Very good and quiet location, a few minutes walk from Vittorio Emanuele station. The room was very spacious with a double bed (even though I booked a single room) and private bathroom. A fine view of the backyard garden. However, the contact with the hotel was very difficult as they didn't reply to my emails. I had to call them to get necessary information and have my booking confirmed. Primarily, I booked a room in Aladino Inn Hotel. On the day of my arrival I got an email with an informaion that my room is at Napoleon Guesthouse (probably owned by the same person). It was only a few minutes walking distance from the original stay but unnecessarily affected my plan of visiting. I wish I had been informed far in advance of any changes, not in the last minute.
My wife and I spent five nights on a city break here and I really think some of the previous reviews are harsh. It cost us £150.00 for the whole thing compared to some of the other hotels which charge that for a night. Its fair to say the building is very old as are most of the buildings in the district (this is city centre living). We called the guesthouse before flying to let them know we were coming and on arrival we were met immediately we had to wait 30 mins for the room to be ready and apart from it being a little dark (the window opens into a coutyard shaded from the sun but thats the same in most of the hotels here) the room was clean towels and bedding were clean and the bed was comfortable the bathroom was spotless and the staff were welcoming and friendly. This is not a luxury hotel but for the price we paid we were more than satisfied. I would stay again
Would not recommend this place to my worst enemy was terrible not at all what it said on booking.com the whole guesthouse needed a clean and the owners were rude and unhelpful. Next time I will be staying elsewhere
Had originally booked here for 3 nights whilst staying in Rome. The place it's self is extremely difficult to find, you have to buzz like with apartments and the whole building is essentially loads of hostels. There was no direction of where the hostel was when I entered the area, and the man who let me in had to come and fetch me. From the outset, this place looked like a dump, and it was. You walk through a corridor to go to the "reception" which is essentially the living space of the workers. As well as being the "reception" this room also was the laundry area, and DOGHOUSE! They had at least 3 dogs that were barking, laying on the sheets you use for guests, around you and sniffing your stuff. I am usually a fan of dogs, but not like that, that should be put somewhere when booking as I was very uncomfortable with this being dog friendly. Whilst being checked in, YouTube was playing very loudly a compilation of crocodile attacks on humans (that later switched to bulls) which I found disturbing. I had a problem checking in, with the man demanding more money when I was trying to explain to him that my card had been charged twice when I booked online. I had previously contacted both this hostel and booking.com and booking.com authorised my request and I received an email from Napoleon Guesthouse saying I would receive the money when I arrived. The man on "reception" had to ring the owner of the hostel as he did not understand what I was talking about, I was told I would receive the money "later". I was then given the tour of the hostel. The kitchen was a small and very dirty area that I wouldn't want to sit in let alone cook, from this room directly was the toilet and bathroom, which were horrific. I had booked a 4-bed dorm and was shown a double bed with 2 singles squished in, I was told that the double bed was mine, with 2 guys in the singles. I felt very uncomfortable in the room itself, and I have shared dorms with guys before. It was a non smoking room but smoke was very strong and unpleasant. I had to ask whether there was a key or anything because I didn't know how to enter the building at all. Throughout this, the staff were exceptionally rude. Being very laid back and not caring at all about the people in the hostel. The staff are probably the worst thing about the hostel, and that is saying something. I stayed here for around 1 hour tops, in which I was talking to family on the phone and very upset and feeling very uncomfortable. I managed to book another hostel, and when I went to check out, the staff were confused as to what I was saying. Apparently "I don't like it here, I'm leaving" is hard to understand. Whilst having arguments with the staff as they refused to acknowledge anything could be wrong, I asked for my double charged money back, for this I had to go on the phone to the owner, who was extremely reluctant to return the money wrongfully charged. After being told to wait in the kitchen until the owner arrived, I was met with a rude man who asked what was wrong, and he also didn't understand "I hate it here". He tried to offer me another room, and then another hostel that I presumed he owned. I asked for the money and he tutted and spat at me before getting out his wallet. PLEASE DONT STAY HERE I URGE YOU TO FIND ANYWHERE ELSE! The staff are so so rudeThe place is a dumpIt isn't safe at allThere are hostels for cheaper just down the road that are clean and safe, don't go here!!!!!
There are plenty more hostels around Termini if you like thé location. There are plenty more cheap hostels in Rome if you like thé price. Pay a little more and you will have a much better experience. This hostel here has one of thé most rudest, inpolite, incapable staff. Smelly dogs (i'm a doglover), are Running around and sitting on couches and furniture. Breakfast? Never seen any at 9 AM. Thé hostel is located in a very bad neighbourhood. People get robbed on thé way from Termini to this hostel. And I don't talk about pickpocketers, I'm talking about jumpers. A group of Maghreb boys who attack you. God forgive when I told thé staff that happened to me. Their answer was: it's your fault. Like, I had to Pardon me that a group of People forced me on thé ground and took my wallet with documents and phone. What a nightmare to fly back home that day. Did they help? Can't say. When I needed thé computer there, they've told me I can't use it too much, that I need to go outside. With no money. With no smartphone. They literally forced me outside back on those Streets in a foreign country. I was absolutely disgusted. I'm glad to see that I'm not thé only one who thinks about this hostel. Also, all thé positive reviews I've read here, were from women. Ofcourse, that one rude guy who probably only acts Nice to women in order to win something from them. Disgusting.
