Our stay last week at Half Moon simply couldn't have been better. Every detail was perfect, and no expense was spared in ensuring that our visit was perfect. First, I must mention the staff. They were consistently accommodating, generous, and kind. Regardless of where we were on the resort, every staff member greeted us and asked how we were doing. They were genuinely caring and warm, and were the most memorable part of our stay.Second, the suites were roomy, comfortable, and very clean. They far exceeded our expectations, we were very comfortable our whole stay. The bedding was luxurious and we slept so deeply. In fact, after I left, I contacted the hotel to see where I could purchase the lovely pillows. The wonderful concierge, Carole, went through great lengths to help me find the brand and manufacturer of the pillows (thank you Carole!).Finally, the beaches were so beautiful and unspoiled. There were always chairs available, and always it felt very private. Regardless of where we were sitting, the staff would find us to bring us samples of the freshly cut fruit or smoothies. The level of service was second to none, we couldn't be happier with our stay. The staff was the best we have experienced, and we will definitely be returning.
What more can I say.......this place does not hold a light to classy acts in Europe.Beach is narrow and steep, drinks are a ridiculous rip off ,food in all restaurants is poor, rooms are 3 star at best ,tired and poorly specified.officious rules and regulations from having poor beach furniture to snorkels to rip off prices for trips and excursions left a bad taste......will definately stick to Europe in future and leave this place to our American friends who seem to like the place......oh well horses for courses!!
My family recently stayed at Half Moon and while the resort is beautiful, I was expecting a level of service given its a5 star property, but unfortunately it just never lived up to that expectation. The pros - the grounds are beautiful, lush green on 1 side, beach on the other. we stayed in a hibiscus room that was beautiful, spacious and had a nice walkout to the ocean. It was centrally located to the pools, spa, restaurants and beach. The room was always clean and the bathroom huge in size. Food was very good, with the best meal at sugar mill but all were good. There was moments of great 5 star service but was just that, moments and in no way consistent. 1 day by the pool (we were there most days) the pool attendant came around to clean your sunglasses, another day a landscaper climbed a tree to get us fresh coconut water (cut open with a straw). Had a massage at the spa that was good. Cons - I really was quite surprised but service overall was lacking. Again my feedback is based upon the price-point and 5 star rating, so feel these are things that happen at other resorts I have stayed at of the same caliber. For example - Pool attendant never fixed our chairs with towels etc (we had to go to the towel stand and grab them and set them up on the chairs), wasn't until the last day there that 1 particular attendant asked if we wanted a drink (if we did prior to that we had to get them from the bar ourselves), yoga instructor never showed 1 morning, loud construction going on during my massage, (loud jack hammering isn't exactly what I was hoping for during my massage. while i understand there is little the masseuse can do when their is construction happening at the resort, but felt they should have mentioned it prior to the service.) At dinner 1 night we had to ask the server 3 times for a 2nd bottle of wine before it was finally brought out and then had to pour it ourselves as it just didn't appear the server was monitoring the table well enough to know our glasses were empty. 1 morning getting coffee from the coffee bar, I found the server to be borderline rude, when I asked her if there were anymore tea bags, she answered with a curt no and basically dismissed me without even looking in my direction. Even though the resort grounds were gorgeous, it is a shame the service doesn't match that because we would elect to stay elsewhere if headed back to Jamaica.
Traveled with 3 other adults and 2 small children.Location: Conveniently located 10-15 min away from Sangster Intl airport, yet property still feels remote. Hotel is a throwback. Very tasteful. Backdrop is gorgeous between mountains on one side and beach/sea on the other.Rooms: Stayed in Hibiscus suite. Spacious rooms overlook the ocean which is only feet away. Felt so private. Had patio and backyard which made for enjoyable dinners overlooking the ocean. Bathtubs are luxuriously large. Only issue: there was an afternoon when either our suite and/or property lost cold water due to weather. However, hotel remedied the situation.Activities: They offer so many! Tennis, golf, putt putt, horseback riding, bikes, 3 pools, fitness center, yoga and other classes, incredible spa, water sports, chess/backgammon. Highlight: Doing yoga in a hut that juts into the sea.Restaurants: Several to choose from - all with excellent service and food. We ate most of our meals at Seagrape and never got sick of it.Service/staff: Hard to choose what made this trip so wonderful, but the service/staff certainly stands out. Almost every staff member we came in contact with was friendly, helpful and warm. Can't remember everyone's names, but a few to highlight: Sancia (spa), Nickeisha, Dudley, Joy, and Bertram at restaurants. Paul the bellhop. Carole the concierge. Stacy Ann at the pool. Jermaine at the equestrian center. Even the guests seemed more friendly than I've encountered at other hotels - perhaps the staff sets the tone.Great for children: Staff seemed to love children. They were so kind to my kids and my kids loved them. Anancy Children Village has a playground, kiddie pool and provides classes for full or half day. We did not sign up for the classes, but enjoyed the playground and pool. Child bikes and bikes with baby seats are available. Car seats were provided for travel to and from airport. Equestrian center has a whole program catered to children and families - also have dogs, frogs, birds, donkeys, goats and rabbits for petting.Construction: The property is undergoing a major renovation to expand to twice the size - more pools, restaurants, etc. This is scheduled to be done next winter. However, this did not affect our stay AT ALL. I am looking forward to traveling here again as soon as possible!
I’ve been staying at the Half Moon for years. Although we have a home in JA on business trips it’s easier to stay here than travel two hours to our vacation home. The service is amazing I would suggest leaving off the property for authentic Jamaica cuisine.
