Riu Palace Jamaica
- What's Included
- All Inclusive Features
With its great location, less than 10 minutes from the airport, you can start your vacation right away. Along with its modern decor, Riu Palace Jamaica has a friendly and attentive staff and delicious dining options as is expected with the Riu chain. There is a selection of activities and entertainment offered at the resort but for the most part, this adults only resort is considered a more of a quiet retreat. And with a private, white-sand beach there are no beach vendors or timeshare sales people. If you are looking for more action, take advantage of the full exchange privileges at the Riu Montego Bay right next door.
We stepped into the Riu Palace and were in awe at its beauty. The front desk staff had friendly smiles on their faces and welcomed us in. Our rooms were stunning. The big jetted tub next to the King size bed was my favorite part! There was a generous tiled shower as well as double sinks. Leaving our rooms was even better. We ate at the buffet which was overflowing with everything we could want. It had something for everyone. *Shout out to Carl who makes omelets in the morning. He sings and dances while making you the most delicious omelet you’ve ever had. The 3 infinity pools overlooked the gorgeous beach with built in hammocks and seating for enjoying the ocean breeze. There were several bars with staff that were always making sure we had everything we needed. There are also friendly faces walking/dancing/skipping around the resort whose sole job is to make you smile and make sure your vacation is everything it should be. *Shout out to Barbie and Dr. Fun Fun for making us laugh every day. Everything about this resort makes you feel like you are in Paradise and that is what Vacation is all about. We will not only be back to this Riu location, but we are excited to explore other Riu locations to see what other parts of the world have to offer.
Pros - very short ride from airport, but a long wait to leave .( not hotels fault ) Rooms and common areas all very clean and staff are cleaning constantly. Most staff seem friendly and happy ( some of security not so much ) most of the time .Food of good quality and maintained at right temperatures at buffet . Always food of some kind available at aqua bar all the time .Drink service very available in all areas. paddle boats /boards etc available next door resorts but you are limited in space you are allowed to use them due to currents to the lefts and Sandals resort to the right. ConsConstant airplane noises overhead ( as result of close runway location pro above ).Grounds are well kept but lack space . Given's its urban location there is little area of greenspace to safely explore .Food is fairly bland even with a large variety at buffet. Ate at steakhouse ,Zen and Krystal and nothing overly impressive or memorable at any of these. The buffet is just as good as most say . Crazy reservation /non reservation line up system for al la cartes which are tiny ( some seat 12 ) . Not what one expects at 5 star resort. The al a cartes are much bigger at the cheaper sister resorts however palace customers cant use them . Beach fairly congested and little space to wander either side of Riu as cut off in both directions. Lacks any formal entertainment ( all shows are at other 2 Riu resorts who both have stages ) and no real notice as to what shows are going on there so we missed all/any. Should have a notice schedule board saying whats happening when at all 3 if palace people pay extra to use all 3 resorts . For the ratings and the price expected more but would rate the experience just above average overall ( 3.5 stars vs 4.) May try Jamaica again but will be to a more rural setting for sure .
This hotel has good value for what you pay for. Rooms are ok. The food is above average especially for the Caribbean. They had Lobster tails on Saturday night buffet! Beach lounge chairs are very nice. Service from the staff was great. Robert at the front desk went above and beyond to help me.
Lovely hotel, great service (without having to flash the cash!) Make sure you get a room with at least a courtyard view, its worth the cost of the upgrade or else your view will be off the Riu Montego Bay Hotel's restaurant (next door) and the main road.Staff take a huge pride in the property and are always cleaning even in the rain.Food was great, ate in the a la carte steakhouse 1 night, but felt that the buffet was just as good if not better.Cocktails varied as to where you ordered them. Not so good at swim up pool, but were great at Aqua bar and lobby bar.Only 1 negative, and not really hotel to blame, is it's proximity to the airport. It is literally under the take off flight path and planes seem to use the hotel as a guide as to where to change course - right overhead!! Saying that, as transfer time is only 10 - 15 mins from the airport was pretty obvious would get some aircraft noise from either take off or landing.BUT don't be put off this lovely hotel.
We came here with our adult children. 22 yrs and 19 yrs. We got 2 rooms, a little pricey but there was no way the 4 of us could get 1 room. This was the first time we stayed at a Riu, it was suggested to me by a co-worker. We stayed at a Riu palace which was adults only, the family one was next door, which was a short walk. That was were the water activities were but we found enough to do on our side. The food was great, we ate at the Italian restaurant one night but we all liked the buffet so much that we ended up canceling the other reservations that we made. There were 3 pools, 2 with swim up bars. It was right on the ocean. Had a gym and a 24 hour bar with snacks. Activities during the day and music at night. The best part was the service. I cannot say enough about how amazing all the employees were. They were genuinely nice people who really seemed to enjoy their jobs.Because of this we have recommended the Riu to others and have just booked another vacation for just my husband and I at the Riu in the Bahamas.
