Hotel D'Inghilterra in Rome is a comfortable old friendly haven in the heart of this wonderful city. However, I do not feel it merits its 5 star rating. The location is excellent. The Staff were wonderful ( especially the young lady who checked us in ) The communal areas of the hotel were very nice, the bar is small but quaint. The junior suite, although reasonably sized was in HUGE need of updating. quite a homely, old feel with a lot of mismatched worn furniture, and colour scheme from 25 years ago ! The bathroom was very small and fixtures and fittings very dated ! NOT what you would expect from a FIVE star hotel. Having said all this, the mattress and bedding were superb, beautifully clean and fresh.I understand that the new owners are planning a renovation. i would love to come back when it's completed.
I've stayed here four times. The welcome from all staff is so heartwarming you don't want to leave. Everybody addresses each and every guest, intrusively. The bedrooms are a little tight but wonderfully comfortable and exceptionally well laid out. The sheets are so fantastic. Bathroom again a bit tight but you have everything you could ever want. Buffet breakfast top class with excellent service.
A very beautiful hotel which oozes charm and elegance from every inch with an exceptionally professional and efficient staff. The Bond bar is perfect for an aperitif after a day shopping in the fabulous designer brands and traditional local stores, all right on the doorstep. Rome's myriad attractions can be reached on foot or by very reasonably priced taxis. My room on the first floor was huge, with antique furniture, the most comfortable mattress and pillows ever and pristine bed linen. The marble bathroom was also large with an abundance of fluffy towels and quality bath products. I enjoyed the buzz of Roman life passing by on the pavements below (only heard with the window open). Others may prefer to opt for a higher floor where my friend had a smaller room but an amazing roof terrace. This hotel is the perfect antidote to the modern trend of characterless and impersonal establishments. All the staff, without exception, did their utmost to ensure that my stay was perfect from start to finish. I hope to return in the not too distant future and would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to friends and family.
Stunning 5 star hotel in the perfect spot in Rome. Such charming, friendly, warm staff. Especially Teodora, the lovely young, tall barman ( whose name I didn't get) and lovely Andrea, concierge. I was in 555. With my own roof terrace. Perfect for sunset views and for early morning street opera and other Roman sounds. The tiny bar was intimate, dark, cosy and stocked Gosset champagne - my favourite. Good bar food menu too for late night munchies. Beautiful sitting rooms dotted around with sumptious decoration and cosy sofas. Location was perfect. Stunning shops on hand - the usual designers and smaller Italian shops. My credit card is tired!
Hotel was great, staff very friendly, got a junior suite which was nice, but not worth the extra cost. It's rated five star, and to be honest if I was rated four I would have given five stars on my review but while everything was amazing and location is beyond perfect for our holiday plans, there were several things missing from it making a five star hotel rating. No pool, I believe no 24 hour room service, not even a kettle and some coffee/tea in the rooms. All in all expensive hotel relatively but you get a lot more for your money here than you would in other hotels with in the same area. Rooms were very very hot though had to sleep with the balcony doors open all night (middle of winter) which caused wake up continuously though out the night and early morning as drunks walked by or construction workers started their jobs. Air con didn't work in cold as much as I tried just seemed insistent on hot air. Possibly an issue in the room I had. Room 559. On that note the balcony is amazing. Could have spent the whole holiday there.
