honduran beers. The Salva Vida lager is darned good. There was nothing really special about the rooms -- it is a dive resort, after all -- but they were spacious, clean, and comfortable. Not overwhelming, but definitely comfortable and sufficient, and it’s nice the way the cottages are individually laid out around the well-manicured premises. (They were installing new furniture in the rooms as we were departing.)The hotel’s amenities were as nice as I’ve ever seen for a “dive resort.” A well-manicured beach with sun-protective palapas, a beautiful pier with a palapa out at the end of the pier’s long deck, a swimming pool with lounge chairs and tables around the pool, a comfortable inside bar, as well as tables around the pool and on the outside deck, all overlooking the bay. All very nicely done. How good was the service? It’s going to take a long time to wipe that smile off my face every time I think of Bobba, Roque, and Kervie.Fair warning: do NOT forget to use bug repellant! When all of the above is factored into the price for the week, it’s hard to describe Turquoise Bay as anything other than an outstanding value. It may not be a five-star resort, but it’s darned certain a five-star value!I can say unequivocally that you should have no hesitation about booking a stay at Turquoise Bay Dive & Beach Resort.
This is my second visit to Turquoise Bay Dive & Beach Resort and it is the BEST PLACE Ever! I was totally pleased with my accommodations, the food, the service, the dive operation and especially the STAFF. They took care of me and my entire group consisting of 15 adults and 15 youth on a dive/snorkel trip . I truly appreciated the way they looked out for the youth. The staff goes above and beyond what you might expect. They provided a class room for our use, staff member consults in their areas of expertise and arranged for transportation for our off resort activities. If you have a large group I doubt that you will find a better operation to assist you in making your trip successful. I have worked with my group annually since 2009 and having our dive/snorkel trip at Turquoise Bay Dive & Beach Resort for the past two years have been the best!
NABS Youth Educational Summit spent 7 days of youth snorkelers and divers under the close and safe guidance of the Subway Watersports Dive Center. Manager, Daren Ebanks, The DM and Boat captains were professional, friendly. accommodating and fantastic with all of our youth/adult divers and nondivers. This was our 2nd year with these guys and they always make us feel welcomed. The overall resort service was excellent. I would recommend Turquoise Bay Resort to both divers and non-divers, definitely family oriented. Beware of the No-See-Ums pests, you will definitely need to apply pest repellent frequently
