Riu Palace Jamaica
- What's Included
- All Inclusive Features
With its great location, less than 10 minutes from the airport, you can start your vacation right away. Along with its modern decor, Riu Palace Jamaica has a friendly and attentive staff and delicious dining options as is expected with the Riu chain. There is a selection of activities and entertainment offered at the resort but for the most part, this adults only resort is considered a more of a quiet retreat. And with a private, white-sand beach there are no beach vendors or timeshare sales people. If you are looking for more action, take advantage of the full exchange privileges at the Riu Montego Bay right next door.
Well the stay here started off pretty nice until day 3. AC was never cold in the #6 villa but it was doable since we had the ceiling fan on. Day 3 we decided to say something about the AC to see if maybe we can get it adjusted a bit. We went out to dinner (oh and I'll explain the dinner situation as well) and we came back to the room and the AC was warmer then before. I called the front desk and asked why our room is even warmer and now we have the added bonus of a sewer smell. He says "oh we have been having a problem with the AC". At that point we asked for a room change, so here we are changing rooms at midnight. Staying here we got friendly with some of the staff and they even said after all of this Villa #6 is a nightmare and people want out of that building all the time because of the sewer smell. Now this is the slow time so now things are starting to make sense why there is nobody staying on the first level.... So now the food situation, in the past Riu hotels had a reservation seating policy. Not now it's a first come first serve basis. So if your used to eating the early bird special you will have no problem leaving the beach early and standing in line at 6 o'clock. However if you like to enjoy the day and like to eat at 6:30-7:00 o'clock or later you will be turned away because with the new policy and you will be eating in the buffet. There are 4 sit down restaurants on site but only 2 are open per night. The only reason I gave this a 2 star is because the beach here is beautiful and the staff is nice but the accommodation are horrible if your used to 4 or 5 star rating as advertised.
Ok I won't go in to all the little details you have heard them all before , hotel superb , food superb , staff superb , the only complaint we had (which is totally selfish) smoking , come on it's an adult hotel and you get 2 smoking areas , we did smoke on the balcony , we did not leave a mess and we never had any problems , but it was like been back at school smoking behind the bike shelter I am 51 year old for god sake , Jamaica ok everyone wants your money , the moment you leave the comfort zone of the hotel hold on to your hat , keep your hands in your pockets never let anyone put anything in your hand ! If you do you have bought it simple as that , also take plenty of fags with you from duty free they are the same price as the uk , if you get them from the hotel they are $12 a pack
My wife and I visited Jamaica for the first time from 09/14 - 09/23/16. We stayed at the RIU Palace Jamaica to celebrate our 10 year Wedding Anniversary and could not have made a better choice. Upon arrival we were greeted with Champagne and a warm welcome. We arrived at our resort prior to check-in but we were fortunate enough that our room was ready. As we entered the room we had a nice swan towel and rose petals on our bed. We had a oceanfront view which we highly recommend. The food was very delicious, especially the cheese fries. The specialty restaurants were awesome but our favorite was the Italian and we went back twice! Breakfast was by far our favorite meal. The eggs and bacon were the bomb. Thank you to Osbourne for taking care of us. The staff took a real interest in making sure our every need was met. The Lime Bar was our favorite as it was quieter than the other swim up bars. Shout out to our wonderful bartender, Oral, for making some of the best drinks we ever had. He always obliged us with a variety of his own specialty drinks that were amazing. Also, we would like to give a shout out to Fabian (who did a wonderful job of delivering drinks on his head), Denroy, Paul, Rachelle, and Andrei. The Entertainment crew especially Lisa and Candy did an excellent job of engaging with guests. Karaoke Night was our favorite! Overall, great experience. We can't wait to make a return trip.
The Riu Palace is one of the nicest place we've ever stayed. The entire property was clean, clean, clean! The first thing I always do when I stay anywhere is pull back the sheets and check the mattress. It was immaculate. I came home to Canada with bites on my lower legs. They were NOT from bed bugs. They were from the little sand flies on the beach. They're tiny and they're sneaky. I watched one climb on my toe and bite me. My husband had no bites at all. The food was excellent. The staff was so lovely. There were always beach chairs by the pool and beach. No need to reserve a spot. The weather was amazing! The purpose of our trip was to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. The staff made sure we celebrated all day. Chamar from the Crystal restaurant arranged a lovely dinner complete with a live serenade from a lady with the voice of an angel. We had an excellent day and an excellent week. We've decided to return next year and hopefully bring our adult sons who will also love the adjoining resort which we loved but found a little loud and crowded. I would like to mention to management a few staff members who made our stay extra special:Denroy (Double D)Fabian (Bartender)Chemar (Crystal restaurant)Todd (evening buffet waiter)Jermaine (pastry chef)Ryan (Breakfast and lunch waiter)Nakisha (Zen restaurant-Sweetest girl)
Id like to start by saying a massive thank you to all the staff who made our holiday extra special they all work so hard to make your holiday something else, you literally dont have to move from your sunbed and the staff on the beach paul in particular will be more than happy to serve you as will the evening staff zodian and her cocktails in particular DOUBLE D as he likes to be known denroy thorpe is name was brilliant in the lobby bar serving up some great drinks all served with a smile and fun which made our start to the holidays until they moved him to the pool bar which was a waste of talent.moving on to the hotel which is spotlessly clean someone always cleaning or polishing as were the rooms with constant supply of towels and bedding. The hotel food was also exeptional and never had a bad meal even though we didnt use all the restaurants the buffet is amazing with lobster and steak being served regularly.Drinks in the palace are premium spirits which is also a plus.Ive read people whinge about the beach and sand come on really, its very good maybe the seas not as clear as other places but still its the caribean. Also complaints about planes flying over from the airport which is only 7 minutes away but when they moan about it ask your selves how you got to jamaica, was it by plane by any chance. As a guest of the palace you can use the hotel next door which is a bit dated and not my cup of tea not if you want to relax and chill ,evenings next door are more along the lines of holiday camp entertainment but alot quieter at the palace. The palace is a little more expensive but you get what you pay for and in my opinion you get what you pay for and will definately be visiting again the only thing i would suggest is bring back your man DOUBLE D (old cock as hes known in yorkshire ha) as he was the talk of the lobby with his fun and entertainment and i do think the hotel is missing a trick by not having him there. All in all the hotel is amazing and would recommend to anyone so thanks to everyone who were all so polite and made our holiday .YEA MON RESPECT
