This was our second visit to Turquoise Bay Dive Resort. The grounds are well-tended and beautiful. The pool was clean and the rooms were clean, quiet and comfortable. The beds are firm but we had no problems sleeping well. The staff are all extremely helpful and pleasant. Although we had very good service again this time, the attention to detail was just a notch below where it was a year ago. For example, this time we did have to ask for refills on drinks during meals (versus having the staff anticipate the need) but that was a very small issue. We came to dive again and found this to be an ideal resort - away from the west end (about a 30-min drive from the airport with transfers included) and as tranquil as it is beautiful. There are programs and performances after dinner on most nights. The internet worked well. Never tried the TV but heard no complaints about that. Had a great massage as well.The food is very healthy and plentiful -- served buffet style with enough choices to satisfy most folks. It is not haute cuisine but tasty and nourishing and always included salads and fresh fruit along with an assortment of meats, chicken or seafood as well as veggies and rice/beans. As others have noted, the made-to-order omelets are great and the soups are really exceptional. The only downside is that dinner is not served until 7pm and after diving, we were often very hungry by then. There are sometimes snacks around 5 but we did not find that to be the case every day. The staff will certainly find food for you if you are hungry, though!There is a bar at the restaurant but we did not partake - others were speaking highly of some of the specialty cocktails. For us, this resort has everything needed to make for a wonderful dive vacation. As is true around the island, the sand fleas and no-see-ums can be an issue. The resort recommends and sells repellent. We brought some and we used it. We did not use DEET because of the environmental impact on the reef so we had some bites from hanging out at the pool and husband had even more by the end of the stay. I was not itchy but if you attract them and are allergic, do make sure you use repellent if you plan to be around the pool or on the beach. Bring extra cash for tipping the staff. They work very hard and are wonderful folks. We plan to return and look forward to seeing may of them again on beautiful Roatan.
This is an amazing place with attentive staff and a worry-free atmosphere. Everyone is so helpful. The restaurant was especially helpful in helping food allergies, taking special requests, and getting us everything we needed. The staff tried to learn our names, which was great. I would definitely stay here again, and love the all-inclusive aspect so you never have to worry about carrying cash. I only have three suggestions: get some sort of communication system between the rooms and the front desk as it is quite a trek to some of the rooms (and very dark), so kind of frustrating when you have to go all the way down for a bottle of water or a question (a water-fill station up the three flights of stairs would be nice, too); label your foods with what it is and if it is gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan, etc. so that we don't have to constantly ask someone; don't leave the door open while cleaning the room as it lets sand flies/fleas in and then they bite guests all night. The last suggestion is key, and the resort needs to start raking for sand flies and taking the issue seriously. I cannot return here until I know the sand fly/flea issue is taken care of as I am covered with bites (as are many of my friends).
This was my third time to Roatan, but my first time to Turquois Bay resort. It is a great location away from West End and the busy dive sites around the West end. The reason is small but has everything one will need for a perfect island get away. The rooms are big and clean. The staff is friendly and most helpful. The onsite dive operation, Subway Watersports, is top notch. Great boats, great crew and excellent reefs. Will be returning for sure
This is the nicest dive resort we've ever stay with. The staff is top notch and so friendly, fun-loving, and service oriented! We never expected such first rate service. The food, drinks and atmosphere were incredible! Our rooms were so awesome (#11&12) with beach views that were stunning. The beach and facilities are great! Everything is so clean and beautiful! The staff works so hard here! One minor setback are the sand fleas. The staff warns to use Deet every day and we found out sand fleas will feast on you before you know it! Use Deet every time you're lounging on the beautiful beach! Deet seemed to work very well but we blew it off one afternoon and paid dearly.The dive company on site, Subway Dive, were equally fantastic! We had Onich and Capt. Steve who were so helpful and fun. We loved the south side of Roatan diving as the waves and current were ripping on the north (due to a hurricane by Costa Rica). It was a 15 minute van ride to a very comfortable beachfront resort that served us Lunch and stored our dive gear. We heard the diving is even better on the north but we loved our dives on the South. It's great to have both options when weather conditions affect your dives. Sebastian is the Dive Manager and he does everything to make sure you have great dives. We been to lots of dive resorts and this is definitely our favorite in the world! Thanks to the staff! We want to come back soon!Keith and family, Littleton, Colorado, U.S.A.
We recently spent eight days at Turquoise Bay. It was great. The rooms were very nice. The food was buffet style with a good variety of things to choose from. Breakfast always included a made to order omelet bar. Evening meals often had a chef cooking food on the grill with the choice of two or three meats. Desserts were great. The dive masters for the ocean trips were very good. They went at a well thought out pace, not too rushed. They really emphasized safety and were mindful of all divers and their diverse abilities. We were well served on our Roatan trip and would highly recommend Turquoise Bay to others.
