The food is great - the first 3 days. Then you never want to see rice, cabbage, calaloo, or the word "snapper" again. Researched, so knew to bring our own beach towels (which is a pain, btw). Figured the "1 towel/washcloth pp/pd" thing out pretty quick: Take your shower at night! They only brought washcloths 2x - finally asked for them the last night. Didn't change our sheets all week, and they were threadbare. Left $5 and a note the last day asking for clean ones, which we got. Took some old washcloths from home so we'd have extra and just threw them away. Mike, the beach security guard, is the greatest. The lady serving food is super. The beach is unrivaled. It's hot, and everywhere you go is "open air" dining (except Burger King, 2 miles away, which sounded gourmet by Thursday)! You can't beat the location, the place was clean, but it's not 4 Star. Updated linens would go a long way, as would complimentary beach towels. An added salad bar and menu variations and decent desserts would really help the dining - and my star rating. The rooms were basic but clean, and you only sleep there anyway - which is why the updated linens are a must!
My partner and I wanted a quiet relaxing vacation in Jamaica. Legends didn't disappoint. We did not want to visit a small city (read 'big resort'), that would have been impersonal but with all of the bells and whistles you'd expect. We wanted a more laid back and personable experience. We are so pleased to have chosen this place. It felt like a community. Legends feels more like a family run bed and breakfast than a hotel. Our room was on the beach side and had a beautiful view of the ocean. The food is delicious and made in-house: feels like 'mamas' home cooking. You can even make requests for favourite local classics if you know what to ask for. We were glad to have chosen the all-inclusive option. The staff are super friendly and accommodating. The very clean room did not have a lot of extras but was a good size, the mattress was firm, the wifi was boss, and the cable had lots of offerings. We made good use of the balcony. The beach is stunning. Be sure to bring your own beach towels. Careful to watch for some stray jellyfish. We did a snorkelling trip with Adrian (Captain Clarke) to Boob Cay island. It was great! Be sure to buy some patties, fruit and lobsters from the vendors on the beach. If you are not pretentious, and are looking for a sweet laid back vibe, with excellent service, yummy food, right on a gorgeous beach, this is the place for you.
Nice little hotel along the beach, good breakfast. I did not take all inclusive and I think I was right, we stayed for 2 weeks and there was not a lot of variety.I remember the aggressive mosquitoes especially in the morning, be prepared!
Spent our anniversary here. Rooms were nice and rather large. The beach was so wonderful, we cancelled our trip to Kingston and stayed in Negril an extra three days. There are several restaurants within walking distance of both Samsara and Legends Beach. All the staff at both locations was extremely nice and helpful. Security was amazing. We didn't do the all inclusive and choose to eat local. Spent a couple of nights at their sister resort Samsara which was also very nice. I don't normally write reviews, but this place was worth a glowing review. Planning on going back next year.
The best thing about this resort is the beach. We picked it because we wanted to be on the beach and it certainly delivered in that aspect. We spent most days on chaises under umbrellas or in the ocean. Lovely. The staff was also outstanding; very friendly, outgoing, and helpful. I would not recommend an all inclusive stay. My husband and I did not find the food to be all that good; in fact, despite being all-inclusive, we ate out for 3 of our 5 nights there. Alcohol was also limited to mostly rum drinks, Red Stripe, and not much else. Even a glass of wine had an upcharge, and service stopped at 10pm. The facility was small, a bit run down, but not bad. Maintenance crew worked hard keeping walkways and beach clean. Area across the street (Gardenside) was very run down; there was a game room in disrepair that no one could use. There was entertainment advertised 2 days each week, it was the same local band both times, playing folk type music through the dinner hour; again stopping by 10pm. If you are looking for night life this is not the place for you. We found ourselves going to bed early due to lack of anything to do. We walked the beach once or twice at night, but the vendors stalk you. The room was fairly clean; AC worked well, shower had hot water. Free internet did not work in our room, but usually we could access from the balcony. Bed was firm. Sheets were never changed during our 5 day stay. Towels are sometime hard to come by; and be sure to bring your own beach towels, they do not offer any. The day we spent at Samsara was very nice. The resort seems a bit more updated and the view is incredible. There is no beach there, but you can jump off the cliff areas or climb down a ladder. We went to Ciao Jamaica across the street from Samsara for a lovely dinner; they will give you a free shuttle back to Legends from the restaurant. We also had a fantastic meal at Kumbaya's right next door to Legend's (on the beach). If you want an excursion, I would not recommend booking through the front office. They have someone come in from an outside agency to arrange trips. We had an appt to meet this person at 11:00 one day; we went to the office and waited an hr for someone to show up. We booked our trip for the following day...and our van was late picking us up. Spent another hr waiting then. Didn't really appreciate wasting valuable vacation time on miscommunication. We finally reached the excursion vendor who told us he made an error w/our pickup time; but we were not offered any discount or compensation for our wasted time. In closing, this was not quite the vacation I had anticipated, but for some folks,it may be the perfect place.
