Spend 6 nights from July 6th to July 12th. Arrived early and had to wait awhile for the room. The receptionist was very nice. Looked for us at the pool when room was ready. We took a room on the 3rd floor because they told us it was an upgrade. Room was very nice. Never lacked for anything(toiletries, etc.). The restaurants are all pretty close to each other. We ate at buffet every night, always a theme night or a good variety of food. We did eat at the surf and turf one night. The beef tenderloin was very good. The people at the resort were very nice and very attentive. The Star Team(entertainment) were very good at keeping the guests active and entertained. The shows at night were just ok. I spent about 99% of the time at the beach. I love sea water. Very clean, clear and warm. The pool area was also nice except for the area where the bar was located. Way too noisy and crowded. Overall nice vacation except for extremely noisy pool area.
Let me start off by saying my husband and I loved this resort so much, that we came back a 2nd time and brought all of our immediate family with us! That is how much we loved this resort. I always say its the people that keeps me coming back. Everything about the trip was what everyone else review has mentioned already. There was a really bad smell in our room and it wasn't quite clean in the bathroom but they handled that almost immediately and moved us to another room! My biggest gripe is that some of the staff are truly friendly and truly want to help and others can't hide that they don't want to be there or their frustrations with guest. My husband and I went to spa courtesy of the resort for going on the presentation. We went and we enjoyed the ladies. We laughed and then everything went silent because it felt so good. I ended up taking off my Adidas Fit Watch and placing it into the bathrobe and forgot it was there. I didn't remember until about a few hours after. I called over and over again and no one could seem to locate the watch and I felt that was SHADY! They gave me the run around - saying it was down in laundry and they had no way of knowing. And even one young lady told me it wasn't there without even looking in the "lost and found" So I felt it was SHADY all around. I fill out a lost and found form but i don't truly believe it will be returned. Thats my biggest and only GRIPE about going to this resort. Its not the first time I've lost something and NO ONE seems to know where it went. I don't trust that no one knows. I believe that maybe they kept it for themselves. I don't know. Anyway, thats it. Hopefully someone finds it and it MAGICALLY appears in the mail.
Top rate and friendly service from our arrival to our departure . The staff is exceptional and the rooms are spacious and clean. Check-in went smoothly with Junior, and our porter David was great. I have to thank our butlers Reynaldo, Ojay and Shane for making us feel at home and taking care of our wants and needs. They were amazing and made our stay exceptional. I also have to thank Donavan who was not our butler but attended to our needs as well, he's fantastic and should be Head butler if you have such a thing. I also need to thank Hashtag, my Jamaican son,Hakeem in the pool area, Chef Corrine and Kareena from the omelette station for looking out for us. We traveled as a group of ten and we had a great time and would recommend this hotel for sure.
Just returned from this resort 2 days ago. I cannot stress enough that this is a top tier resort acceptable to the most discriminating customers. We were welcomed by the bell service who stored our luggage at the front door while our attentive front desk staff welcomed us, we received our welcome drink and a cool towel. We were asked to have a seat and talk to our concierge while our personal butler ensured that the room was prepared. This gave me a chance to sit with the concierge and make dinner reservations for the week while my husband played pool. The butler took us to our rooms with the bell hop in tow and quickly deposited our luggage and checked that the mini bar was to our satisfaction. This all occurred in the first 30 minutes. We had already met 5 staff members and were made to feel welcome. This treatment continued for the entire week with stellar dining options for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Choices include include local cuisine and dining options that suit the American palette. I am very glad for the opportunity to taste local dishes of very good quality. Apparently some resorts serve a more Euro-centric menu(I learned this after listening to others on my departing flight). The beverages are all top shelf, a wide variety of brands are available and even some of the most obscure drinks were easily obtained. Each day there were entertainment/activities offered by the high energy crew who dance, sing, and organize sports and games. They were pretty awesome and helped to add an exciting element to the stay. Even if you didn't want to join in it was fun just to sit on the roomy balcony and watch. The accommodations were clean, spacious and comfortable. We had the pool view suite. The tiled bath had two separate sinks, spacious shower, jetted tub and glassed in water closet. The bed was actually comfy and never woke with that "hotel bed back strain". The Surf and Turf & Japanese Restaurant were exceptional. We are Surf & Turf twice. I believe that the Italian restaurant is underrated. The ambiance there is nice and it is the only restaurant located on the lobby level. It has a lovely view. Most important in a review of this resort are the people! The combination of Jamaican warmth & high quality yielded an exceptional stay. Here is my shout out to the people who made my stay so awesome. Apologies to those whose name I was not able to remember. (Sasha-Gay) at the Front Desk was an exceptional resource, efficient and always had a smile. (Keen) our day-time butler was tremendously attentive and took great care to make sure that everything was to our liking. He ensured that we got the services from all staff members that we needed. (Eva) was our table captain/server who always had a table ready no matter where we showed up, knew our orders before we placed them and gave great service. (Alecia) served us every morning with a smile at the breakfast buffet on the ground floor. She also anticipated our order after the first day, made sure that we knew which of the native foods paired well together and helped us to get a beautiful start to every day. (Server in the Italian restaurant) on the final night was excellent. He gave us several upgrades to our dinner and made sure that the food were prepared to our liking. (Kadir/Thunda) was the leader of the Activity/Entertainment group. He gave James Brown a run for his money. This guy was giving us the best that he had every day and added the Jamaican magic to the occassion. Thanks to everyone at the Iberostar Grand for an excellent vacation.
I planned a trip for my boyfriend's birthday to the Iberostar Grand Rose Hall. I had previously stayed at the Suites and Beach buildings and they were both beautiful, so I knew the Grand must be even better. It was!We were upgraded to an ocean view which was truly picturesque. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. Knowing we were there to celebrate a birthday, the room was decorated with balloons one day, given a bottle of champagne another day, and a beautiful bubble bath was run while we were out of the room, still piping hot when we returned! Our favorite butler was Shane, although all were friendly and helpful. We didn't go on any excursions, but did walk to the end of the beach to do some shopping at the beach shacks run by local vendors. While some people may feel uncomfortable with how persistent the shopkeepers are, we were happy to bargain shop and chat with the people (Cherry, Sharmaine). You could find a lot of the same items for sale in the hotel gift shops but you'll get a much better deal at the end of the beach.Food was good overall-we enjoyed the Surf and Turf and the Italian restaurants. I was able to make reservations via email prior to arriving. Jo Dane was so quick in responding to my requests!Camille (seafood grill station) in the dinner buffet became my favorite girl! I don't even eat seafood lol, but she was so friendly and accommodating... she even went into the kitchen to get me a special dessert when I was looking for the delicious corn cupcake that I had the previous evening! And that basically sums up the service at this resort... and the people overall. So friendly and happy... Side note: One thing I noticed in other reviews is people's comments about marijuana. While we were there, we only witnessed one person smoking. That being said, it is not criminalized to smoke weed there, as regulations have become relaxed. And as an American, I am bothered by the fact that other Americans who venture to other countries expect to be accommodated with US-imposed opinions/regulations. If that's the case, stay in the US. (I do not smoke, but it just frustrates me beyond...right along with those going to a foreign country and getting angry when expecting locals to speak English in THEIR country). Anyway-this place is fabulous! Highly recommended!
