OverviewFun Holiday Beach Resort is ideally located on Negril's world famous seven mile beach and near to shopping, golf and more.
This was the most disappointing Resorts I have ever stayed in. The food was awful and was the same thing over and over. They would constantly run out of food even knowing how many guests were all-inclusive. Oh, don't want to forget how they would continuously run out of alcohol too! The pool was dirty because they would not run the pool pumps throughout the day. It was a very run down place! Yes, you DO get bothered (not stop) by walking vendors! Cats everywhere! AC would not cool the room. Water was shut off after midnight for unknown reasons. We decided to just lay our heads here and take off to other places during the day. The bee's around the bar were by the hundreds. I witnessed a staff member and guest that got stung. They want to charge you for every little thing. Locked Safe in room $4/day. $5 for beach towels. No phone in room. Only 2 rooms face the ocean. Very noisy when trying to sleep. Again, this place was the WORST/AWFUL! A little fix up could sure help!!
This is low end motel/resort but is clean and safe. You cannot beat the location, right in the center of the 7 mile beach. Enough blue loungers for everyone. Shaded palms for @ 8 couples, but usually saved very early in the morning. Chewy is very helpful, you just have to ask him. The rooms are very basic, ours had 2 double beds, on the hard side, with hard pillows. Regular white cotton sheets with a thin blanket. Bathroom had a small vanity, big mirror, good working toilet and a bathtub with shower. Tile and paint could use a fresh coat. There was a TV, however, we never used it. A/C was set at 25 but we had a remote to change it. The bar staff (Yoshi and Shaggy) attended to all our drink needs. If they ran out, they went and got more. Basic liquor, Red Stripe beer on tap, white and red Argentina wine (OK). Made slushy drinks or regular drinks with all the mixes. We tipped once a day.The food buffet was good. Everyday was something a bit different, but I am sure after 7 days it just repeats. Loved the chicken nuggets, burgers and fries that you can order a la carte any time. Everyday there was a DJ who played music. If we thought it was too loud or too quiet he adapted. He played a few silly games @4pm. Each evening we danced, karaoke, or listened to a live band. For the price this met our needs. Remember other all inclusive are 300-1500 more so you get what you pay for. There were many repeat customers who stayed other places and said for the money this is the best value. Thanks to all the hard working staff.
We stayed at Fun Holiday Beach Resort for one week from February 27 to March 6. The rooms are basic but adequate. We had a balcony which looked out onto the water and it was great. Although I probably would not pay extra for that next time as we really didn't use it that much. Also, our room was at the back of the resort and it was very loud at night when the entertainment was on. But the entertainment ended fairly early. Housekeeping does a great job. The staff overall is very hard working and accommodating. We enjoyed the food. The buffet is small and meals were sometimes served late. But most food was tasty, especially the chicken, fish and meat. The beach is perfect! We didn't have a problem getting beach chairs, even when we went late. The pool was good. It was cleaned at least four times while we were there. It did have a few leaves and bugs in it one day. Most of the time, my son and I were the only ones in it. We felt totally safe. We were not bothered at all by any vendors on the beach. If they did approach you and you said No, that was it (in my experience). Even when we walked along the beach, we were not bothered. Overall, I would recommend this resort. As other people have noted, if you are high maintenance or looking for a 4/5 star resort, then this is not the place for you. For what we paid, I feel that it was excellent value. I traveled with my husband and our 5 year old son. There are no children's activities, but he was more than happy with the pool and the beach! We met a taxi driver named Lloyd (876-290-9726). He took us to Rick's Cafe and Mayfield Falls. He was funny, dependable and very kind. Give him some business!
My sister in law and I stayed here from 03/01/17 to 03/08/17. We had read the reviews and didn't go in with very high expectations, but were still disappointed. The Property and RoomThis is a small resort. 45 rooms in two story buildings. The grounds are pretty run down but clean. The 'lobby' is really just a check in desk. The rooms could use some TLC. Our tub was rust stained, and the tub faucet didn't run. The shower worked, and was warm, but pressure was super low. Our toilet clogged on the regular, and we weren't the only ones with this problem. The A/C has one temperature, and that was frigid, no matter how we programmed it. We initially thought there were no blankets for the beds, but we found one (in a two bed room) in the dresser. Also my headboard fell off the wall. Our room was near the road and was quite noisey.WiFiWiFi was resort wide, though was sketchy on the beach, and sometimes lost connection all together- even in the room. The Beach and PoolThe beach is gorgeous. Clean sand, calm waters great for floating and bobbing! There was one day we could't find loungers, and Patrick on the beach wrangled a couple up for us. There was another day we couldn't find loungers or Patrick, so went to the pool. The pool tile is old and stained in spots, and we didn't see a bartender at the pool bar. Yoshi was running back and forth between it and the buffet bar. It was closed more often than not. Drinks were super strong, and if you ask for soda, you get tonic. Vendors on the resort were plentiful, but not aggressive. However, if you walk up the resort, be prepared to be accosted every ten feet or so.Eats and DrinksThe buffet opened at least 15 minutes late- every day, almost every meal. Get there early, or you miss out. If you go all-inclusive, there is an a la carte menu you can ask for but it's still just OK. Very little fresh produce and lean protein. All meats were either fried or tossed together in some kind of hash. Mostly same things every day. Our best meal was up the beach at Alfred's- the fish and chips were amazing! Next time we will spend the same amount for a higher quality resort elsewhere, or pay double to stay at a higher quality resort in Montego Bay- and recommend you do the same.
Our 4th stay here.Constant improvements every time. New TV, better wifi every time we have come. Many guests using broadband level services for phones etc, so some times access is limited. Some even stream Netflix. The beach and water need no improvement. Fantastic.Staff are always ready to assist. No smoking in dining area is now posted and enforced. Mind you some folks can’t read and may need a reminder.Coconut trees planted a few years ago have now grown to provide shade so the beach area is very comfortable. We really like “real” Jamaican food that may a bit challenging for some guests, so we arrange special stuff with the kitchen on occasion. Be sure to include them in your tipping budget. All water is trucked in and very safe. So is the ice. Remember to go easy on the showers.Very few insects or mosquitos.
