Legends Beach Resort
- What's Included
- All Inclusive Features
This falls in the category of 3* = 2* in parts of the world. Still, I would go back and recommend it. It was very clean and quiet. We thought about staying on the beach side of the hotel, but ended up happier on the road side, because it was quieter. The trick is to be near the pool. The restaurant is kind of average. The food at Koyuba next door was better. Staff was kind, courteous and professional.
We booked a trip to Negril last minute and there were some great deals to stay at Legends. We knew that we were getting a 3-4 star experience, not a luxury resort, but that is what we were looking for. We didn't opt for the all inclusive plan because we love to have a choice of what to eat, where to eat and when to eat. We didn't regret our decision. Our room was #310. It was on the beach side and on the main floor. Originally I was hoping for a 2nd floor room and a king-size bed, but instead we got main floor and two double beds. The first night we were a bit weary of the location as there is a bar a couple doors down and they play music til quite late, but after the first night, we got used to it. I am so glad we kept our room, as it was the closest to the beach, the restaurant/bar and we basically had our own private pool next to us. The beds weren't the most comfy ever, but they weren't horrible either. The water pressure was a bit wonky, but there was always hot water. The housekeepers did an awesome job making our beds and bringing fresh towels etc. every day. We LOVED our main floor veranda area. You could sit there during one of the frequent afternoon downpours and have a beer without getting wet. It was also a very social place, as it enabled you to meet everyone that walked by if you so desired. The WiFi was also very reliable on the beachside and on the beach. We ate at the restaurant quite a few times, but a la carte selections. The jerk chicken dinner was quite good, as were their omelettes. We spent quite a few meals at the resort next door (Kubaya) since their food was very delicious and it was literally NEXT door. The staff at Legends were all SO NICE!! Their service is impeccable and they are the friendliest staff at a hotel I've encountered yet. Could not rave about the staff more at Legends... just fantastic. We had a fabulous last night with Shaney and Shadae in the restaurant - such wonderful ladies! The beach was fantastic. The water was so warm and Michael the security guy kept most of the beach vendors away from you. Be prepared that there are drug dealers that stand at the perimeter, but they are harmless and if you say politely "no thanks" they will respect that and still be friendly to you. The fruit lady comes by and sells papayas, mangoes, bananas, pineapple etc., which is nice as she cuts it up for you. The patties on the beach were also yummy. Overall, if you're looking for a beach vacation that doesn't cost and arm and a leg, and if you like to explore the town and try new restaurants, then this is the place for you. There is also a mall across the street with souvenirs, and a corner store about 2 min away that sells beer and rum and snacks. The jerk chicken on the street is really delicious and so are the patties at the place near Sunrise (about 3 min walk). I highly recommend Legends for those who want to experience more of the real Jamaica.
My Husband And I had a great vacation for 8 wonderful relaxing days At Legends From April 17th thru April 25th.Our room was very basic but clean and had everything we needed to be comfortable. No hairdryers or coffee pot in room,But coffee was available all day right behind the bar.My husband filled up two big bubba mugs for us every morning and brought back to our room,We enjoyed that first big mug of fresh tasty coffee on our small balcony before getting ready for breakfast. We stayed Beachside And we were very glad we made that choice. We loved that Legends was small and we Had the opportunity to get to know some of the guests and most of the Staff.Shannai at the bar was so nice to talk to,She also Served us 1,000 little cups of beer and lots of refreshing mixed drinks throughout the week with a smile.Jennifer was also pleasant and sweet and served us even more cold refreshing drinks. If I missed anyone I just want to say we did not encounter Any rude staff,They All did there jobs well and with a good attitude.Latoy"Toy" was a great dancer and a considerate Speedy waitress too!!Anna,You and toy gave us lots of laughs during our vacation and we enjoyed all the lunch and dinner conversations too! Giovanni,Kim,Kameka And Wendy,You all do An exceptional job.And We are Very grateful for your quick & Courteous Service. You all are the ones who made our vacation special!! Kendrick,It was very evident,You do your Job well,We also enjoyed seeing and talking with you daily.Michael,Thank you so very much for the beach chairs, umbrellas and everything we needed to make the beach Comfy and fun! Jean And Elorine,I cannot thank you enough for all the Delicious food you Served us for 8 days,And Always with a smile! The people who work here,Work Hard and do their jobs well,Which made our vacation so Wonderful.Even Leonard the gardner Talked with us every day and showed us some Jamaican fruit that we had never before seen. I just want to say a few things about the resort and hope this helps you make the right decision for staying at Legends. The rooms are far from fancy, very basic,But cleaned daily, hot shower decent beds,Nice little balcony,no extras,If you are counting on a luxury room, with lots of Amenities,DO NOT stay here,You will be disappointed. The food is mostly good,With very few selections, but varied each day and we were satisfied most days and a few days at dinner we were a little disappointed.A few lunches were exceptional,Wings and fried chicken were delicious, fried and baked fish was also tasty.I enjoyed some Jamaican Dishes I never had before,Callaloo at breakfast,And also Breafast dumplings were my hubbys favorite. If you want a big Variety of food,With Lots of selections,You will not find that here.We were content with the food, especially breakfast and lunch. We planned on eating off resort a few meals,But never did, with the exception of having dinner at Samsara, once. The beach is small and the chairs were spaced very close together,Sometimes you could not get in between them to walk to the water,You had to walk to the far left or right and go around them.I knew this before booking,So I was not surprised, the water was beautiful and clean and blue,We took an inflatable inner tube and floated in the water daily for long periods of time,It was relaxing and fun. The drink menu was available at the bar for all inclusive guests,Six trips to Jamaica and this was the first place that had ting soda available at the bar,it is delicious, especialy with appleton rum added to it.I loved another mixed drink with rum ting and lime ,I cannot remember the name of it.We especialy liked the draft Red stripe ALWAYS ice cold and refreshing!!No top shelf liquor,If you need that do NOT Book A Vacation at Legends. After Dinner,Mostly no entertainment and nothing to do,we were advised not to walk the beach at night,We were not comfortable walking the sidewalk at night either,Although I read that was the safe choice. So keep this in mind We retired early most evenings and watched a little TV,We were tired anyway and Enjoyed long walks on the beach almost every morning,We really enjoyed our morning walks,Just say NO THANK YOU ALOT TO THE LOCALS. A word of Caution! There is one Jamaican guy on the beach And back sidewalk behind the resort,That tries to show you first the fist bump elbow bump ,and then tries to tie a bracelet on you and charge you,He got very nasty with us when we refused the bracelet,Do not allow the bracelet to be tied on if you are not prepared to Pay.He is Tall thin and has spiked hair,He also can be found riding a gray scooter on sidewalk outside of resort.just Beware of him,He is the Only nasy encounter that we had. All other vendors accepted No thank you if we were not interested. I hope this review helps you determine if Legends Is the right resort for you.We Had a very memorable vacation.THANK YOU TO LEGEND BEACH RESORT AND ALL THE GREAT STAFF!!!! LEON AND KATHY FROM PENNSYLVANIA
Legends was the sister hotel to Samsara on the Cliffs were we stayed. We were able to go to this property at anytime for $5 each way or there was a shuttle daily at 10am there and 4pm back if you chose. This property was nice. The food was good as well as the drinks, we had the all inclusive package. The dining and bar area was spacious and seemed to be accommodating to the guests. I cant speak for the rooms but from what I could see from the people leaving the doors open, they looked decent. The grounds were kept up really nice. The only thing that was a draw back, was the their beach area was small and the lounge chairs were very close to one another...could not spread out
Take my review with a grain of salt since I visited during the day from Samara and I have some mobilty issues. The place is very small and the beach is very cramped. I'm familiar with Hedo which has a smooth beach and very calm water. I was hoping the beach was similar but the water is rougher making the beach have berms to walk through. While it probably won't bother most people I found it a complicated. Like Samsara their furniture is uncomfortable and some of the few beach loungers are broken. We tried the pool which was empty. It wasn't bad but could use a little shade. On a budget its probably not bad if you aren't and old fart like me.
