What a beautiful place! Breathtaking views, spacious comfortable room, great food and service. Spade45 and Nellie were wonderful to visit with us and tell us about the entertainment and the shows. The Fire Show was spectacular! We really enjoyed our stay there.
We never return to a hotel however this was our 3rd stay at the Grand Palladium Lady Hamilton and we'll go back again. We have nothing bad to say about the resort, location and the wonderful staff - whoever you come in to contact with in the hotel there is always a smile and a greeting. Yes service is sometimes 'relaxed' but come on, you've chosen to chill out in Jamaica - just go with the flow! I cannot recommend this resort more highly.
Please read the full review.I am very surprised that this resort as such good reviews, as that was one of the reason we booked this resort. Let me begin with our experience here. We booked this resort with a group of 16 (5 families) all staying different length. My family and i were the first one to check in for 5 nights. From the moment we arrived we experienced nothing but horrible service. Check in / LobbyWe approached the front desk for check-in and based on the booking we were given a far far away room and were told if we want something close we have to pay $30 extra/day which will be ocean view. I was not happy about it, but she started looking for a room. 15 mins passed and nothing was found, after that she asked me to take a seat and she will call me once she finds something, i waited for 30 mins and in the mean time she forgot about us and was helping other guests. I was very upset and requested her to please find us a room ASAP. She ended up taking a room that was reserved for some one else and gave it to us and was not ocean view but close to the pool. We were tired so we took the room.Room, HousekeepingOnce we arrived at the room we decided to freshen up and order room service for food, guess what there were no towels, we called up the front desk and requested them to send us towels, it took 2 hours and multiple phone calls to get the towels to our room. Food arrived after 1 hour wait, and we ordered 3 dishes they only sent us 1 and they apologized for the mix-up and rest of the dished never showed up. After that we decided to go the sports bar as that was the only restaurant open, they had finger food available with self service. So we ordered 2 chicken sandwiches from the menu and started with self serve fries and nachos. It took them 1 hour to bring us the 2 chicken sandwich. At this time i lost it and went straight to the front desk hoping to resolve all the issues. I asked for the manager and the lady at front desk said requested to give her a chance to fix things and not call the manager. OK i gave her chance hoping that such service issues will not continue. It was 9 pm and we had such finished dinner and headed back to the the room. They had not made the sofa bed ready even after mentioning it to them at 3 pm when we entered the room, we were tired and decided to make the sofa bed myself and called for extra blanket, my kids fell asleep on the main bed and i waited for the blanket for 1 hour, i was told its in laundry i am like you run such a huge property and dont have extra clean blankets, at that time a nice lady outside our room from housekeeping explained that since you were given another guests room who was arriving the next day, this room was not prepared for arrival, finally she went to the storage room and got me a blanket, which means front desk once again lied to meDishonesty from the employees is very consistent at this property. Here is another example explain in FoodFood/Restaurants Buffet is not bad, but they only open both of them when the property is busy mostly they open one and its best that you get there early or else will have long lines. We decided to feed only bananas to my 1 year old at the buffet breakfast, one day 1 they had bananas, rest of the days i had to consistently ask the server to get us bananas, and we were told they are out of bananas and guess what some one will bring the bananas to us on our table so people just lie cause they dont want to go an extra mile to find us the banana, at times i had to go from bar to bar to ask for Bananas and found it that way.Ala Carte restaurants are equally bad in service, they wont seat you unless you party is there, thats fine but we have kids and i requested them to seat us cause kids were hungry and we were waiting for my wife, they wont let us sit.We went to the Asian restaurant, they served us cold fish and when asked for replacement, we were told kitchen is closed, we got up and left and ended up eating at the buffet.Good partBar employees are friendly and nice - Roy at beach bar is amazing. Swimming pools is amazing, Buffet server Oderallo is also nice and very helpful. Over all i will never go to this property again, and i will not recommend any one else either i felt like we were ripped off as for the price we paid we were expecting everything exception
To be honest, I have ceased counting my visits to the Grand Palladium. I have been going there since its opening and it still holds a special place in my heart. The staff continues to be warm and friendly, I trust them with the many groups I send.My favourite places are the sports bar, the Poseidon area by the beach, and Ms Lou's bar. I love what they have done with the Lady Hamilton Villas, the rooms are chic and vibrant, the bathroom is lavish and inviting. The Jacuzzi is my favorite in the Island because it is so big, I can stay there soaking away for hours. The beauty now is that I really do not have to leave my room if I do not want to with the addition of room service to these room. How could I end without commenting on the spa? The wet area is my hang out spot and I refuse to check out without feeling the divine thrills that the water therapy offers.
I'm actually writing this review while staying at the Lady Hamilton. The rooms look just like the pictures. It's beautiful. So far, the absolute best restaurant is the Japanese Lotus House. Our chef, Jason a.k.a. Chef Ching Ching, was the best I've ever experienced in this type of dining establishment- highly entertaining and a great cook. The worst experience we've had was in Chez Bubba - a highly recommended steak house. We were seated at 7:30 and didn't receive our food until after 9. The food was mediocre at best and one steak that was supposed to be well done came out medium rare. We thought that perhaps we were just unlucky or perhaps our server had forgotten to put in our order, but we heard from another couple that they had also had a bad experience. You can also get a steak at the Mexican restaurant, and the service will be much better. The beaches are lovely and there are plenty of chairs available. They do have one working catamaran, a couple of paddle boats, and a stand up paddleboard that you can check out for free. They also have several free kayaks, but we were told that they only had 3 paddles. The hot tubs in the pools were not working during our visit. I couldn't rate the sleep quality very high because of the noises made by the tree frogs all night long. There is a rather large gap under the door to the room. I'm not sure why. The staff was very nice. Overall, we would definitely return.
