On short notice, my wife and I with another couple, decided to stay 2 nights in Rome to break our return journey to France. Our friends knew Trastevere well from previous trips so we just needed to source a hotel. “Hotel Ripa Roma” was selected based on availability, price and photos through Trip advisor and our choice did not disappoint. The reception staff were warm and friendly and we were offered an upgrade to a suite with a balcony. The rooms were modern and comfortable with heavenly beds! The whole hotel had an aura of modern sophistication with a quirky eclectic twist. Breakfast was offered in an interesting white space with comfortable moulded chairs, decorated with giant coloured animal sculptures and golden busts on the walls. The food was plentiful and varied with excellent choices for every diet, with several coffee machines. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would be happy to recommend to those wanting a comfortable, no frills but stylish experience in a quiet and convenient part of Rome.
Stayed here for one night on a Sunday in July. Checked in to be given an upgrade to an executive room with a balcony. The room was well decorated in contemporary white with modern furnishings and a decent bathroom with a good shower. The executive room was spacious and had a kettle and hairdryer. Breakfast spread was plentiful and there was a selection of teas to chose from. Location is great for the centre of Trastevere which is about a 10-15 minute walk away. I would stay again and definitely pay the extra €20 for the exec room.
We arrived in Rome a day ahead of schedule and our reserved hotel was unable to accommodate us early so we booked a room at Hotel Ripa for one night through a tourist office in Termini train station. The location was in a commercial area. The hotel decor is very contemporary with giant modern sculptures of dogs etc. and layout of our room was somewhat claustrophobic. The bed area was enclosed with a combination wardrobe/room divider separating the sleeping area from the front area with a worn sofa bed. The bath had a tub/shower. The walls were scuffed. There was a sliding door with Terrace overlooking an alley with an office building across the way but no furniture on the Terrace. There is a restaurant and bar area with Happy Hour and generous hors d'oeuvres. The staff were pleasant and helpful. You are given a room key on a large 8 in. "fish" key fob and have to turn it in to desk in exchange for a key card each time you exit the hotel which seemed unnecessary and cumbersome. The breakfast was generous with a lot of variety of meats, cheese, eggs, sausage and pastries, coffees and teas but the dining area design was cold, bright white and like entering a space station. The hotel seemed to cater to business people. and may be desirable We were disappointed.
A modern low priced business type hotel located in Trastevere. Tram is located not far from hotel and the Huge sunday Porta Portese flea market is just a few blocks up the street. I have stayed here 3 times in the last 10 years, A bargain in Rome.
