My wife and I had the pleasure of spending 5 days in one of the newest resorts in Negril. This is my third time to Jamaica and this was my best trip by far. Pick up by private car is a must when heading to Negril. The hotel uses Errol Flynt which is a first class operation. We were there for 5 nights and thus had the opportunity to dine in almost every restaurant and I can honestly say, each meal was outstanding. The resort is set on 7 mile beach. Each day my wife and I walked a couple of miles on this beautiful beach. But what I loved most about the resort were the multiple swim up bars throughout the resort and the wonderful staff that manned these bars. Without question, I would go back to this resort and look forward to my next visit.
I believe this Resort has the potential to be a 5 star resort, however our experience was not that. This resort just opened in June for members of the Karisma Resorts. The service we received was inconsistent, and did not meet our expectations based on the service we have received at other Karismas in the past. The food was fair, grounds and rooms were nice, housekeeping varied based on housekeeper (we had to ask for soap and other necessities at times), ice not brought daily, fridge stocked intermittently, butlers were learning and tried there best (short staffed), bartenders and beach butlers were amazing. Beautiful beach, white sand and crystal clear water. We ventured out and had dinner at 3 amazing places, Kenny's Italian Restaurant, Ivan's and the Rockhouse.
***I would like to warn ANYONE thinking of staying at this resort about my experience so they do not have to go through all we did!***Below is the email I sent to customer service. I also mailed a letter to their corporate office in Miami, Florida. I think it is worth noting that it has been 2 weeks now since I emailed/mailed the letter and NO ONE has even tried to contact me! PLEASE BE WARNED... Worst experience at a resort ever! I have never written a review before but I think it's important for all to be aware! To Whom it May Concern:I am writing this email to let you know about the awful experience I had at Azul Beach Sensatori Resort in Negril, Jamaica and I want all the inconveniences bought to your attention. I cannot even put into words how disappointed I am! My Mother and I have not been on a vacation in over 5 years and we saved up for a long time to go to Jamaica. After doing online research your resort seemed like paradise so that is why we decided to go. Were we in for a surprise when we arrived at the resort! First, we arrived with family/friends and requested that our rooms be next to each other and all 3 of our rooms were in different buildings! We were very excited to be staying in the “brand new premium section” and that excitement quickly faded! Moreover, our room wasn’t ready upon the appropriate check-in time so we had to sit in the lobby for TWO hours and wait for our room. This was just the beginning! We were then taken to our room in building 12 (room 12111). The shower does not drain well and floods the ENTIRE bathroom every time you use it. My Mom and I tried everything to stop the water from overflowing all over and it was useless. You couldn’t even blow dry your hair or iron in the bathroom because we were afraid of being electrocuted! We notified the front desk and the manager, Renardo, assured us maintenance would come. Well the entire day past by and no one came! Day 1 of our vacation sitting in a room for nothing! It’s difficult being on an island with such extreme heat so of course we each showered 2-3 times day. It was a huge project each time. We had to call housekeeping to come in with mops throughout the day. The maids were getting annoyed, we had to spend so much money each day continually tipping them because we felt so bad. Later that day I contacted the front desk again since no one came to look at the shower and again, Renardo, assured me he would be in touch with me to get us a room change. As a manager there I believed him and waited for him to contact me. It is now Saturday NIGHT and no contact at all from him. So I had to walk down to the lobby to find him and amazingly our room was changed within the hour. My Mom and I had to re-pack and move to another building, 11 (room 11107) which was very aggravating. Once we got done unpacking and settled in we noticed the room wasn’t getting cool. We adjusted the thermostat and waited and the temperature stayed at 79 degrees. So we had to call the front desk again to let them know about this issue. We were embarrassed having to call and complain about yet another issue! No one came that day to help us. The next day they sent in some kid who was actually a security guard to look at the issue and he just stared aimlessly at the thermostat and said nothing was wrong etc. So by the THIRD day of no air and it now being 81 in our room, I went to the lobby and they sent someone to our room (I have pictures of all the maintenance guys and ladders all in our room)! It wasn’t until Andre came to our room was the problem resolved since he had to repair the issue on the roof. He was very nice but again it was THREE days of no air and day 5 of our 7 day vacation! And if all this wasn’t enough, the room that we share the hallway with got flooded out from a clogged drain so we had to smell feces for the next 2 days as this was cleaned and aired out, hoses all over our hallway. We also had the pleasure of listening to the machine as it was digging up the tiles in the hallway to get to the drain etc. (I can provide pictures and videos). So at this point the vacation we have been saving up for for so long is almost over and we have no happy times whatsoever! When you go on vacation you expect to relax and have a good time. Unfortunately that did not happen at your resort. There was no music on the beach or at the bars at all. We met many other guests who voiced the same concerns as we did regarding that. Additionally, the swim up bar closes at 5pm! How ridiculous is that! Thursday night there was about 20 of us gathered at the swim up bar and they were closing it down. We asked the bartender to get a manager and when Renardo came we asked him if we could pay the bartender out of our pockets $20/hour to stay at the bar so we can continue to enjoy ourselves and he wouldn’t even allow that and WE WERE PAYING! We had to use our cellphones all day to play music at the beach, bars, etc because your resort couldn’t even offer that. This was truly the vacation from hell and if my Mom and I weren’t traveling with so many people we would have left the resort the day after we arrived! It is very sad that people are in a manager position (Renardo) and they do not keep their word or even try to make things better. He knew how TERRIBLY unhappy my Mom and I were and didn’t do anything whatsoever. On that note, I would like to mention that the ONLY professional, kind, and accommodating employee we met at your resort was the food and beverage manager, Milton. He kept his word and had the food accommodations for my Mom and I each night and went above and beyond for us. We don’t know what we would have done without him being there! He, by far, stands out from all of the other staff at that resort and I hope you recognize this.In closing, this mother/daughter getaway that we planned for so long was just a nightmare. I did not pay thousands of dollars to travel and stay at a “luxury resort” like this and it is very disheartening! What’s worse is how unhappy we were was known by management and staff and no one cared at all except for Milton!I contacted our travel agent during our trip and yesterday when we got home to let her know about this. Furthermore, I plan on telling ALL of my family and friends about our experience as well as online reviews so they don’t have to endure what we did. My Mom and I were severely disappointed by the conditions we suffered at your resort and the way we were treated. I hope you take appropriate action to address the issues that I brought to your attention and continue focusing on the training of your staff. We spent all this money for a wonderful resort experience and the disappointment cannot even be put into words. Respectfully,Tiffany
The Azul Beach resort Jamaica took my breath away - my partner had surprised me with a 10 night stay at this beautiful resort (lucky I know). I was blown away by the tropical hotel. Pros: The staff went above and beyond all expectation throughout our stay, every member from cleaners to managers. I particularly loved the bar staff from the Rasta lounge "frisco" he was fab! Always went out of his way to say hello and keep us drinking - as a good bartender should. The rooms were large and spacious we stayed in building 2 (22003) we had a beautiful view of the adults swim up pool&bar and a cracking view of the picturesque beach... superb! The cleaning was done all hours of the day, pool toilets are normally not that great but every hour someone checked them. The food: well all of it was fabulous a great choice of restaurants and buffet. The mahogany room is air con (good choice, if you have had too much sun) The jerk chicken is unreal, blows your head off a little but I enjoy the spice. The Thai restaurant must have been my favourite if I had too choose. There is also so much choice for those of us which at GF any allergies they take into consideration. So well done sensatori. The security is very good on the beach, I cannot fault the organisation of this hotel.. The singers on the beach were awesome and gave me the Jamaican feeling. Cons: I do not have much too say on this front as my stay was exceptional. However we were they over the period that Jamaica got its independence and boy do they celebrate. Some of the other guests (young) were fairly rude by the fact they played their own music around the pools and beaches and no one had asked them to turn it down for only their ears. But that is my only discretion towards this hotel. Advise: book the YS falls trip! One of the greatest experiences I have done. Honestly do not be worried about handing the guides your phones- they document your walk through the falls and it's insane. You would not get the photos you do without them! Get booking! Guys, I cannot stress enough how much I enjoyed my time here! Potentially a wedding venue for the future. Hope you guys experience the same magical time that I did. Well done Azul sensatori!
We have just returned from 2 weeks stay here.Lots to tell you.take American dollars as you can't change Serling at the resort. There is an ATM at the board walk next door but charges every time.Bring a lilo perfect in the sea and pool and cost 20 dollars in the gift shopDon't underestimate the Jamaican sun bring plenty of sun cream and of a high factor.Bring anti histamine for the bites and prickly heatNo need for beach towels as they are plentiful.Book club Mobay lounge as the airport is manic this really eases you through both ways if you can afford it.Thompson premium club worth every penny!Bring a travel kettle for your morning brew as not supplied in rooms. Coffee machine onlyWe tried to utilise this for tea with ltd success. The resort itself is stunningBe prepared to go through a bit of a speech at mealtimes - feels a bit scripted as the host takes your name room number and asks you about food allergies then supplies you with hand wash, it felt a bit contrived 3 times a day for 14 days, that said the food was great. We loved the Italian where you could get a decent steak. The jamaican food was really authentic and delicious.Premium spirits on offer except brandy which was a disappointment as all other spirits were e.g. Johnnie walker whisky absolut vodka etc. Was hoping for Hennessy got a Jamaican equivalent that didn't suit my taste. I had to try every cocktail on the menu instead. All delicious btwStaff when they were good were excellent. Some were a little less welcoming. The wonderful staff we met were Marion in Palms along with Laverne Neno, Sheryl and Shemar at the main pool barTerence and the team at the Nesta barDamian at the adults only pool barThese guys had the experience and the natural customer service without it being over the top it just felt as though they enjoyed talking to us and making a positive difference to our time with them.We were in the old part of the resort adults only with a swim up pool. It was everything we hoped for absolutely lovely.I think the resort colleagues could be a bit quieter when they arrive for work in the morning as we were woken every day between 5 and 6 by staff arriving for work and shouting to each other. Be prepared for the storm and rain at this time of year and really make the most of the beautiful morning sunshine on average it lasts until about 2 every day.We enjoyed the rain as much as the sun as it was a welcome break. The biggest downer was that there was some maintainance work to the decking right outside our room during our 2nd week and it was noisy and dusty. It also rendered some of the sunbathing area useless. This was ongoing for the whole 2nd week and still not finished when we left. I understand this type of maintainance is necessary but given the weather challenges I think you could've had more people on the job to get it done quicker. All that said this has been a wonderful holiday and we will hope to return next year fully equipped with all our learnings. Some of which may sound obvious to some people especially if you've travelled to Jamaica before. I hadn't and was Not prepared for the strength of the sun hence burning and prickly heat. The beach is the most beautiful I've ever seen. Unspollt and natural. When sunbathing you will be approached by various buskers and beach sellers they can't come onto your part of the beach so they will call to you as they have to stay near the waters edge. If you do not wish to buy or be serenaded they are cool once you say no and will move on. Although do take a couple of dollars as some of the singers are really good.Security are excellent around the resort and on the beach and have a genuine affection for the people who work on the beach. Go and see Doctor Love brilliant local character who lives and works on the beach.I think that's everything that I wish I'd known for now. Can't wait to return - just wish it was a bit closer as jet lag is horrendous.
