Royal Decameron Montego Beach
- What's Included
- All Inclusive Features
Our OpinionWhite beaches with private boardwalks and crystal blue water line this beautiful oceanfront property. Guests at the Royal Decameron Montego Bay can enjoy time in the resort's two swimming pools, both with views of the sea and one with a swim-up bar. At night, try various international and local dishes in Passa Passa and Souk Restaurants before taking in the nightly show and dancing at our private disco. Great value at this Montego Bay resort.
Royal Decameron Montego Beach provides a cool and comfortable setting for a relaxing Caribbean vacation in a great location on Montego Bay. Casual and friendly, the resort offers a superb standard of accommodation at amazing value. Head to the beach to experience a variety of exciting water sports or stroll along its beautiful boardwalk overlooking the ocean. Take advantage of nearby shops, markets and nightlife on Montego Bay's famous hip strip or stay put and enjoy the resort's own brand of evening entertainment, including live shows and themed dinners.
Location: Directly on the beach in the heart of Montego Bay, within walking distance of the famous 'Hip Strip', only 5 minutes from the airport.
Our room was at the very end of the property by the public beach and public parking. We had the Ocean front side. Our view was good, but the noise totally ruined the trip. The locals would swim as early as 6 am, and would yell and talk loud. At night the locals would pull their car up with the stereo blasting for the night until 3-4 am. We tried to switch rooms but were told we couldn't. The buffet was awful!! The staff for the most part was really good!! The beach and pool was average. You have to PAY for wifi, Pay to use business center, and pay for the safe in your room. Will not go back to this hotel again.
We are 2 adults in late 40s, visiting the resort with a group of friends, all inclusive package.Overall:This is not a 5 star luxurious hotel, however, we loved it! The location is fantastic, food delicious, grounds beautiful and clean, snorkeling right off the beach. Would (and hopefully will) return! The hotel is small, and it gives the opportunity to meet people. The staff is really nice and working hard to make the guests feel great and welcomed.Arrival: Trip Montreal-MoBay with Air Transat was uneventful, on time.Once in Jamaica, we were processed quite quickly at the airport, then it took us 5-7 min trip on the new bus to get to the hotel. In the hotel we were quickly given the room, in time to grab a supper.Room:Nice, spacious, basic, with fantastic view of the sea. Best view and proximity to the sea we experienced so far. Beds comfy, ac stopped working for a while, but front desk addressed our request to repair immediately. (we came back after supper to find ac working)Grounds:The hotel is small (aprox 140 rooms) and opens towards the sea. Very clean, you can see the cleaning crews working at all times.Beautiful palm trees around the resort. There are 2 swimming pools – cannot comment, never spent time there.Beach – definitely the strongest selling point for us. Water crystal clear, snorkeling right off the beach, we’ve seen so much beautiful marine life, lobsters, French angelfishes, barracudas, flounders, sting rays…..You can see the planes landing while on the beach, noise is not an issue though. (you can hardly hear it during the day, there is always music, waves, breeze…)There are 4 beaches available, 2 sand beaches – 1 being on the side of new Decameron Cornwall resort; 2 beaches accessible via piers, where the water is deeper (2-3 m).Buffets/Restaurants; There are 2 restaurants, main buffet - Passa and Souk, a la carte rest.We loved both. The food is fresh, lots of local choices, fish, chicken, beef, soups (always 2 choices) vegetables, and tasty desserts. For breakfast we had omelets, made by Mr. Marley (don’t remember first name) – best we had during our travels in Caribbean’sTrips:We only took 2 trips: snorkeling trip with Capt Mrs Polly – highly recommended, we paid 15/pp, and Capt took us to the beautiful reef not far from the hotel.2nd trip was to Glistening Lagoon, worth seeing, apparently one of 3 in the world. I took my gopro to film, but it did not work. The crew is taking picks tho.We did a short trip to Montego bay – on foot. Generally you feel safe, there is a police and security presence visible. People want to sell you all kinds of things, but simple “no, thank you” works. Weather:Beautiful. 30C and sunny.Entertainment:This is the only area where the hotel is missing a point in my review. Some shows very good, some so-so. Beach party is a great example of missed opportunity – started fantastically, good bands, dancing, singing, limbo dance to include guests…But at some point the guest were left to themselves, while entertainment team was concentrating just on each other. At this point I would like to mention 2 staff members that really stand out: Angelica – our buffet waitress, and Marshal, beach bar trainee.Super nice people, we loved talking to them, and learning about Jamaica. Return: Here is another big plus for the hotel’s proximity to the airport. Our flight was late 5h, so instead of waiting at the airport, we spent the time at the resort…:o)
This is the original they have just opened a new one right next door - if you are at this one you can't go to the new one they have guards . They share some common beach area . The rooms are old and in need of a refurb and it is a Club Med type all inclusive drinks meals and activities.
A good stay overall, there was always a wide variety of food. Amazing view from the rooms and the hotel is well kept. There is always someone cleaning. Below are some issues we had during our stay:1. After checking in and going up to our room, we noticed that the television was not working. We had to call maintenance to have the tv replaced. They then couldn't find the remote for the tv so we had to wait until the following day. This wasn't a big deal for me as i hardly stayed in the room. 2. After our second day, the toilet was leaking. One good thing was that maintenance came within 15 minutes of me calling the front desk and it was fixed within an hour. 3. The ladies at the towel rental area are not very pleasant (at least to locals). Bottom line: I would return despite the few hiccups. Recommendation for management: Have the rooms checked before they are assigned to guests.
The Royal Decameron was a great place to stay for bringing my family to the island for the first time. They wanted to stay in an all inclusive for their first trip to Jamaica. The rooms were very nice, clean, updated and comfortable. Upon arrival we did have an air conditioner leak, but with a quick call to front desk, maintenance arrived and repaired within 20 minutes. The view was AMAZING!!! The staff was welcoming and was very good about knowing and recognizing...and remembering guests and preferences of individual guests. The location was perfect...on Hip Strip and within safe walking distance from shops, restaurants and Doctors Cave. Wifi was available, for a cost. Unfortunately, even with purchase, it was not very reliable. And if you are claustrophobic at all, the only elevator is certified for 4 people, but that's 4 very small people. A week of taking the stairs to the 4th floor was a much better option. The hotel entertainment options were not as actively participated in by guests, but the staff was wonderful! The food was ok. While understanding the need to cater to international guests, the Asian Food night was........well, we left and ventured to an off sight restaurant. Even with some of the cons, I would still be willing to return to Royal Decameron, if I choose to be in an All Inclusive.
