Average does sum it up! Or maybe I'm being generous. Some staff were great, some ok, some poor. The public areas were quite often messy, dropped food, etc not cleared up for hours! The rooms on either side of us were constantly smoking on their patios which stopped us from using ours as we have children, (apparently returning Americans who were treated like royalty and were allowed to do anything they wanted, including taking over the entire beach area in front of our room) The restaurant staff during the day were excellent-not quite the same in the evenings! I could go on but life is too short! Far too many negatives which greatly outweigh the positives! Would not return and couldn't recommend to anyone else.
Wild cats being fed off plates in hotel Windows Restaurant: I mentioned that I reported this incident to the Night Manager a Mr Webb who at the time totally agreed with me that this was unacceptable. What I forgot to mention is that after this the so called Manager avoided me like the plague going so far as to pretend he did not recognise me when we did happen to rub shoulders or going in the opposite direction if he thought he saw me before I clocked him. Unfortunately for him I normally clocked him first and was aware of his pathetic moves. Some training on How to Deal with Customer Complaints needed methinks
In reading some of the reviews, I appreciate that not everything goes as planned when on vacation - however, in reality when we booked this resort, we expected it to be an average stay and frankly our time at Sunscape exceeded our expectations. Having travelled all over the Carribean, we knew this wouldn't be a 4 or 5 star resort. We booked very last minute and chose this place as it seemed to be focused for families with young kids.-Transfer to and from airport was seamless-Check in was seamless - we didn't arrive at the resort until 10pm. Upon checking in, we were told our oceanfront room was on the 3 floor. Upon requesting a higher floor we were moved to the 6th. the room was small and somewhat outdated however it had a full ocean view and a stocked fridge. To others concerns where there was never enough towels, this is true - that was the only annoyance we encountered. After a call, we were given towels for our family of 4. -The kitchen even brought out more food at 10pm for those folks who arrived late. They certainly catered to us the night we arrived.-The buffet wasn't overly large, however this resort only had 300 rooms. It is small by comparison and there was always a selection of fresh fruit, omelettes to order, cereals, bacon etc. They even had a kids food corner. We were always greeted warmly by the waiters/waitresses and they did everything to ensure we had water/coffee etc.The drinks and bartenders were terrific! Always serving with a smile and a good variety to choose from. The café on site was a real gem. Serving coffee/tea/pastries/sandwiches, ice cream 24 hrs a day. Everyone was friendly. The Italian and Asian restaurants were good. We really enjoyed O'Dell - ask for him.The only meal that was disappointing was the Seaside Grill. The service was very slow and our waiter never seemed to be around.Pools and beach were fine. What the kids loved were the activities in the pool areas. Dot lead the zumba and everyone loved exercising when she was leading the group. The kids also participating in a variety of games all week where they were given funny money. At the end of the week, they held an auction where you could buy prizes. Again, the kids really enjoyed this aspect. We partook in the mini golf, parasailing, ping pong, etc. Overall, for the price we paid, the resort was just fine.
Stayed five days with family 1/11-1/15 for a birthday celebration. Staff were very friendly and the resort was very clean. Access to both Sunscape Cove and Sunscape Splash on one property. Good variety in dining and several bars in the lobbies and out on the beach. Food and drink are mostly included, only one charge for a wine bottle with dinner. We took advantage of the Dolphin Cove and Chukka tours that were booked through the resort. Both are full day trips and definitely not to be missed. There are several pool areas aimed more towards children and always some live music or other events going on.Did Spa treatments for manicure/pedicure and massage with Marshell. Service was very friendly and high quality. Spa facility was very clean and well maintained. Staff were very professional. There was access to steam room and sauna before the massage also.Overall the stay was a very positive experience. Very satisfied with the service and amenities available for the price.
Hello, we just returned from our very first international family vacation. We primarily chose Sunscape due to the kid's explorer's club, the pirate ship, the waterslides, proximity for rockland bird sanctuary and based on our travel agents advice for snorkeling and upgrading to Cove. So I will break my review down into those things:1) kid's explorer's club: I can't say enough nice things about the Explorer's club ladies (Tasheka, Esmeralda, Charmaine, Renae and Kaylia)! They were amazing with our two young (6 and 7) boys and listened to their interests. For example eventhough only my son wanted to have his facepainted they still did an amazing tiger, and my other son was the only one who wanted tennis lessons and they still organized it. I felt very comfortable leaving our children in their hands.2) the pirate ship: It is such a cool feature! Sadly it really is in need of some upkeep (new paint and fixing some statues). It is still a kid's activity that shouldn't be missed on Tuesday. PLEASE NOTE they don't let you take your own pictures on-board it.3) the waterslides: Amazing! The two waterslides were loved by both my sons and I. 4) Proximity for rockland bird sanctuary: This was a great trip but PLEASE NOTE that the resort charges $100 for the taxi ride and if you walk over to the taxi stand you can take it for $80;5) snorkeling: I have gone snorkeling in over 5 tropical countries and have to say they still have a great variety of fish here. PLEASE NOTE if you bring your own gear then you can go when you want and not be charged BUT THE RESORT DOESN'T HAVE LIFE JACKETS TO SIGN OUT. The reef isn't as colourful as they used to be but that isn't their fault.6) Upgrading to Cove: DEFINITELY worth the money! We originally did it for just the bunkbed but we really didn't realize how much we would enjoy the private restaurant and the quieter side of the resort. IT IS A MUST and I would say that it is this upgrade that makes it 4 star (stocked bar fridge, beach towels, etc).A final note is that they do try to book you for a timeshare sales pitch (they call it something else but whatever). We were just firm that we weren't interested and it was all good. We also didn't stay up for any of the entertainment at night because of the kids.
