Mercure Roma Piazza Bologna
- What's Included
Stayed for three nights in mid february. Didn't get off to a good start as my first night's sleep was disturbed by a relentless pulsing industrial type noise (and it was loud) coming from somewhere in the vicinity of my room. In my half awake state I was thinking maybe I should contact reception when the noise suddenly stopped. The next two nights were fine however and I slept okay. If it wasn't for the first night noise I would maybe have given four stars. Location is fine but you have to be aware you're not in the centre of things and may need to use public transport to visit the main sights. Piazza Bologna is quite a lively area but the hotel itself is in a quiet street. If you use the metro it's only a few stops to Termini and the Colosseum stop is on the same line. It takes about 40 mins to walk from the hotel to Termini.Breakfast was fine although there wasn't that much choice of fruit which seems to be an issue in some Accor hotels. The room safe is operated by using the magnetic stripe of a payment card instead of the more usual numeric codes. The hotel staff were all pleasant. I know I have only given three stars but I would consider staying here again as whilst not perfect it was reasonable value for money.
We stayed there for the New Year holidays. Booked two rooms, we found them separate, even not next to each other (one room was between ours), but that was not a problem. Rooms were comfortable, with large bathrooms. The staff are friendly and reception made a reservation in the nearby restaurant for us for New Year's Eve dinner. For that special day to find a table could be a problem, so we appreciated assistance from reception staff. We liked breakfasts in the hotel. Metro station is in a walking distance.
We have a memorable trip in Rome and this hotel will be a choice if we come to visit again. Even we stayed in the 2nd floor, it was quite and we had good sleep. While, the variety of food in the breakfast need some enhancements would be perfect.
nice ,clean, comfortable hotel, close to piazza bologna metro station, only three stops from termini and a quiet area, but enough restaurants, bars and shops to be of interest. good to get away from the hustle bustle of the city centre if you wish
We had a superior room with a small balcony. The hotel was not right in the center, but consequently the local area had a more lived in feel and having stayed several times in Rome before I would recommend staying outside of the main tourist area. The balcony did not have great views, but was very useful and big enough for a small table and chairs. The room was big and functional, although had one of those coffee nespresso machines which has the beating of me. This time I got it to suck in water and boil it only for it to then to escape from the bottom in a big puddle. Positive note bathrobes that fitted wide people. Staff friendly, but the desk is not in a position that means you walk right past it when you go through the door and walk to the lifts or stairs and I think this has a slight negative impact. This is no ones fault just a small structural issue. On another matter when we arrived there was a metro strike which left us stuck for a while at a mainline station at 9 pm fighting to get a taxi. With online check in it would be good to try and let people know if there were any specific local problems with transport to help you deal with the unexpected. Overall, it was a great hotel with friendly staff and we had a lovely trip.
