Turquoise Bay Dive and Beach Resort

We recently spent eight days at Turquoise Bay. It was great. The rooms were very nice. The food was buffet style with a good variety of things to choose from. Breakfast always included a made to order omelet bar. Evening meals often had a chef cooking food on the grill with the choice of two or three meats. Desserts were great. The dive masters for the ocean trips were very good. They went at a well thought out pace, not too rushed. They really emphasized safety and were mindful of all divers and their diverse abilities. We were well served on our Roatan trip and would highly recommend Turquoise Bay to others.
Many times when we travel, especially off the beaten track, the quality of the food and service can get questionable. That is not the situation here. We arrived two days ago. Our first meal was a buffet with seven varieties, chicken, fish, peas and rice, tacos, empanadas, salad bar, beans, lots more. The soups at this place are fantastic. Make sure you try them. So far I have had the best chicken soup ever, a seafood soup and a beef and potato soup. You could make a meal out of just one. Last night I was debating if I could go to dinner, I was full. My wife said she was hungry so we went. Thank goodness we did. It was sure and turf night. So grilled beef with a lobster tail, salad, soup, mashed potatoes, rice, and sautéed vegetables. We elected just to have a lobster tail, rice and vegetables as we were not that hungry. We got two lobster tails each and then the waiter asked if we wanted another one. We couldn't. I am sure many of you want to know about the desserts, all I can say is they look very nice, but I have never had any room to eat one. So, don't worry about the food here, the chef is excellent, her staff, very attentive to your needs, and there is plenty to eat.
We recently had to book Turquoise Bay as an emergency last minute option for another wedding venue that fell through. We were blown away by the service, beauty of the location, incredible food, and overall experience. Highly recommend. Jesus, Maria, and the entire staff were incredibly friendly. We felt like royalty the entire time.
Great resort staff, fantastic dive staff, good facilities, local food & Drinks. Loved my seven days there. If you need a softer mattress just ask, if its your birthday be prepared to celebrate. Like the horseback riding and well as the nightly entertainment.
I stayed at Turquoise Bay Dive & Beach Resort in October2016 on my dive trip to Roatan. The resort is located on the northeast side of Roatan, and is isolated and far from everything else on the island. If you are looking at doing things outside of the resort and going out on your own, this location probably is not the best choice as you will have to rely on taxis and shuttles, and pay for the transportation anywhere from $10-$40/trip. The property itself looks nice (who wouldn't love the beach views, right?!), the resort rooms are in average condition. The beds in the rooms are far from being comfortable: at least in room 4 they were hard as only a thin foam mattress was on top of the wooden bed frame. Ugh, sore back and neck in no time! The food at the resort is typical resort food: some days are better than the others meal-wise, nothing spectacular, and too much fried food for my taste though. The bar, however, is pretty good and the bartender Roque did a great job by being creative with drinks. Travel desk's Cindy is very accommodating and helpful, and tries her hardest to provide the visitors with top-notch customer service. In general, Turquoise Bay resort is an average location to stay at. If you are looking for the luxury or plan on doing activities outside of the resort, then probably the west end of the island is the place to go. Personally, I don't see myself going back to Turquoise Bay resort. It is not a bad place to stay at, but at the same time didn't "wow" me. There is a dive shop, Subway Watersports at the site too, the only one on this side of the island. I have written a separate review on them.
