Amazing property but the highlight was the fantastic chef.

I visited Montego Bay on business and stayed at The Half Moon for 2 nights. The room is gorgeous. Really well appointed and spacious with the most beautiful ocean view. I was really concerned about my meals though. Being on a doctor monitored hypoallergenic, anti-inflammatory diet at the moment doesn't fit well with the sumptuous cuisine I normally enjoy in Jamaica. My fears were unfounded. My first meal here was at Sugar Mill and Chef Nicholas came from the kitchen to discuss. I was blown away by the creatively prepared and absolutely delicious meal. He reassured me that if he wasn't around, notes would be available for future meals. Breakfast the next morning.... There he was and again, exceeded my expectations. I can't wait for tonight's dinner. Thank you so much chef, you saved the day. I hope to return with clearance for a widened diet regime. I can only imagine what the 'usual' fare would be like. Cheers.

We just got back from an eight day stay at Half Moon. It is one of my favorite places on earth. We always stay in the Hibiscus Suites which are steps away from the ocean, pools and gym and close to the main house. The service is exceptional, the restaurants are extremely good and a band plays every evening at cocktail hour. The yoga instructors are the the best of any resort I've been to and they offer several classes a day in the most spectacular setting. I hope to be back again next year.

Has it all in style

multiple beach, tennis, golf, horses, many food, all kinds of pools has it all. Spa is fantastic, Kiesha gave the best massage ever. Try the ocean swim on horseback, fantastic fun. Would make a great family reunion venue.

Great for Families with Small Kids

This was our best family vacation ever, and we will definitely go back. We were a family of four with kids aged 5 and 7. We stayed in the Hibiscus suites with adjoining rooms for us and the kids. The location was great, allowing a quick walk over to Lester's Cafe to get our morning coffee and croissants and easy access to the kids pool and a walkout onto our personal little stretch of completely waveless beach. After the first day, we pretty much let the kids run wild, as the ocean was like glass next to the rooms and everything was so easy to get to.The spa was truly beautiful. I had several treatments, all of which were high quality. But the best part of the spa was just being able to loll around in all the lovely relaxation areas they had carved out. If I were being nit-picky I would suggest that they be more attentive and creative with the "small" amenitites... A little more variety in the small bites food offerings and little beverages. Also, the hot tub was out of order when we were there, but these little nits don't take away from the incredibly relaxing atmosphere. For the kids, they actually (for the first time at any resort) loved the kids club! What a blessing. This kids club actually takes them all over the resort to groom the horses, go sailing, swimming every day, and other activities. Much better than what so many resorts offer... a little room stocked with video games. This freed we adults up to do a real sailing excursion and not feel guilty for ditching the kids. The absolute highlight though (for us) was the equestrian center. We took lessons and did some rides, but really we just loved spending time with the horses. Miss Trina, the stable owner, was so kind in letting us baby her horses with apple gifts (from the spa) and letting my little ones help with grooming. They loved every minute and are begging to return. Finally, a word about food prices. We adults are (mostly) non-drinkers, and we so we didn't add on many bar tabs. We basically just ate three regular meals a day ... we did in-room dining a few times, several evening buffets, and all our breakfasts were light food from Lester's. I did supplement our food with a box of cheerios for the kids and some cookies and nuts we brought from home, which saved us on expensive mid-afternoon snack runs. We spent a total of just under $2000 for 18 meals and two bar drinks over 6 days stay for 2 adults and 2 kids. This included tipping at about 15% for most meals. So, hope that's helpful for people who want to do the math on the all-inclusive vs. a la carte. If you are light or non-drinkers, a la carte may be right for you.
