Gem on Negril beach.

Tasteful Jamaican décor. Rooms are spacious and spotless with powerful A/C. Great French/Jamaican restaurant. The staff is very friendly. Best location on Negril beach, plenty of palm trees with full time security. Very hard to leave this wonderful place. Stayed here in October, last year.

Relaxing Trip with the guys.

Very good food, excellent service and moderate prices. Very good atmosphere! Kid friendly atmosphere or for anyone looking for great food. The owner is often there and readily solicits suggestions for improvement. One of the best in Negril!

Good hotel on GREAT beach

Charela gets high marks for providing a quite comfortable room (bathroom a bit cramped), good food and a friendly staff. Would be at least a 4* anywhere else. Here it is 5* for the beach, one of the best we have ever been on in more than 50 years of global travel. Incredibly soft sand, excellent natural shade, nice water (could use more surf though), clean beach towels every day, interesting people watching, excellent massage from Sandra, good restaurants immediately to the north and south, lunch from Le Vendome served on the beach, Enjoyed the band on Thursday night and the efficient transfer to and from Montego Bay – thanks Granville. Can’t tell you anything else about Negril – in 5 days we never got more than 100 feet from the hotel! We will return.

Annoying lazy staff & mad manager

Run away this hotel is the worst which you can find in 7'mile beach in Negril compare to other one with the same value. That's our experience.1. Internet. There is no internet connection in rooms and very nonstabil outside. Is it 3-4star hotel or hostel? After 6 days was my bill for the roaming data 383 USD.2. Staff. They are so lazy some of them never say thank you, good morning, please and never smile to no one. They don't even know the words like good morning what would you like to order for breakfast? They are like uneducated staff from the street. They prefer to talk to each other rather than work. We saw it with many guests. Only one mistress (old lady) was decent, smiling and willing. We recorded pictures and video of them what they are doing to show it to our friends. Even in Burger King you will heard words like "you're welcome" and never from this staff even we said it 50 times!3. Rooms. They are dirty old and not like in hotel pictures. Some of them like ours don't have daylight. Bathroom is also dirty and without toiletries just small cheap soup even you prepaid full. Also you feel smoke from the outside in you're room.4. Security on a beach. This is good joke too. He is not here and If yes he don't care about annoying sellers and drug dealers. He just sits hiding on a chair wearing headphones and listening music or chatting with friends.5. Breakfast. AlaCarte but without drinks. No water just extreme small one 100ml juice and hot tea or hot coffee. So bring you're own juice or water from the store. This is so crazy!6. Food. The food is not amazing and is with same annoying lazy staff. We had dinners in Kuyaba (amazing and friendly staff).7. Manager. He doesn't care about anything and doesn't control his job. He just wants to rob you for bad service and even lets you bother and blame your friends. He should go back to school to know who is the customer and where does he get his pay and not to be in the street without work like his other compatriots.8. Guests. Mostly retired and old people. Great for hotel because they don't care about services, internet, food and so on. They just lie and sleep. Even if they will they are afraid to complain and say somethink.9. Pool. This is asolutely useless. Nobody goes there is cold deep and there is still a shadow.10. Garden. Nothink special. Sometimes they clean it but there are still stones and rubbish on the ground.11. Beach. This is one thing which is good. Beach is nice and with palms. But they don't care so mach to clean it as well. Afternoon and in the night hours walking around so many prostitutes and we saw 100m from the beach on the ground syringe probably from drugs. So be very careful.Overall quality was totally insufficient and far from my standard. It was a very bad idea to choose this hotel. My friends stayed at another hotel 1km far and I wanted to be at a nice beach even I will pay twice for single staying just be visited. It was very disappointed. No one from us will go back to Jamaica. Jamaica is one of the worst countries which we have visited and I already met 52 countries from all over the world. People are not candid. You are just a wallet for them to have what they have to eat and drink and what to buy drugs for. It's a paradise for bloody people. But you can close your eyes close to you're resort or hotel and don't know anything about them but we saw 7 cities and met so many locals and don't want it anymore.

The resort is good but beware of the restaurant!

The rooms are cleaned every day and you get fresh towels too (not necessary but they always changed ours, even though we always hung them up). You also get free beach towels every day.WiFi was good when we arrived but deteriorated towards the end. We were told that they changed the provider and ever since then we didn't have good reception in our room. We really cannot complain about the rooms / facilities, they were nicely furnished and well looked after. Some stuff needs a bit of TLC or replacement but over all, its a lovely place to stay.Breakfast is good as well, you have a good variety to chose from. The beach section is also the nicest you get (compared to the others). Nice palm trees, lots of shade but also enough sunny areas. You get ash trays to take along with you, if you smoke. There's a guard who keeps watch over that area. Personally I feel like the staff (restaurant) is the worst thing about this place. They dont seem professional and dont seem to care about it. The food is overpriced and the cocktails aren't any good. Tip, go buy water etc. at another place / supermarket for cheaper and fill up your fridge (there's one in the room).
