Another great visit!!

We just got back from our 8th visit to the resort. Each year there are always new improvements this year they have redone one of the buffets and it looks super It's always nice to see some of the familiar faces. We always find the staff friendly and helpful. Cant wait to go back next year.

Grand Potential at the Lady Hamilton

Traveled to Jamaica last week with a total of 10 passengers, age range from 6-52. We occupied 3 rooms, 2 jr suites and 1 one bedroom suite. As advised, we emailed the hotel one week prior to arrival – upon check in none of our requests were filled (to be in the same villa, 2 beds for the brother & sister rooming together). The front desk was unable to fulfill my requests which I found odd since the hotel was not at capacity. Three days into the vacation my email was returned and stated they hope we were enjoying our vacation and not too disappointed with the rooms! All rooms were spacious and housekeeping was spot on! We all agreed that all our beds were too hard and not fans of the plastic sheets draped over the mattress. The rooms were clean but found large spots of mildew on the balcony/terrace floors and chaise loungers to want to spend time out there which was a pity since we did have a nice view of the sea. We were separated into different villas – was able to observe that although the rooms were clean, the interior of the villas were not – each one I visited was in dire need of patching, painting and a good scrubbing around the baseboards and corners – all entry room doors need to be re-stained. All public areas were spotless! This property is large so plenty of choices to entertain guests of all ages – enjoyed all the beaches, bars and pools on property. There are a lot of nice little nooks that you have to seek out and you’ll be glad you discovered them. Entertainment staff during the day and night shows were wonderful – especially appreciate since I know these are long days for them! Restaurants took us a few days to figure out – they are not all open every night – the only schedule we found to decipher this information was in the lobby and unfortunately we were not told this upon check-in. The buffet choices were plentiful and the menus in the restaurants offered much to choose from as well. At the restaurants we found the service to be consistently slow and often times our appetizes and main entrees were cold .Jerk Chicken hut was wonderful and enjoyed mingling with the staff down by the beach. Buffet food was always kept at accurate temperatures with a lot of variety throughout the week. The breakfast champagne and bloody mary bar was a god send on most mornings! This hotel offers a lot of amenities but for the price, I feel that the food and overall cleanliness of the resort needs to be addressed before we return – we found all employees delightful and wish them nothing but the best!

Our favourite family resort

We are coming back second year. It is simply everything a family can ask for. Lots of restaurants with no need of booking in advance. Great quality food, lots of fresh fruits and juices. Tons of ice cream 😁😁. Very friendly staff. Great shows every night. Kids water park 2 to 3 beach coves. Modern rooms, daycare with pool and playground, mascot show and much more and a dream view . We love this resort.

Fantastic wedding!

I just had my wedding week at the Grand Palladium Lady Hamilton January 10-16, 2018. Our wedding included about 55 guest with 6 bridesmaids and 7 groomsmen and it was absolutely wonderful. The planning was a little slow to start when I reached out to the wedding staff about a year in advanced- I am a total planner and wanted everything done immediately. They were taking about a week to respond and I got a little annoyed at that. After doing some research and reading reviews I found this is just the way they handle it. They pump out several weddings a week and don’t need a year to plan it. About a month away from the date, my wedding planner, was responding the same day. We were welcomed VIP with our own private table and welcome drink where our planner explained everything. We scheduled a walkthrough and a wedding overview the day before the wedding. We upgraded to the honeymoon suit because the upgrade included with our package was just a bigger suit. We rented a private catamaran through the water sports team onsite with Jean Dixon the Friday before the wedding and it was amazing!! I recommend that excursion 100%. Our rehearsal dinner was at the Poseidon for about 30 people. The dinner was good for resort food and the service was excellent. The wedding - The flowers were amazing and everything I wanted but I paid for all the upgraded flowers, the Dj was incredible and kept the party going, the wedding planner (Thorna) really took care of everything. I chose to go with another photographer because they could not tell me who was going to be the photographer at my wedding and therefor could not show me their work. I was not comfortable with them just sending anyone so I went with Stacey Clarke and she was fantastic. I brought a few of my own decorations and they set them up perfectly. I chose the Bliss and Bloom packages which covered about 20 people, so be aware they will charge you for every single thing over 20 people. It was $20 per person at the ceremony, $3 for napkins, $10 chair rentals - I mean everything. We had a private reception at the Blue Lagoon and chose the Surf & Turf food options- it was very good. We chose to do the blue lighting ($800) which was totally worth it because it made the whole area a pretty hue, we rented 6 cooling fans ($1,000) and I’m so glad we did because the dance floor was so hot! We rented the reception for another hour ($8pp) which I think was worth it. Overall I totally recommend having your wedding at this resort - realize everyone there lives on island time so expect to wait for things to start and expect nothing will be exactly on time. They do charge for everything that is over your package number so if you want to stay in budget have a small amount of guests. They also have a lot of “upgrades” you end up paying for that I thought were included. The staff at the resort are so friendly and if you tip a few bucks to the bartenders and servers you will be treated wonderfully. If you don’t tip- expect a wait. If you’re easy going and go in to it knowing this is an island that runs on island time - you’ll have a wonderful experience.
