Our Opinion

With its great location, less than 10 minutes from the airport, you can start your vacation right away. Along with its modern decor, Riu Palace Jamaica has a friendly and attentive staff and delicious dining options as is expected with the Riu chain. There is a selection of activities and entertainment offered at the resort but for the most part, this adults only resort is considered a more of a quiet retreat. And with a private, white-sand beach there are no beach vendors or timeshare sales people. If you are looking for more action, take advantage of the full exchange privileges at the Riu Montego Bay right next door.

Located just 20 minutes from Montego Bay, this new adults only property offers guests top-quality service, comfort and a wide range of lavish amenities all under one roof. Nestled in the tranquil Mahoe Bay, this all inclusive resort is a tropical sanctuary ideal for spending intimate moments under the sun. Hit the green for some rounds of golf at the many world-class courses nearby, traverse the beach on horseback, sail, surf or simply relax by the shimmering pool. Couples, singles and groups won't be able to resist a Jamaica vacation at Riu Palace Jamaica, which offers a selection of rooms and suites featuring balconies or terraces, and caters to guests' unique travel needs. Riu Palace Jamaica serves up international cuisines bursting with flavour at the buffet and many a la carte restaurants featuring everything from Japanese favourites to Italian delights, beachside snacks to delicious grilled varieties. If you are looking for an ultra relaxing retreat for you and your sweetheart, or a sensational spa getaway with the girls, the wellness centre features a luxurious spa with soothing treatments and therapies. Jamaica? No problem!

My husband and I just got back yesterday from the Riu- we were there from 1/8-1/15/18. Impressive would be an understatement- top notch customer service, beautifully maintained resort and grounds, delicious food, amazing drinks! From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel welcome and special. Right at check-in, Portia at the desk was pleasant and informative- the whole process. was fast and thorough. My husband and I spent the week enjoying the beautiful, modern (LOVE the lobby!) resort- plus, the whole atmosphere is so pleasant and relaxing! Everyone at the resort that we met was kind and VERY hard-working! It's obvious the workers take a great deal of pride in what they do.The on-site security people were unobtrusive and made us feel comfortable. Customer service at the Riu Palace is top-notch- I do have to single out a few people, though: Audley- waiter at the Montego Bay Buffet restaurant- Wonderful, upbeat personality- he was very attentive every day - to ALL the guests. Plus, the man has a phenomenal memory- every day, he took us to "our" table, remembered drinks, etc.- that kind of service REALLY matters! Horace- evening waiter at the Montego Bay Buffet- one of the most genuinely kind and attentive customer service people I have EVER met- he takes a LOT of pride in his work- and on our last night there, he made SURE that "our" table was specially decorated- the man had the day OFF, and he made sure that one of his co-workers, Dianne(another very pleasant waitress at the Buffet)- looked out for us. Jim and I were so genuinely touched by that gesture- it just made leaving this wonderful resort THAT much harder! Absolutely no doubt whatsoever- we will be back, and soon! A wonderful, relaxing , and beautiful place. What will be remembered were a lot of small, but meaningful gestures- even on the last day, as a lot of us were waiting for our transports to the airport- "Dr. Fun-fun" was talking to everyone in the lobby- saying goodbye, making sure our stay had been enjoyable. Rest assured, it was- because of all the wonderful people we encountered!

Day Pass fun but probably would not stay long term.

We arrived in Jamaica by cruise ship and I booked a day at the Riu for nine adults traveling together with people in their 50s and 70s. The grounds are kept very nice but the pool and outside dining furniture is showing some wear. We wanted to sit on the beach but there were not a lot of chairs and they were all taken so we sat by the pool. The food was average but the drinks were good and the atmosphere was fun. We all enjoyed our stay for the day but having stayed at several all-inclusives, would not stay at this particular hotel for more than a day.

This was our 3rd trip to this resort and this time we brought friends. It seemed even better than the 1st two times and that is saying a lot! We were surprised that the resort was full as it was the first full week after Christmas. Quite a mix of ages and countries which made it very enjoyable. We did not have the best of weather but that is not RIU's fault and we made the best of it. It helped that we had our friends with us and we made our own fun by playing cards and such. The sun finally came out on Thursday and were able to enjoy the pools. The foam party was an interesting addition to their itinerary. We did not participate as we are considered "old folks" in our 60's but it was fun to watch. We ate in the specialty restaurants every night but one. We enjoyed all of them. It is highly recommended that you get in line no later than 6:15 to ensure seating. Of course if you miss getting a seat you can always try the other restaurants or go to the buffet which is always good. If you are a soup lover be sure to try their soups which are served at both lunch and dinner. Especially the Pepper Pot soup which seems to always be served on Saturday. Our favorite staff members (Richard, Philmore aka Dr. Phil and Kash) greeted us with a welcome home. It never fails to amaze me that they remember us what with all the guests they serve during the year. Can't wait to return!

wow that is all I can say one of the nicest hotel I have been too

I went there for one week my first time, my original plan was Cuba but the Irma showed up and had taken insurance coverage because my nephew is very sick. so I change it to Jamaica and choose the Riu Palace because its adults only. WOW I was so happy with it. the place the decor the folks the food all is great. I meet some a wonderful family from UK a young girl who I meet the first nite and we hit it off tho I am much older than her. the next day meet he two aunts, her cousin his wife and her family they were just wonderful. the hotel is so clean I mean all the time, they are sweeping, cleaning, dusting every thing shine, some the staff I remember their names: Kristopher, Maureen was the lady making sure there was no sand on the floor at the 24 hour bar, Alberto, Oscar, Dr Funfun and Kash where the entertainers and that they were, Dr PhilMore was a waiter, on my last day Julian was baggage guy super nice, and Alfredo who was moping the lobby. I am planning on going back to may but the price has to go down, as I am travelling alone of course I pay a supplement

Stayed here over Halloween. Great spot, quick travel from the airport so you can save travel time. Planes fly overhead often but not a bother. Food was very good, access to both sister properties was a plus. Stay here if you’re a bit older or are looking for a quieter environment. No kids! Stay next door if you’re looking for a louder more party environment. Great pools, lovely beach, great people. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
