Our OpinionIf you are looking for the "lively" vacation that Hedonism resorts are all about, then Hedonism II is the place. A lot of visitors here are repeat clientele.
I've been to Hedo with my boyfriend 3 times so far and plan to visit within the next couple of months. Long story short, the food is awesome; huge varieties. The drinks... well lets just say the bartenders can pretty much whip up anything your taste buds desire. They also have top shelf liquors. There is always something to do. Most resorts I visit, I always find an off site excursion. Not at Hedo! You can totally be yourself, and sometimes someone you thought you'd ever be (in a good way, of course) ;) The only downside is that it's so far from the airport (can range from 1-2 hours depending on traffic and how many people has to be dropped off prior; Hedo is usually the last stop.) Also, the resort is not offered on any of the travel fare sites. Why is that?
I'm writing this review as a thank you for our incredible week we just spent at Hedonism II. The facilities were "on par" with a mid-level resort, with the rooms being spartan but adequate. You can pay considerably more for a more modernized room, but you won't be spending much time in it so it may be a waste.Dining had excellent variety, with a buffet open for every meal, 3 specialty restaurants for dinner, and 2 grills open most hours of the day or night. The food was very healthy, a lot was locally sourced, and carefully and cleanly prepared. In 7 days we didn't eat the same thing twice (unless we wanted to), and we're fairly picky eaters. The staff is where this resort really shined. Everyone from the beach combers to the maid staff to the concierge, security, and dining staff were not just friendly, but seemed like genuinely warm people. They remembered names and preferences, were never intrusive, and could exchange witty banter without "robotic" responses some resorts force on their staff. This more than anything is why we wanted to come back and already booked our next trip.As for activities, most of the day is booked solid by multiple and sometimes competing events which there is no obligation to take part. Groups (see below) often add their own open or closed events to the mix. If you choose not to take part, all the standard things are there to do instead...including eating, various watersports, sunbathing and beachcombing for shells, drinking good cocktails (made with love!), chilling out at the pools, etc.Without the responsibilities of household chores and crushing workloads, your spouse will become an entirely different human being right before your eyes. Be prepared to fall in love again. This alone is worth the price of admission.Advice on booking:Several "groups" exist that tend to book the resort for an entire week, and can be anywhere from a few people to an near complete takeover of the resort. These groups range from adult "frat house party" type groups to hardcore swingers to everything in between and children of all (adult) ages. Its advisable to check up on who will be there for the days you want to book and see if the group aligns with your interests, and if you're very interested, to book the trip through that group so you have full access to all their events. Groups can also be very cliquish, so be prepared to spend a lot of time with your spouse (not a problem!) until the mix changes up as people come and go.More advice:I see a lot of people thinking they'll "get sex" by going there. You'll see it happen at times, but your chances of pulling a random person are about the same (and require the same work) as any typical pub...and probably more difficult by the fact there aren't many other singles there. Single women that want to play with couples will fair better...single men not so much. Also:Wear sunscreen. Sunburned balls itch like hell.
We decided last minute to get married while on vacation after we had already booked and Lorna Brammer was truly amazing!!! She did EVERYTHING and all we had to do was show up and say 'I do'. It was PERFECT
This place is awesome . We have had a blast both times we were there . The staff is great , food is awesome , nightlife is good and there iis always something to do . We have made some great friends there .
This was our first visit to Hedo. We stayed for eight nights and really can't say we suffered from boredom. I will start with the good: nice pools, plenty of beach towels, beautiful location, excellent food, rooms kept very clean. The bad: very old rooms with no balcony, no bath tub only shower, unfriendly staff who didn't even say good morning or evening as they passed by (biggest exception was Austin who made our wonderful omelets every morning), sand on beach was hard, public sex on nude side was in view often. Be sure you have all the toiletries you need because the only ones provided were one bar of soap and shampoo and shower gel in dispensers in the shower. The saving grace of our vacation was the beautiful weather, which Hedo obviously doesn't control and the people staying there which were the friendliest we have ever encountered anywhere. If we had not connected with so many outgoing people, it would not have been a place I would wanted to be at for as long as we were.
