My husband and I just got back yesterday after a super 10 days. This hotel is a little gem with lovely bungalows and second story rooms in the trees. Gardens are immaculate, housekeeping excellent. Breakfast is good but portions abit small - wish there was more fruit on the plate and an extra two pieces of bacon. Overall, however, the menu is really meh. They try to do north american food but fall short - I would recommend that they focus on the excellent Jamaican ingredients and cooks they have right there. A frozen burger patty and fries is just boring. Also, prices are $$$. I was surprised that dinner for two is about $80 USD most nights. We got smart and went to the local Negril Grocery (Hi LO) and got our own beer and snacks. Had a fabulous dinner at Ivans restaurant On the cliffs. FYI, have the hotel call Ivan's who will come and pick you up for FREE and a reasonable cab fare back. Overall, we will be back. Staff is wonderful, weather superb and hotel lovely. Well done team.
We have recently returned from nearly 3 weeks at this hotel, I want to review it fairly as some staff were wonderful and some were poor, You cannot fault the location. Our room (504) was tired but it would seem that the hotel is on an expansion and upgrade plan.I am so torn between the good things and the not so good so if you are reading this because you are considering staying here I will separate the two.Good things:Hotel location is amazing.Security is excellent (well done George and your colleagues) Gardens are tropical and well kept.Breakfast is very nice and included in the room rate.Andre, the waiter and cocktail wizard was amazing and whilst most staff were OK a few of the girls were very 'sour faced' and seem to resent the fact they had to serve people.Poor points ( I did not say bad)We travelled 21 hours to Montego Bay, this was our choice as we routed via Atlanta. I had notified Monique 7 months before our trip and a week before and a day before that we would need picking up from the airport. "No problem Eardly will collect you" We were sent comprehensive instructions regarding what we needed to do at the airport and where we would meet him. After hanging around in the hot evening for 1 hour it was becoming clear that he was not coming. We were offered a "Taxi" that turned out to be a knackered old Japanese car that had no fuel and was not a taxi. By now we were exhausted so took the ride from hell! Now the taxi driver was not a reflection on the holiday but if the hotel had sent our executive bus we would not have to start our holiday on such a sour note. Back to the hotel, the next morning i inquired to the whereabouts of our transport and I received a barrage of lies and excuses. Up until the day we left they kept lying about this until we got in the bus for the return trip and the driver told us he has forgotten to collect us.We were asked if we would like to have Christmas dinner at the hotel restaurant. It seemed a good option as we could dine with our new holiday friends. We sat down at our reservation time and then waited 2 hours for any food to arrive. We had complained after about an hour and they said "if you are hungry you can have your dessert now as that is ready" As I normally have my desert at the end of the meal we declined. I do not understand why when we waited 2 hours for food it was cold when it arrived. So Christmas dinner ruined! It gets worse as by now I was not happy the quickest thing to arrive was the cheque! Always the quickest thing to arrive in Jamaica! By now I had given up on Christmas so went back to my room to listen to some music and the next thing the manager 'Monique' was hammering at my door shouting that I had not signed the cheque and told her to go away as I had signed it and left it on the table. We were at the hotel for nearly 3 weeks and they had my credit card so I was not going anywhere. If there had been an issue it could have been resolved the next day!I am trying to illustrate that the management at this hotel is hopeless, ineffectual and needs reviewing by the owners.I would not return to Country Country Beach Cottages but I would return to Negril. In summary, a pleasant hotel in a good location managed by very poor people, my suggestion is CHANGE THE PEOPLE! Or at least train them to a better standard.
Stayed here on january 2017 ....as soon as we arrived ,we loved it ....the cutest cottages and ours was next to the pool and steps away from the beach ...it was perfect ,clean and close to margaritaville and other restaurants and souvenir shops etc....breakfast was included for 2 ppl in our group of 3 and i wish they had more jamaican food choices ...also they did not have laundry service so i had to take my dirty clothes back home ....but overall it was fantastic ..
My family and I have stayed at this property several times in the past 7 years. During this time the property has increased it's accommodations and amenities. The reason we like Country Country is due to the smaller size and the very pleasant staff. Most of the staff have been employed here for many years and as a result tend to remember repeat customers such as my family. In addition, if guests travel by the wonderful coach: Knutsford Express from either Montego Bay Airport, New Kingston or many other tourist towns in Jamaica, the bus depot is very close to Country Country, so the taxi fare is about US$10 for 2, including luggage.
The pictures don’t do this place justice! We had our own villa right on the beach! The service was impeccable! We were never let down. The food was FANTASTIC!!! We cannot stress enough about the amazing food!!! It is situated on the seven mile beach, central to restaurants and beach parties and all activities. There is security and the guards are the nicest people on earth! You never feel unsafe. Be aware there are a lot of people trying to sell you cigarettes or a Jet Ski ride but don’t blow them off rudely – the nicer you are the more they leave you alone- honesty in Jamaica is all you need and your trip will be unforgettable. We went to the Jungle nightclub, which is “the club to be seen at” nothing to flash at all but the atmosphere is great and a nice place to meet others. Only bad experience we had was when I got my hair braided by the lady on the right of the hotel- she did a fantastic job however she recommended her daughter to give pedicures and manicures – waste of money, unhygienic and DEFINITELY not professional at all- you will be disappointed. Other than that everything else was amazing – watch out for the Stingrays when swimming at the beach (the Jamaicans say they won’t harm and their family)
