Our OpinionWhite beaches with private boardwalks and crystal blue water line this beautiful oceanfront property. Guests at the Royal Decameron Montego Bay can enjoy time in the resort's two swimming pools, both with views of the sea and one with a swim-up bar. At night, try various international and local dishes in Passa Passa and Souk Restaurants before taking in the nightly show and dancing at our private disco. Great value at this Montego Bay resort.
Royal Decameron Montego Beach provides a cool and comfortable setting for a relaxing Caribbean vacation in a great location on Montego Bay. Casual and friendly, the resort offers a superb standard of accommodation at amazing value. Head to the beach to experience a variety of exciting water sports or stroll along its beautiful boardwalk overlooking the ocean. Take advantage of nearby shops, markets and nightlife on Montego Bay's famous hip strip or stay put and enjoy the resort's own brand of evening entertainment, including live shows and themed dinners.
Location: Directly on the beach in the heart of Montego Bay, within walking distance of the famous 'Hip Strip', only 5 minutes from the airport.
Easy check in and check out. The staff at front desk are just amazing and so incline to give you their best. They make you fell welcome.Thumbs up to them.My last trip in November i complained about the food, this time was way better. Just hoping the hotel reviews the A La Carte menu. I just went one night instead of every night. My room was perfect, like always and my maid is doing a great job taking care of my needs. The staff.......is incredible. Always smiling, singing and giving you their best to make you happy.Bring lots of 1.00$ bills for tiping, they deserve it!The site.... clean and beautifull. The ocean is warm, the beach small but great. I enjoyed it all week.Nice place to read and unwine.Friendly family resort, even travelling solo you will enjoy your stay. People from around the world talking between them, exchanging and having fun, you will make friends for life. The night shows: Royal Decameron have the best dancing troup on the island. Let them show you their great talent. They are amazing!Bring your ashtrays, their is always a shortage. We, returnees, want to keep our Jamaican jewel very clean. And please do not get rid of your garbage in the ocean it is just being respectfull!Preparing my next stay, soon come! YaMon!
If you're looking for a comfortable, laid back, nothing fancy resort, then this is for you. Cons: Bathroom; motel quality toiletries, no tissues, no hand rails or anything to hold on to in the shower. Beach: sea urchins all over the place, not a sign in sight to warn guests not to step on the bottom (invest in or bring along a good pair of water shoes!). "Lagoon" area is best for snorkeling but can only be accessed by two metal ladders. Rungs are covered in algae and are very, very slippery. Simple wipe down every once in a while would go a long way to providing guests with safety. Food: very average to poor and probably the main reason we would not return. Transfers: paid for transfers through FunJet Vacations. We waited almost an hour at the airport after arrival before the bus finally arrived to take us to the resort! They scheduled our return trip for three hours before our flight was scheduled to leave and Eva made us sign a hand written "waiver" that we would not hold them responsible if we missed our flight when I insisted we take the 1:30pm bus rather than the 12:30pm bus for our 3:35pm flight. Tacky. We arrived at the airport at 1:35 and had enough time to do an hour of shopping! Take a cab for $15 and set your own schedule. Check in: when they say it's 3pm, they mean it and not one minute sooner! We arrived at 1pm, had lunch and checked back at 2pm and were told the room would not be available until 3. There was no discussion, unfortunately, our room was not ready until 3:30pm! Kind of left us with a negative first impression. Entertainment: we didn't see any of the evening shows so we can't comment. The afternoon DJ/MC by the pool was absolutely awful....loud and obnoxious, he couldn't motivate the guests to do anything and then resorted to yelling at them, even calling one girl "sweetie" on the mike. Drinks: No top shelf being served and if you did ask for better or more alcohol, there was hesitation by the bartenders, ie, "tip me first". Local ganja dealer: always lurking in the water, harmless I'm sure, but just added to the tackiness of the resort. On the plus side, he was the only one who warned swimmers to be aware of the sea urchins!Pros: Rooms are simple but clean and comfortable with balconies with views that are stunning! Sunsets not to be missed! Staff is friendly enough but we noticed that many of them do not smile or seem to be enjoying their work as much as we've seen at other Jamaican resorts. Speaking to some, they seem to always be fearful of losing their job. Some additional information: you need to rent a safe for $2 a day, not a fortune but most resorts offer this as a standard to their guests. You also pay for internet, we got 24 cumulative hours for $20, not a bad deal. Resort is only a five minute drive from the airport, very convenient as long as you don't have to wait for an hour for the bus to get you there! Also, very cool watching the jets flying into the airport, if you like that sort of thing! All in all, it's hard not to have a good time in Jamaica. However, of all the resorts we've been to in Jamaica (this is our 10th trip), this resort certainly did not meet our expectations.
Where do I start.....?Checkin..... 9/10Room.... 1/10. Stayed in room 44 which was at the end of the property. A small public beach was next to it n also the main road. From people talk, music playing and car alarms all day and night. No sound proof windows/door. It was truly a restless 2days. I had to cut my vacation short by a day.Wifi... 0/10 Bought a voucher for $20/ 24hours unlimited megabytes. In total I didn't get 30mins usage before the wifi kept going in and out. DONT WASTE UR MONEY!Food.... 3/10Veeeeery limited choices! Very limited!!Drinks... 1/10Cheap quality liquor. Ran out of Appleton Special one evening. No Bailey's/ Sangster's Rum Cream.Staff... 10/10They really work hard.Overall look for another option.
Two years ago, I wrote a review praising this hotel for having two chairs on the beach for every guest. Recently, this hotel opened a sister hotel next door and they share the same beach. Now there is a severe shortage of chairs on the beach and many of the chairs are broken. I will not go back.We all dream about escaping our cold climates and sitting IN A CHAISE LOUNGE on a sandy beach. By not providing chairs, this hotel is telling guests to 'go away, we don't care about you'.At its worse, at one breakfast, there was no bread out for toast, no butter, no bacon, no jam no glasses for juice and no bacon. Most other days there was very limited bacon.Again, this carelessness says 'go away'.Lastly, the outside bar by the stage had 8 chairs available for hundreds of guests.
I had purchased 6 nights at the Royal Decameron Montego Beach, but when I arrived the desk didn't have my reservation. I quickly handed them a printed copy of my reservation from my online booking. The desk employee was really apologetic and suggested I have a complimentary drink at the bar while he fixed the problem. The bartender fixed me up with a fruity drink and he assured me that everything was going to "be okay, mahn". Ten minutes later the desk clerk walked over and told me they were upgrading me to the new Royal Decameron Cornwall Beach next door. Awesome! I got moved into the newer Cornwall Beach resort and was also allowed to utilize the Montego Beach resort facilities. I have to tell you, this was awesome. This was hands down the best vacation I have ever had. Montego Beach is smaller than Cornwall Beach, but seems to be more active. Also, the disco is on the Montego Beach side. You can enjoy snorkeling, glass bottom boat, paddle boards, etc, or just hang out by the water and pool and relax. It only took a day of meeting the staff at Cornwall Beach for everyone to greet me by name. I have to give a special thanks to Khat (was working in the towel booth) for keeping me company at lunch on my first day there. Khat and the rest of the staff would always ask how I was doing whenever they saw me. It was really nice, considering I was a little concerned about traveling alone. The breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets were great! I ate the freshest fruit I have ever tasted. The orange juice was incredible - I drank a lot of it. I tried a lot of food that I hadn't had before, just because I was on vacation. I can say that it was all good. The bartenders will mix you anything you want, but they each have their own specialties, so try those first. Don't miss out on either of these two beach resorts. They are a quick taxi ride from the airport, conveniently located around other shops, and gated. Everything was included so if you're on a budget, just bring some money for tips, taxies, and off-site meals. The staff doesn't bother you about tipping, but I really appreciated how friendly they all were to me, so I enjoyed tipping them.My review is about Cornwall Beach, because that is where I ended up staying, even though I booked Montego Beach. I did use the services of the Montego Beach resort but it has a much smaller beach and has a small pool compared to Cornwall Beach which opened in December 2016. Which one you choose will depend on your budget.
