We stayed here for 3 nights with 3 teenage kids. Hotel was funky we loved it on arrival . However we dined in the restaurant for dinner that night after travelling we were tired and did not want to venture out and found the staff In Dining area helpful at first had our starter then cane main we ordered fried Chicken and KFC would have been improvement on what they served . After we finished our main course we were not cleared after 5 , 10 , 15 mins I had to go to reception to tell the manager that the waiting staff were playing fuse ball in bar with curtain Pulled . Totally rude not cleared away no dessert menu offered they were having fun and left us sit at our table . being in the hospitality trade myself I find this in acceptable I reported it to manager to later find manager and staff sniggering laughing at us totally unprofessional The next day we found the same said bar staff totally rude to us wen we ordered drinks again unprofessional . The breakfast is terrible . No choice for kids the fruit is out of tins and not fresh fruit very disappointed In our stay as this was our 20th wedding anniversary and we spent our honeymoon in Rome I found this disgusting and unprofessionally run as opposed to the hotel we stayed in 20 yrs ago also the toilets in the hotel by the breakfast area and dining area look like a public toilet which hadn't been cleaned in years disgusting for a said 4 star hotel would not stay here ever again .
Great quiet location in Trastevere. Just off main rd. 2 min walk to tram that takes you into the heart of everything. Also easy walking to mist places. Very comfortable room. Really helpful friendly staff & fabulous breakfast included.
Very good room and service. The bedding was comfortable and the room was bigger than we had expected. The wifi connection was very good (at least from our room) and quick. The included breakfast was ok and they had a restaurant as another alternative. Overall our stay was very comfortable and relaxing, thanks to the Hotel Ripa Roma. Also, Trastevere is a wonderful part of Rome, beautiful, historic and close to the city center.
Before I get into details: powerful AC and strong free wi-fi.Staying here really made our trip to Rome perfect. The hotel lobby and rooms are decorated like you are staying inside a modern art gallery. Something about looking at all the ancient art all day, and then "coming home" to our modern-art style room in Trastevere (which has a very lively, less touristy vibe), really tied the whole experience together. Like we got to experience Rome both "then,' and "now."The bed was one large bed, not two twins pushed together, and the mattress was very comfortable. In addition to the over-the-top breakfast buffet, they always had a table to-go breakfast or snack items and drinks on your way out of the lobby. So thoughtful! Just to name a few: croissants, apples, hard-boiled eggs, cookies, and beverages. There was a kettle and tea in the room, which is an "extra," not standard in Italy.PERFECT location. We laughed after the fact that we were afraid staying in Trastevere would be too far away. It was perfect because there were less-touristy (not overpriced, more authentic) restaurants and mini-marts where you could buy beverages, toothpaste, etc. at normal prices. There is a tram stop right on the corner of the hotel's street that takes you to the city center. Number 8 tram to Piazzale Venezia. We took the #8 tram back and forth every day. Buy tickets for 1.50 euro at any tobacco shop or newstand (they are everywhere), or buy a 72 hour pass. You can walk to all the historic sites from the Piazzale Venezia stop. Being in Trastevere also puts you right near the river, which is gorgeous, and we found an abundance of amazing restaurants, many of which seemed to stay open later. The actual hotel street was one back from the main road, so it stayed very quite, didn't see any people loitering outside hotel. The breakfast buffet was extraordinary. Everything you could imagine, epresso/latte/capuccino machine. Hot and cold foods, fruits, pastries, juices, everything. Almost at the level of a cruise ship buffet. It is hard to tell from pictures online what to expect, because more contemporary decor can look sort of barren, bleak, and cheap in pictutres...but this hotel was our favorite out of the 4 we stayed at in Italy. I have travelled quite a bit within the USA and other countries, and this hotel was unique and exceeded expectations. I cannot fathom how their reviews are not higher. Maybe there are fake ones from competitors or people trying to scare tourists away from Trastevere to keep it authentic. This hotel had more English-speaking guests (British, Australian, American) than other hotels we stayed at, and the staff were very fluent speakers. Almost every hotel in the world the staff can "speak," English in that they can recite their check-in points to you, but if you ask a specific question, about something around town, etc, they may not understand you. All the staff here seemed to be able to understand and give us advice, directions, etc., in English. And they had more people working so service was faster.
This hotel was so quirky-we loved it! It has a cool vibe, with a huge statue of a French bulldog in reception, gorilla, emu etc. The standard room was more than adequate, as we didn't go to Rome to spend all our time in our room anyway!Trastevere is a great location-relaxed and quieter than the centre, but easily reached by bus or tram very quickly. The bar and restaurant are beautiful, and all of the staff went out of their way to help with any queries. Would definitely stay again-hoping to try a suite!
