Toby's was a good hotel for what it was, I enjoyed my stay although it was very basic and didn't have anything to make it special, It did the job a cute hotel which was very clean and the staff very helpful. The rooms had a nice lay out we stayed in a 3 bed so it was a little claustrophobic but I do believe this was because we had 3 single beds in a room which was probably designed for no more then 2, It was maintained very well by the room maids although the patio door did not shut tight meaning plenty of mosquitoes got in so not ideal. The pool was very quiet but lovely and peaceful and clean, my only disappointment was the fact that the pool bar was never open and no music was played considering the location of the hotel a little quiet music would have really helped. The location was very good even though it was on the end of the main road everything accessible via small walk. The food was not the as good due to the price of food not fitting the actual hotel price as the food was far too expensive and yes very tasty but still not worth the price, the staff never seemed to be around the restaurant or bar and the snacks where almost non existent, we spoke to other people staying who said they found the food overpriced too and never ate there. Most of my time here was lovely I did see a superior talk to a staff member like they where beneath them for not clearing a table which had not been messy for long, this let the stay we had here down as the very basic standard of speaking to a human seemed to be difficult for who ever this superior was. Overall nice stay, nice room, nice pool, expensive food, good staff, potentially awkward employer.
Nice older hotel that is reasonably priced. WiFi available but slow. Parking available and the property is safe and located near the beaches. Decent saltwater pool. Beware of mosquitoes all over the place. When cleaning the rooms they leave the door open and so mosquitoes come in. Great place and the front desk was excellent.
My husband and I travel to Negril yearly. This year, we wanted to experience the Montego Bay side of Jamaica. We already booked our usual resort in Negril and wanted to find something cheaper but decent. Toby's resort was that place. The resort grounds were beautiful and was walking distance from the hip strip. We read all the negative reviews; however, we know Jamaica and wanted to make our own judgement. It was everything we expected and more. We enjoyed our stay. The restaurant was a little pricey, but you can always get food on the strip. Like anywhere in Jamaica, the vendors are a little aggressive with their sales. We looked at what they had to sale and firmly said no. When we did not want to go on the strip to eat, we ate at the restaurant. We ordered our meal and it was delivered to our room. My only complaint was the rooms had the smallest flat screen TV on the wall (possibly a 19 inch), no refrigerator nor microwave. We got creative. We made our own cooler and made numerous trips to the ice machine. I would definitely stay here again.
All good here .very good to have been to staying and getting the opportunity to visit this hotel. Amazing view and top class standards . More of I would like to thank receptionist and housekeeping they were all amazing
Most of our trip was spent at a resort in Negril and the shuttle from that resort drops all their guests at the Sangster Airport. We had to be to the airport at 6am so we took the shuttle back the day before our flight. We choose Toby's based off location, price, and referral from friends. It is close to both the airport and hip strip. We even braved a walk from the airport to the hotel because it is under a mile walking distance. We were delighted to discover that the whole walk had a sidewalk to roll our bags down. We had about 10 taxis try to pick us up and a few street vendor encounters. My husband is a big intimidating dude and I felt safe with him... this is NOT a walk I would have done by myself even in the middle of the day for fear of being mugged. The room is dated, but the service was excellent. The mattress was comfy and the patio was nice to sit on. After eating at the hotel's restaurant, we went out for a night walk to the hip strip... which is literally just around the corner. We got cupcakes at a late night pastry shop and bought snacks for the trip home. Also NOT a walk I would feel safe doing alone. We were going to walk to the airport in the early morning too, but the guard at the gate got us a super good deal on a cab that was sitting in front of the hotel at the time. We would stay here again.
