What a great place to visit. Perfect for families with kids of any age. Many adult activities if you come without kids or just want a little time to yourself. The staff is all amazing, we did not encounter any staff that wasn't warm and welcoming! It all started with Owayne meeting us upon arrival, we knew the minute we made the right choice to spend our vacation. He turned out to be one of our favorite people! He was also the last person at the resort we saw. Showed the kids magic tricks and made is al laugh a lot! His service is outstanding! Our kids also spent a lot of time playing beach volleyball with many different adults and kids alike, this is where they met another one of their favorite people Kemar from the activities center! He was a blast! When we left our kids went looking for him to say goodbye. Our third favorite person was Jameel! He met us every morning and lunchtime in the windows buffet...had a table always waiting for "his people". After the 2nd day he was always ready with our choice of drink and would joke with the whole family and give us suggestions in what he would suggest seeing on the island. Our daughter visited Coco so much for the ice cream that we thought Stephen was going to give her a job! All and all the place is terrific! Clean, easy to get around, they truly are friendly wonderful people who want your stay to be amazing! We did one excursion to DUNNS River Falls via catamaran along with snorkeling..another great time! Highly recommend this!
We picked this resort because of the reviews on trip advisor. Sorry it's not a 4 + star resort. - it's clean and small. - very basic decor like basic IKEA - food is just okay - aged- it's connected to splash which is even more aged - pools are at splash and aged and look dirty. Always cloudy. - beach very nice but small, limited. - staff incredibly friendly and wanting to please you. - initial response is what did I reserve! But, it does grow on you. - would I go back and tell a friend? No sorry. Even with the very nice staff. They need to modernize it and put that wow factor in it. Keep the amazing staff. The management has right idea with staff. I just don't want to go somewhere that has to grow on you. If it wasn't for the incredible staff I give it 2 stars. This is a true and honest review hope it helps others.
I will start this review by saying I gave this resort a 4 based on the value. We paid $1300 for my family of 5, which is cheap. We got some type of deal that I couldn't pass up. This is defiantly not a 4 star resort. This resort has two sides the Cove and the Splash side, the Cove side is much nicer. We started our stay in a lounge area with drinks and cool cloths, which the kids loved. The check in process was perfect. Our room was fine, but the bathroom was so small, tiny. I was shocked because we booked the family suite. I woke up the first morning to find bugs had invested my daughters medicine. I called the front desk and they immediately got us into another room. Upgraded ocean front, it was amazing the bathroom was perfect. I was very impressed with how the resort handled this issue. If I were to stay there again I would defiantly book an ocean front room. My kids are 6, 7 and 9. The pool was great for them and they loved the water slide. We didn't have to get up early to "reserve" chairs, which was nice, but if you wanted prime seats by the kids pools you had to be there by 9:30. The beach also had plenty of chars. The beach area was very well maintained. Only downfall of the pool was not servers to bring drinks and the pool entertainment was just ok. The kids room was nothing special and they only went once, defiantly an area for improvement. No pool bar by the kids pool you had to walk quite a ways to get to the swim up bar and the service was very slow. The Barracuda bar was fairly close to the kids pool, never opened on time, watered down drinks, warm beer. The bar tenders were not very happy which was a bummer. One day I actually complained and to my surprise another more lively bar tender was there within an hour. I appreciate how fast management reacts to issues. If I were to go again I would request more canned red stripe in my room! I didn't think of this until 2 days They only gave you 2 per day. Food was average. The Terrace was our go to for breakfast and dinner. De Mario was good as well. I wouldn't waste my time at the other places or the buffet. No mimosas at the buffet for breakfast or specialty coffee drinks etc. I'm not sure if this resort offers day passes to locals or other travelers, but everyday there would be an influx of people at the pool during a certain time. They would gather in a large group in the pool or at the bottom of the water slide making it difficult for my kids to play in the pool. Then all the sudden they would be gone. I truly believe this employees at this resort want you to have a good time and want you to be happy. They tried their best each and every day. I am very picky about service and where I stay and I would stay here again. For kicks I checked pricing for the same week this year and it's more, but still way less then any other resort. Again, this resort is a GREAT VALUE!
This was our second two week vacation at the Cove. On arrival we received a cold towel and a drink of our choice. The ladies at check in were very friendly and efficient. Our room was 3117 on the ground floor on the very quiet side of the Cove. We ate breakfast at the Terrace Restaurant every day and enjoyed great service and a wonderful view of hotel landscaping and the spectacular ocean. We spent time at the adult pool most days .The bar service at the pool was very good and friendly. We enjoyed jerk chicken from the jerk chicken cart which moved from pool to pool at lunch time. The buffet offered a good selection of food for lunch. We arrived ten minutes before buffet opens and selected window tables with a great view and a wonderful breeze for our lunch location. Our evening dinners were spread between all the a la carte restaurants. We had great service and fine dining in the restaurants. We had wonderful friendly service everywhere on the resort. Great evening dining service from Oneil , Paul and Taj and hostess Kimeshia with Lenworth at our favorite bar. The Terrace breakfast waiters are all wonderful and I won't name any for fear off missing anyone. Please tip these hard working employees to acknowledge your appreciation of their hard work and friendly smiles .Our travel agent was on vacation herself and emailed the Cove and explained two seniors from Canada would be visiting and would they help if we had minor issues. Nadine Bowen introduced herself at check in and spoke to us most days to ensure we were having a great vacation. We will return next year to enjoy another two weeks of Jamaican fun.
I highly recommend for any couples! My boyfriend and I originally booked splash, despite being a family resort, but when we arrived to check in we were offered an upgrade to cove which is right next door. Not only did we get an assigned butler but had access to the premium bar, room service and exclusive restaurants. The butler gave us a phone to call for any need and was able to book us reservations in advance for restaurants (could be up to an hour wait and only cove guests have this amenity!) The food was excellent! There is a variety of options and we thoroughly enjoyed every meal. The drinks were also fantastic, especially at the cove bar. Rooms also have a stocked fridge! Every morning you get a daily schedule, and there are various activities and events throughout the day including beach volleyball, karaoke, aqua zumba, shows and movies. There is always something going on. There are a variety of pools scattered throughout the resort, and a beach. The pirate pool has a lazy river and water slides, while the activity pool has Zumba, volleyball and more. The 3rd pool has a swim up bar and an adult section, which was very nice. Most importantly, everyone is so kind and welcoming. We felt so appreciated for choosing Sunscape. Quenton, Patrick, Vinroy, OWayne, Lenworth, Diane, and everyone were the nicest! And if you're lucky, OWayne and Vinroy will show you magic tricks! They're excellent! We most definitely plan on coming back within the next year. Thank you to everyone at Sunscape for making our first trip to Jamaica so much fun and welcoming.Sincerely, Amanda
