Booked a Premium room thinking the rooms were larger and able to accommodate the 3 of us more comfortably for 3 nights. We came to find out from a not so friendly front desk lady that the "Premium" rooms don't refer to the size, but to the proximity to the beach. Also we got a premium room downstairs, and while these lovely wooden country cottages are cute, quaint and a fantastic nod to British colonial architecture, being under the wooden floors with the people above moving furniture, walking heavy footed, and just generally "being" right above, was annoying on the times that we were in the room. Breakfast was good and the beach was clean and nice. I've always liked this property, I just hope they correct the customer service issues.
Great location on the beach, clean cottage with OK amenities.. that's it. As a travel agent I will not be back to Country Country and I will not recommend this property to anyone. Boy, where to start! Lying, rude and disrespectful female restaurant staff. Upon first arrival, the maid refused to change our beds from a king to two twins (which I had requested) and tried to get us to wait until the second day. Also - yes, the "KING" bed is two twins. Watch out if you want a real bed for 2 people! After coming from a guest villa in rural Treasure Beach Jamaica where we had free WIFI all over the resort and in the room, the WIFI at Country Country was less than abysmal. No WIFI in the rooms, poor connection in the few public areas it is offered. If you are a business traveler or concerned with internet at all do not stay here! Rampant mosquitoes and NO SCREENS over the windows! I have never seen anything this stupid at a hotel before. Hotel bar drinks were overpriced ($8 hotel vs. $4 everywhere else). The cherry on top, a hidden last minute service charge for anything sent to your card from the restaurant/bar that the staff did not inform you about when you purchased! Luckily, there are TONS of other hotel options in Negril that treat their guests more respectfully and kindly and I look forward to staying at one of those other places next time!
We stayed at country country recently to celebrate my dad's birthday. The hotel was great, very beautiful and the staff was amazing; Andre was great and so were the other bartenders. The only issue that i had was that the manager robbed me. We had arranged my dad's birthday dinner with Monique (which was great) i had requested some beer for my dad and wine for everyone else, my dad had about 8 beers and Monique charged me for 48, i did not complain, i even tipped her. I guess she felt guilty because the next day she told me that i have 16 more beers remaining from the night before... that is still much less than 48. Is it that she does not get paid enough why she chooses to steal from guests and am i the only one who has had this experience?
We had a lovely 3 night stay at the Country Country Cottages in Negril. We had our own little ground floor cottage, positioned a little back from the beach and opposite the pool. Had a lovely, small feel with a relaxed atmosphere. The room was ideal, enough space for two - bathroom a little small, and the pressure on the shower would disappear sporadically but hey, you're on the beach! We had breakfast included, which was great - a choice of dishes each morning including juice and coffee. All was fine, apart from one morning where we had to wait an hour before we got any food or drinks, not sure what happened but it looked like the waitress couldn't serve more than one table at a time which was strange. Apart from that there was great, friendly service all round - including at the bar, and security. We ate once at the restaurant in the evening as well and the food was also good. The location on the beach is great, you can lie on your lounger and watch the world go by! However you are missing out if you don't take a walk down the beach - listening to the live music at Boat Bar was a highlight of the holiday for us!
This resort, which is termed beach cottages, is fantastic. It's not a 5 star with all the attendant fancy facilities but it is wonderful. A small hotel/ resort with a series of timber built cottages running down from the main road to the beach - all of which are painted in lovely pastel wash giving the whole place a lovely feel and atmosphere. Great well tended gardens - all of which makes for a relaxing beautiful setting. We went in a gang of ten split over 3 cottages and we were all very happy with the spacious air conditioned rooms and the good bathrooms. There's a small pool which is fine for the children but of course the real treat is to go on to Negril Seven Mile Beach with its soft sand and azure water. So step from the hotel grounds onto the beach - where Country Country has its own longers, chairs and umbrellas. No need to start any further!!Welcoming helpful staff, a small though good sea facing bar, and a small restaurant which serves up good breakfasts and fair lunchtime grub. One of the best places we have ever stayed in Jamaica( and we've done a lot of trips there)
