Beachcomber Club & Spa
- What's Included
Recently booked a vacation for this resort but after a personal tragedy had to cancel. After 2 weeks and several phone calls and emails this resort refuses to even acknowledge me and refuses to reimburse our credit card for four thousand American dollars Horrible horrible customer service
Just spent the weekend in Negril and stayed at Beachcomber Club. We had a lovely time. 6 of us had 3 rooms. All the rooms were very spacious. We had one suite, which came with a full kitchen, living & dining area, as well as a spacious patio and a washer /dryer. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. It is an older property with lots of upgrades going on now, Oct 2016, so I can't wait to go back again and see what the new rooms look like. The beds were firm and comfortable. We had breakfast at the Beachcomber, which was good value and ate dinner out both evenings.I will go back.
First, this hotel is located on probably the nicest beach in Jamaica (Seven Mile Beach) in the best part of Jamaica -- in fact, the only part of Jamaica I'm still interested in visiting. While for the rest of Jamaica safety is an issue, Negril remains very safe and secure. You can walk the beach and roads at all hours. There are many really quaint beach bars that are fantastic and cheap. The Duty Free shops in town are great. Shop around before you buy, as the prices vary from shop to shop for a lot of similar souvenirs. An Asian guy owns one small shop that has the best prices and he is a super guy - friendly, helpful and fair. As for the hotel (calling it a resort would be very generous), it is very very small. Upkeep is not being done which is unfortunate because they have a great spot. The food is not great. If you go with an all-inclusive package, just get the drinks and breakfast. Lunch and dinner have very few items and the food is recycled from day to day. That being said, the beer is great (Red Stripe) and they use real fruit for the mixed frozen drinks. We basically lived on smoothies - alcoholic and non-alcoholic - and Jamaica patties on the beach. Fill up on breakfast. There is a great bbq place (jerk chicken, etc.) across and down the street with picnic tables out front. Eat there for dinner (they only take cash). We ate there two or three times. The pool is really small. Be careful with the choice of room. Some share a patio, which is a problem if your neighbours stay up to the wee hours and are loud. The middle room also controls the outside lights, for the far left rooms, which are outside the patio door. So depending on your neighbours' schedule you may have no light when you need it or too much light when you don't. These far left rooms are also adjoining (to the middle rooms) so again, noise is an issue. They should really not be sold as stand alone rooms. The rooms on the right (closer to the central path) have delineated patios and are standalone rooms. The rooms were rundown but clean. The servers were very nice as were the bar staff. The wine was not drinkable. I hesitate to recommend, but if you want a budget hotel and pay only for breakfast and drinks (or just the room) you might be okay with this property. Sunwing is selling this hotel as an all-inclusive and it is not capable of doing offering this type of package. However, Negril is very expensive and very popular, so this has to be taken into consideration. I'll go back to Negril but I'll do more research before I commit to a resort. A lot of the residents we met own timeshares and they were a lot of fun. But apparently the vast majority are not renewing. So in summary, I went with a friend and my two kids; the beach is fantastic; the town is super; the independently owned bars and restaurants on the main drag and the beach are good value; the Duty Free mall is worth the 20 minute walk (longer if you stop at the many quaint beach bars); the various tours are all well run and worth it (do the rum tour; Rick's Canteen is over-rated and drinks are expensive - we still had fun watching the divers).
Excellent beach.excellent staff.there is remodeling going on .when completed the property will be restored to when first opened 20 years ago.u wont be dissapointed when arriving.once there u won't want to leave.absolute paradise
We just returned from our family vacation. The entire family of 12 was able to come! The staff was excellent. My niece and I celebrated our joint birthday there and they had a wonderful party for us. The manager Dominique took the time to come to the party and spend time with us. We enjoyed getting to know her daughter this trip. Everyone feels like family to us. We will be back next year! We miss that gorgeous beach already!
