Our OpinionWhite beaches with private boardwalks and crystal blue water line this beautiful oceanfront property. Guests at the Royal Decameron Montego Bay can enjoy time in the resort's two swimming pools, both with views of the sea and one with a swim-up bar. At night, try various international and local dishes in Passa Passa and Souk Restaurants before taking in the nightly show and dancing at our private disco. Great value at this Montego Bay resort.

Upon arrival to our hotel my family and I waited almost ONE whole hour before we were acknowledged by the front desk staff who was “busy” with another customer. While that is understandable, the slightest bit of acknowledgement (a smile, a “I’ll be right with you”) would’ve been reassuring. While we waited we were seranddd by the sounds of random beating and construction (that continued all day throughout the remainder of our 4 day stay). But never mind that, this hotel is old as heck. Check in took another 30 min bc they do everything by the book and they still use actual keys! Smh, we went to our room and it was disgustingly musty and unnecessarily moist. It was humid and I uncomfortable to be in. Not to mention our sink was clogged on the first night smh. Anyways the food is awful. The best food they have is at the snack bar where someone takes your order and they serve you, too bad the service there is trash. The chef was “late” on multiple occasions and the servers there also take 30+ mins before they acknowledge you. Now, the good part. The outside of this hotel is B E A U T I F U L and the activities staff is VERY engaging. The beach is to DIE for. The water activities they have are great as well (snorkeling, sailing, boating, kayaking, etc). The pool could be better and the drinks at the bar weren’t all that but the outside of his hotel definitely made up for the crap inside. with better staff and a complete interior upgraded, they could be much better. Also, you have to pay for WiFi (that supposedly works best in the lobby instead it doesn’t work in the lobby at all). $20 for 24 hours.
Well if you are looking at a smaller local resort in the heart of Montego Bay then the Royal Decameron is the place to go. It has lovely rooms overlooking the ocean and the staff were very nice and accommodating. The Beaches were okay and the pool was fun to hang around during the day:)You literally walk out of the gate and you are on Hip Strip...minutes from Margaritaville and some fun shops. During the day we found it safe to explore outside the gates and love the opportunity to leave the resort when we feel like we would like a nice walk and shop! The drinks and food were very good and as for relaxing this is a place that will give you much of that:)Plus the one thing we love is that we only have about a 10 minute drive from the airport!...Remember to do the Mobay Club if you coming to Jamaica, the best way to skip the lines and enjoy the club pass while waiting for your shuttle to depart...See you all in December!
This is an all inclusive resort which was very basic but we were not expecting to be blown away based on what we paid. The facilities are old but functional. We paid for an oceanview room but they stuck us in the corner with only a partial view of the ocean. The food was decent and the staff was generally friendly and helpful. We were able to use the water sports equipment in the sister hotel next door. You also have to pay to use the safe box in the room (which is locked by a physical key, not a pass code) as well as the internet. Great place to view the sunset.
The dining room, bartenders, customer service staff are great and polite, But not much variety of food not much jamaican food. The whole resort inside needs to be repainted, some repairs done to room.
Our room request was not met upon checkin. Called hotel in advance and they booked us a cab and made us pay a taxi, when our package included a shuttle.Food mediocre, temp always cold. Toilet never flushed properly despite switching rooms, water pressure horrible. Staff is unpleasant and talks about guests in patois thinking we don’t understand what they are saying about us. Management is incompetent, room is old and outdated. Anyone who gives this place a good review must have nothing to compare it to. This resort is disgraceful and should be shut down. Management doesn’t listen to complaints, they have the nerve to respond to poor reviews by asking guests to return. Cans back severely sick from this place. Don’t waste your money here.
