Secrets Wild Orchid Montego Bay

Check-in was a breeze and our room was clean and ready for us. The mattress was one of the most comfortable that we have ever slept on. The food at all of the restaurants was very good. We enjoyed the French(not necessarily the service we received there) and the Hibachi(great service). Compared to other Secrets locations, I felt that this one was busier and had a ton of large groups. We enjoyed the nightly live music and the bar tenders did a great job. Shane and Theo in particular. Sometimes it was difficult to find an empty chair at the beach and we found the beach service lacking. The water is beautiful, though. Wild Orchid is closer to the restaurants and seemed to be a tiny bit quieter than St. James and so I was happy with the location of our room. Overall, we were very satisfied with our stay and would recommend this resort for the Montego Bay area.
My family and I had the pleasure of staying at Secrets this weekend for my cousin's wedding. A shuttle from the airport is about 20 minutes. I'd suggest using Amstar as them seem to be the cheapest ($12 one way vs. $37 with another company at the airport) The resort is pretty and well kept. Room service takes 45+ minutes. I actually fell asleep waiting for my dinner. The coordinator was a great party MC and even joined into the fun. But if you have specific wedding need I'd suggest you get to the resort early or be prepared to do it yourself. We weaved our own guest chairs. At the last minute we realized we forgot about the fans that were to be placed on the seats for the guest. There were 3 ladies just sitting but when asked we were given major attitude. I just did it myself to avoid conflict. Overall good place to stay. I would not recommend the resort for a fun girl's trip as it was a bit stuffy.
First off, let me start off by saying that my friend Jessica and I did not have a great start to this vacation but like all great stories it had a happy ending. We were 3 hours late at arriving to the resort between our first plane's mechanical issues, having to switch planes, and delays at the airport. Upon arriving at the airport, we were greeted by a staff member of Club Mobay who was holding a sign with our names on it. I highly recommend getting this service as it fast tracked our way through customs, helped getting our luggage, and escorting us to a private area that had drinks and snacks where we waited for our transfer to the hotel. Once we arrived at our hotel, we headed over to the Preferred Wild Orchid side and were excited to unpack and relax. We received a cool towel to refresh ourselves and the obligatory first drink. When we got our keys, Joseph (our bellhop) escorted us to the elevators and I immediately thought that there was something wrong. You see, we had booked our stay over a year ago and were supposed to stay in a swim out suite so why were we going up in an elevator. I told Joseph that there was a problem and had to go back to the front desk. I explained to Nicole that we had booked and paid for a swim out suite so why were we not checked into one. She explained that there something went wrong with the booking and there were no swim out suites available. This was unacceptable. Jessica and I were celebrating our 40th birthdays and 30 years of friendship and we wanted what we paid for. She called Shawn Moses over who is the Assistant Rooms Director and he apologized for the mix up but there was no swim up suite available until Wednesday the next week, 6 days into our vacation. I got on the phone with our travel agent, Florence Berthome-Avila, who started making calls to find out what happened. Unfortunately, we did not get into the swim out suite until they had one available but they made up for it in other ways. One of the ways they did was by providing us with the services of two amazing butlers, Tajae Moore and Garey Blair. I can't praise these two enough. They took care of everything for us. From making dinner reservations, to setting up times to be picked up for our excursions, setting up spa appointments, and fulfilling every request we asked for. On this trip, I became obsessed with Ackee and Saltfish so they made sure I had it for breakfast every morning even though the resort only served it on Sundays. We had fresh coconuts to drink and jerk chicken brought to us instead of having to walk around trying to find where the carts were since they moved all over the place. They drove us to the spa which was on the St. James side of the resort and reminded us when we had to head over there. They had beachside lounge chairs reserved for us and arranged a snorkeling trip. We were completely pampered but the best part was having them feel like we were part of the family. We got hugs everyday and I will admit that I cried when I had to leave. I would go to Secrets Wild Orchid just to see them again. They were not the only ones that made us feel part of the family. Special shout outs to the following people, Shawn, Marco, Suzanne, Nicole, Sharifa, Venicia, Sheronie, Ava, Joseph, Davion, Garfield, Michael, Miguel, Jerome, Kevoy, Travis, Prince (even though he kept taking the butler golf cart), Shanice, Shantay, Wayne, Nicola, Cherisse, Mariah, Billy Love and everyone else who made sure that our vacation was great. However, the ones that really put the smile on our faces were Tajae and Garey. They went above and beyond and were truly the highlight of our trip. I can't say thank you enough for making us feel special and part of your family. I'm honored to have met you both. You are incredible at what you do and I am proud to consider you my friends. I can't wait to see you next year!
A massive resort with plenty to do and fantastic friendly staff. Holidaying from Australia with AUD was a disadvantage so it is expensive - food , drinks, entertainment is all fantastic. Finding your way around may be a lil difficult because the place is so big however, beautiful gorgeous views and clean rooms. If you are looking to shop, i suggest doing it outside the hotel as there is a massive mark up on souvenirs etc We spent New Years Eve here and the hotel had an amazing beach party set up for the guests with amazing food and entertainment. Definitely worth the visit around December - January - weather was great.
This lovely beachside resort is everything I would expect from an adults-only, all-inclusive property. We were impressed with the helpfulness and friendliness of all the staff, from the bellmen to the front desk staff to the servers and other restaurant staff, as well as the housekeeping staff. Let me mention O'Shane at the World Cafe for his outstanding service and sincerely friendly attitude. Also, Tayshawn at the front desk was friendly and helpful with a couple of questions I presented to him. This resort offered very good food in the restaurants we tried. I can't imagine a better breakfast buffet than the one in the World Cafe. We ate supper at the Blue Mountain (Jamaican), Himitsu (Asian) and El Patio (Mexican) restaurants and we had lunch at the Seaside Grill and the Oceana restaurants. I enjoyed the shredded pork wrap sandwich at the Oceana.. Most of the suppertime restaurants are within a few minutes' walk of one another, if not side by side.We enjoyed the beach, the several bars, poolside and otherwise, as well as the general atmosphere of the resort. I was considering deducting a star from my rating because of the annoying and persistent sales pitches to attend a 90-minute presentation to buy into the resort chain's Unlimited Vacations Club. No deduction this time.Staysie's jewelry gift shop in the shopping area has eye-catching women's jewelry made locally.
