- What's Included
We stayed here for 7 nights mid-march . Front Desk - OK check in, however tried to charge extra for our 13 yr. old daughters breakfasts which we had pre-paid - also there was a $100 deposit for the use of the safe and we were told we could use that deposit for purchases at the bar or restaurant - It worked out alright ,I just don't like surprises. Our Room was one King and a pull-out on the second floor of a 3 story villa like building overlooking the pool. AC worked fine - plenty of hot water although water pressure seemed to decrease during peak times(no big deal) Beds a little on the firm side - Pillows a little on the flat side(no big deal) Food - Breakfast was great (and complimentary) , 5 or so selections not huge servings but good quality and a good way to start your day. We also had lunch a couple of times and dinner once and the meals were fine. The Bar was good $3 for a beer and $6 - $8 for a mixed drink. Service at the Bar and restaurants was great. The Beach area was excellent, plenty of chairs and a good mix of sun/shade. Security was great , no higglers bothering you unless you waved them up - and our belongings were safe on our chairs when we decided to venture into the ocean or go for a walk - Just let Security know you are going for a walk and they will keep an eye on things while your gone - Still, never leave anything of value behind when you do this. We left our towels/books/coolers and such on our chairs and went for hour long walks - no problem. In return I did give security a tip or cold drink on a few occasions during the week. I also gave the Bar staff a small tip for filling up my collapseable cooler with ice to keep water and other items cold. Overall we had a great vacation at Country Country ( met some very nice fellow travellers, good laid back feeling to the place all on the most vibrant beach we have ever been to (we will certainly return) I will post a trip report on the forum outlining where we went /the various places we ate/ our excursion to Calico Jacks and our overall experience in Negril as it compares to our other destinations.
I'm looking at all the other reviews and can't figure out what most of them are talking about. My wife and I have stayed at almost 20 different locations over the last 20 years. This is a run down hotel with a very tight beach. Your right on top of each other. Food is fine. They are now tearing down some of the old units. New 1 open soon. Very dated property. Much better places to go on 1 of the best beaches in the world.
I found Country Country on TripAdvisor. I booked 3 nights based on the good reviews and pictures, and I'm so glad I did. My husband and I had such a good time that we're already planning to return and stay another night (or maybe 2) next year. Every staff member we came in contact with from the office to security to housekeeping to food and beverage service was friendly and accommodating. We loved the laid back vibe and felt truly relaxed. We can't wait to go back again.
Just returned from our 6th trip to Negril & our 3rd to Country Country. We love the laid back atmosphere and "smallness" of CC. There were a few things that we noticed this year that have slipped a little since our last visit. Beach towels were in very short supply. We had to use our beach towels for 3 days until clean ones were put out. The breakfasts are included and still very good but the portions seem to be smaller, ie not even a full slice of bacon. The maids are lovely ladies, but our room wasn't cleaned until 5PM one day and it wasn't cleaned at all on another occasion. It wasn't a huge deal, we were able to get clean towels off the cart and make our own bed. We had lunch & dinner 2x each at the hotel, both times very good. Even with the above mentioned, Country Country is a lovely small hotel with lots of charm and atmosphere. We will definitely be back.
Loved our stay at Country Country. After a stay at an all-inclusive in Montego Bay, it was a very different world to arrive to - laid back and relaxing- tree frog sounds at night and bird song in the morning. The cottages are very pretty and clean. Loved the porch to sit out in the mornings. We stayed at two different ones - a stand alone cottage and one on the top floor, surrounded by trees. Just gorgeous! The beach is literally steps away, the bar and restaurant serve up good food and drinks. The pool is small but well kept and my teen enjoyed it when he didn't want to swim in the ocean. There were enough beach chairs for all the guests, though people would reserve their favorite spots early morning, as people do at most resorts. The security guard kept vendors away from the hotel beach chairs, and we felt very safe leaving our stuff there. A pretty good breakfast was included..the pancakes were delicious..! The hotel's cab guy was available when needed - made it easy to get around. A couple small issues came up in the room, which were addressed immediately. We had a great time, thanks Country Country!
