Hilton Rose Hall Resort & Spa

The Hilton Rose Hall is a great family resort for travelers looking for plenty of activities and things to do. The staff at the resort are incredibly pleasant and make a great effort in getting to know their clients. The resort is also most noted for its pools and water parks. Some parts of the waterpark are fashioned with waterslides, making it perfect for kids. There is also a great beach area with plenty of activities to do.
Hilton Rose Hall Resort & Spa sits on a magnificent beach and boasts the wonderful Cinnamon Hill 18-hole Ocean Championship Golf Course designed by Robert von Hagge. The resort also has Sugar Mill Falls, a fantastic water park and a terrific place for the entire family.
Location: On the beach, 20 minutes to Montego Bay, 10 minutes from the airport.
This was my second stay in this hotel, 1st time i was by myself and it was awesome. After convincing my husband to book our Honey Moon at the Hilton, a week before our travel date I got an email saying that the water park will be closed. Thanks Hilton !!! you should have let us known of the construction plans when we booked the vacation. It just wasn't the same, my husband was looking forward to the lazy river and the bar in the pool. Other than the disappointment and construction the food was great and staff are very very nice.
Overall, Hilton Rose Hall is a very nice resort with a welcoming staff, a beautiful beach and a great variety of recreational outlets. Guests are greeted upon check in with a tropical cocktail and the staff work hard to accommodate a smooth check in. The beach to the right of the pool is very well maintained and expansive with chairs and shaded areas available to those who arrive early. They also have an aquatics center where you can take out Hobie cats, kayaks and water trikes. It's located a short distance from the airport, so you can get from your plane to the beach in no time. The adjacent golf course is very nice and challenging and offers some picturesque settings at sunset even for non-golfers.The only real issue we had is with the dining program and their ability to handle food allergies. As do most all-inclusives, Rose Hall has a number of choices for lunch, but a limited number of choices for dinner. Fresh is there three-meal buffet restaurant. It's pretty pedestrian, with a variety of choices, but nothing that stands out as being little more than cafeteria-style fare. Certainly, it pales in comparison to the RIU Palace Costa Rica. It's fine for breakfast and an occasional lunch, but we found it lacking at dinner time. At dinner, your options are limited to Fresh, Moonstone and a small assortment of reservation-only restaurants. For the reservation-only restaurants, we found that when we arrived on Sunday, most of the restaurants were either booked through Thursday or only had availability in the last hour of operation. We only had our 16-year-old along, so we made the late dining option work, but I did hear a mother of smaller children complain that the available options were too late to accommodate them. Of the reservation-only restaurants, Three Palms is best with great service, view, wine list and cuisine. The Italian restaurant, Luna di Mare was fine, but it's in a decorated ballroom so the ambiance is a bit strange. Food and service were fine, though. Moonstone has good pizza, but we ran into an issue there. It was a night where we were hoping to catch an earlier meal than was available at the reservation only restaurants. We walked up and were told we needed to wait 30 minutes for a table. No big deal. More than 90 minutes later we were seated! I felt bad for the hostess. The tables weren't turning and she had several of very upset customers who were waiting well beyond the estimated time. It just spoke of the resorts need to add more dining options. (Note: it appears they may have changed Moonstone to be a pasta bar from menu-service since our stay. Perhaps that has helped)The other dining issue has to do with their protocols and training in regard to handling food allergies. My son is allergic to dairy, eggs and peanuts. We brought this up upon check in and they brought in a chef supervisor who assured us they deal with food allergies all the time and that we just needed to make the chef in each location aware. That sounded perfect and was in line with what we experience at resorts with excellent protocols. The problem: at nearly every restaurant, the waitstaff and chefs acted like they didn't know what we were talking about. It is obvious, that there's a disconnect between the resort's intent and their training and accountability. We were fortunate that our son did not have a reaction, but the anxiety caused when it appears food service aren't careful keeps him from enjoying a meal. It was disappointing to have such a professional interaction on day-one and then to realize the staff are not all on board. One notable exception was our waiter at Three Palms. While he did almost make the mistake of serving my son from a cross contaminated salad dressing container, he thanked us for pointing out the mistake, ensured the chef knew of his allergies and remembered his allergies when we returned two nights later. That put my son's mind at ease and he enjoyed that meal the most.
Excellent resort for family. Friendly and courteous staff, scrumptious food and lovely grounds. I would gladly recommend this resort to my family and friends. check in process went smoothly, bell hop was very pleasant and polite. The grounds was impeccable and very clean. Overall very family oriented.
This resort was going through a renovation during our stay. Therefore 1/2 of the rooms were closed and this was VERY GOOD for our stay as the occupancy was below 50% the entire time. The Water Park opened during our 2nd day and this was great for the kids (and adults!). The slides were fun and the lazy river wasn't really lazy, it moved pretty good, you didn't need any effort to go around it. The room we had was 707 and it had an excellent view of the ocean and golf course. We were upgraded due to being Hilton Gold Members, well worth it. The beach was long and nice, plenty of chairs and they had a few floating platforms with lounge chairs in the sea to sit on, very nice. The room was simple, 2 beds, tv, table, with a bathroom. The shower had great water pressure! The food was fine. There is not any beer or soda in the room, only water. The Alcohol drinks are well brands no top shelf booze, with the exception of rum...excellent Jamaican rum. The Housekeeping was very good and kept our room clean and well stocked with towels. The A/C was excellent! We stayed for 8 days and enjoyed our time. This is a great resort for guests with family's.
This was my 7th stay at the Hilton Rose Hall in Montego Bay in the past 4 years and once again the provide the service that I was expecting. They have the friendliest staff I have ever met at an all inclusive from Samantha at the bar, Elwayn who greeted us with a smile every morning at breakfast, Aston who served us drinks on the beach and as always Berton who took us out on the catamaran. The food was always good with a great variety. The expansion they did to the beach area is beautiful along with the additional bar and restaurant by the beach. You get greeted with smiles and hellos from the time you get there until the time you leave. The property is beautiful and kept clean with many activities to do throughout the day. We are planning our trip back for next October already. I love the Hilton Rose Hall
