Coco La Palm
- What's Included
This hotel is one of the best in Negril. The only thing that I could comment negatively about would be the room bedding should be updated. The bathrooms are nice. Loved having coffee in the room, and a refrigerator. We did have an ant problem but they sprayed for them and that really helped. The beach is amazing. Michelle and Dennis the Menace are wonderful at the Beach Bar.
Food was great. Most of he staff was great, however, Rocquel was remiss in bringing my change back and when ask three times she was rude and curt when confronted with bringing Change back to me. This is not indicative of the majority of the staff.
I'll try not to repeat what other reviewers have already praised the resort for--e.g. lush and beautifully maintained grounds, spacious rooms, swimming pools, security, etc. So, here are a couple of tips and things we loved about our stay in this resort:1. The front desk staff is very efficient and accommodating in case you may have any problems with your room assignment. Keep in mind that certain types of rooms are limited to specific floors--for instance, all Deluxe rooms are only on the ground floor, etc. Just check the hotel's website for descriptions if you have certain preferences.2. The rooms in the new wing (the last one, next to the adult swimming pool) are modern, beautifully designed, convenient, clean, with a spacious balcony if you're on the 3rd floor. Highly recommended.3. Internet is available on the beach and connection is great outside, but you may not have good internet access in some of the rooms. I guess, life is supposed to happen all outside in Jamaica.4. There are plenty of beach beds on the beach and you can get fresh beach towels every day. Very convenient.5. If you have breakfast included, you have to mention to your server that you'd like "Continental breakfast." if you order from the menu, you'll have to pay additionally. The continental breakfast is sufficient but you have almost no choice over what you get--it consists of a tray of pastries, a couple of toasts, butter and jam, coffee or tea, small plate of fresh fruit or fruit juice. That's it ... every single day.6. The day bar and restaurant is very convenient for lunch (e.g. delicious pizzas and a choice of drinks). The servers will take great care of you!7. There are many restaurants nearby along the beach (primarily in the direction towards Negril) where you can have dinner with live music. Nothing special or high end, but reasonably priced for the most part.8. Once you get out of the beach area, it's difficult to get back in because access is blocked by the hotels and they'll not allow you to walk thru their facilities, so you'll have to find public access to get back on the 7-mile beach. Absolutely inconvenient.9. You never know how much a taxi ride will cost you--it's as much as you negotiate it for. Slice the price a cab driver gave you in half (or less) and pick it up from there.10. Prices are given in US$ in the tourist areas and you can pay in US dollars (or Jamaican dollars if you choose to). Expect 20% added to your bill (10% tax and 10% service).11. Weather was beautiful, sunny, with a nice breeze, temperature in early January was 82-84F; evenings were cooler at around 75-77F but still pleasant; water was warm, calm and great for swimming in the mornings. The resort offers stand up paddling boards for free.Bottom line, everything keeps you in the mood "life is good"!
Best staff, so friendly and helpful. Erica is an amazing maid. Room super clean. Change sheets daily.Great bartenders and security people. Front desk made everything wonderful. The best part are the 3 events per week. Live reggae music with best ever BBQ, cocktail party at pool with free rum punch and DJ was a bkast, and karaoke night too. Location is central to all on 7 mile beach. Go, stay here, tell them Shayla and Susan sent you.
We didn't stay at Coco but sunned down the beach at Sun Beach. We came to Marley's few times for breakfast and it was really terrific! All of the baking is done on premises, and it showed. The banana bread was served warm and was sooooo good. The croissants that the sandwiches were served in were incredible. Coffee was delicious as was their OJ. The ackee and saltfish were excellent as well. Service was a bit spotty as one morning it took over an hour to get our breakfast. All in all, we'd return here in a heartbeat!
