Sunscape Cove Montego Bay

I enjoyed staying at this all inclusive resort. The restaurant choices are decent. It could use a steakhouse though. The rooms are nice. We had a beach front balcony. Beautiful view of the Sea. The beach was right there. If you like to snorkel, it's right by a reef. The place also has waterslides, lazy river, and other pools to swim in. We upgraded to the butler service, and it was one of the best decisions we made. We had two that swapped out, but always there to help. Our butler introduced our kids to virgin Miami Vice's. They loved them and had them the whole trip. Great place. I look forward to going back. If you travel a lot, they have a resort program you can joing called the Unlimited Vacation Club. We checked it out, and it is a great program. We don't vacation enough or have great flight prices, so it didn't work for us. Fridge was restocked every day with Red Stripe.
Where do I begin? From the moment we walked out the airport we were greeted with warm welcoming smiles and friendly conversation. Once we arrived at the resort the hostess gave us the same warm sincere greeting. The resort was just utopia. The grounds were well manicured, clean, well organized, looking very fresh with great attention to detail. Our room was an ocean view on the second floor (highly recommend!) Bathroom was clean, fully stocked with fresh fluffy towels, hygienic supplies, attention had been paid to the detail in cleanliness of the tiles, thank you Angella! The bed was comfortable, pillows were soft and the balcony was an entrance way to a majestic and calming view. Mini-bar was well stocked and maintained. The entire trip was unforgettable and this is thanks to the hard work of the entire staff. They all worked very hard!! Just to mention a few names that I can recall. Thank you to Nadine, the chief Concierge, thank you Omar and Kerry-Ann for helping us have amazing breakfasts. Great job Sunshine and Terri-Ann. Thank you Patricia for helping us familiarize ourselves with the grounds. Rose-Marie, my girl said her massage was amazing!..The entertainment was entertaining. The restaurant meals were delicious and the service was 5-star. The view.....cannot be put into words!! couldn't get enough of that view. The drinks were great. Thanks to all the bartenders, the jerk was great. All the pools were well tended to and cared for. I can't say enough great things in regards to the amazing staff and their commitment to first-class service. Excellent job to one and all, thank you for making making my winter escape a memorable one. I highly recommend this resort.
I am giving this resort a five star rating only because, for some areas, there are not six stars available. Our first visit to this property was back in the early 1990s when it was called Sea Wind. Since 2003 we had been visiting the same property with the new name Sunset Beach Resort & Spa. Each time we found the property to be very relaxing and enjoyable. This time around we decided to return to the new Sunscape Cove property. We definitely made the right decision. As I said, we are familiar with the Sunset resort property but the Sunscape Cove takes relaxation to a higher level. The check-in procedures were quick and painless. Lorna Clarke, Nadine Bowen, and the housekeeping and bell staff looked out for us at every opportunity. In particular, Ms. Clarke always quickly addressed any need that arose and made sure that our stay was superb. Our room was kept spotless every day and the turn down service and in-room dining were great additions. We missed seeing Renae Daly but she had a very good reason for her absence. She just had a new baby girl. We did speak to her on the phone and she sounded fine and said that she was sorry that she missed seeing us. The staff members at the Cove are some of the most professional and hardest working folks I've seen in a while. From the dining servers to the bartenders your needs are uppermost in their minds, always providing friendly service with a smile. I hesitate to list names because I know I'm going to leave someone out but I must mention our good friends Linworth Bell and Rohan Griffiths at the Terrace bar and Clifton Cunningham at the Barracuda beach bar. Shantal, Carol, Kerry Ann, and Omar at the Terrace Restaurant were great. Janel is very fond of cornmeal porridge and she mentioned this to Kerry Ann one morning. The very next morning Kerry Ann had a bowl of porridge waiting for her. Nice! This is just one example of the attentive, personalized attention that you may expect during your visit. The daily Jamaican breakfast specials were all excellent and a hidden jewel of the restaurant that I truly enjoyed. We did go over to the buffet a few times to eat some of the broad variety of traditional Jamaican fare and to look for our friends from years past. It was very nice to see Maureen, Khadeja, and all the others at the Banana Walk buffet. Our friend Albert Jump is now at the Asian restaurant and it was very nice seeing him again. On the Splash side our friends Barbie Khan, Nicole at the front desk, and our longtime housekeeping person, Sonia, in Tower B, are still around and were happy to see us. I also spotted Mr. Ian Kerr on the beach. All of the staff have become dear friends and like family over the years. They were just as happy to see us as we were to see them. We were here in July, 2016, after the AM Resorts management team had taken over, and there were some "growing pains" that we had observed. This time around we noticed that there had been some very positive strides made in the way of amenities and hospitality. Mr. Oscar Ramirez, the new general manager, has taken great pains to improve the property and to further the "family" atmosphere that we and many others have come to enjoy at this resort. I must also mention Mr. Roberto Irizarri. Mr. Irizarri is the new Food and Beverage director. To our surprise, our first vacation week was also his first week "on the job". However, the professionalism and attention to detail that he displayed would suggest someone who had been in that role for years. The coordination of the "Returning Guests" festivities was right on the money. Thanks to all the staff that participated. Additionally, there is a "new chef in town". Mr. Conrad Moore has taken the culinary side of things at the Cove to new heights. The third "best meal" I have had since coming to this property was the salmon dish he added to the dinner menu. It was spectacular. He was extremely personable and tried to speak with us at least once a day. The food at the restaurant was great. In fact, it rivaled some of the best you will find in any fine dining restaurant. We ate there many times during the day (they serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner) but held back a few times because of concerns about gaining too much weight. We never minded waiting for our food as the restaurant was so serene and relaxing. We had one of the newly refurbished rooms on the second level of the east wing, overlooking the beach and the beautiful Caribbean Sea. Very comfortable and lovely! The other rooms are located around a lush garden area with beautiful tropical foliage. There is a nice wedding chapel on the beach end of the garden. This rises to the Terrace Restaurant so that getting to the dining and lounge areas is just a very short walk. In the event of a relatively rainy day it is possible to navigate the entire resort under cover. The beach area right outside our room features a walk-up bar and a jerk chicken grill. This is, hands down, some of the best jerk chicken we have eaten in a long time! The two chefs that man the grill are Iton and Keniel. Iton is there most days and Keniel fills in for him on his off day. These two guys are magicians with food. From your first bite of this chicken the terms "mouthwatering" and "succulent" immediately come to mind. They do an outstanding job!! I also must mention the "live entertainment" at the Cove. Mr. Frank Smalling is still the pianist that plays in the Terrace lobby several nights a week. He also plays on the Splash side on Wednesdays. We've known Mr. Smalling from when Sunset Beach would provide high tea in the afternoons and he would play. Frank has a degree in piano from Western Michigan University and it shows in his vast knowledge of the literature; from the classics to Broadway show tunes, from film scores to some popular tunes of today. He is very personable and frequently urges those sitting and listening to join in singing a song or he will play a request that a guest may have. This has always been, and remains, a thoroughly enjoyable experience that is one of the highlights of our stay. If you choose to stay at Sunscape Cove, look forward to a very comfortable and relaxing time. We are already making plans for our next visit. Before we left Janel said to me, and I agree, that "this was the best vacation ever".
For the first time out of the country for vacation I couldn't be happier. From the restaurants to the room service I have no complaints. Especially loved Marshalee and Jenesha, kenijah also the bartender lensworth made the trip that much better. They definitely made you feel at home away from home
Staff was very friendly and resort was great! Jenesha and Marshalee were the best, they made our trip so memorable! Lenwoth was an amazing bartender and always made our drinks perfect with a smile!! Our food was awesome! The jerk chicken on the beach is amazing also! A must have!! All the staff was very friendly and the evening shows were very enjoyable!
