Great Folks at Rooms on the Beach but disappointed

Visited ROOMS last week on a trip to Negril as I was staying in Montego Bay to see the staff because I missed the ROOMS staff and Negril's beach. And I remembered that I did not review ROOMS last year when I stayed. Aside from the newly renovated rooms and well maintained grounds and housekeeping the staff made the experience great. I feel that the pond/fountain leading into the resort could be updated and cleaned (minor detail).If you are a bit of a gym rat like I am. The gym was clean and cool. One tread mill wasn't working but front desk was made aware. The gym was a huge step up for me since I was only in Mexico that prior March and that hotel's gym was awful. Close to the beach and sea. Security was also great. Dixon, Matthew, Jason and Hector was some of the best and we felt safe. I travelled with my mom and had an uncle come and stay us in which we paid for a room for him for 3 nights.They could only rent a room one night at a time which was a little frustrating but we understood since this was last minute. We also requested that our room have 2 beds and not one queen when we first arrived. In fact, that was a request we made when we booked the reservation with our provider and ROOMS explained that they would do their best to accomodate us. We let it got for the first half of the week. So, in our opinion since we booked 3 extra nights for my uncle at different rates, per night due to availability and the type of room. We at least expected the manager who I believe her name is Serri-yan to at least try to accomodate or look into a room for the second half of our trip that had two beds. We spoke to her and she didn't even seem to want to be concerned wtih our request to upgrade despite us paying for 2 rooms for three nights. Her first and only answer was "no" with no real explaination. We felt slighted because we spent at the bar and the dining hall as well. Although, ROOMS is a great hotel with amazing staff because of this incident I am not interested in staying again. A special thanks to Kelvin at the bar who was always serving with a smile. The ladies at the main dining deck Tenesha, Anakay, Mazie and Velma. Actually all dining staff were lovely but these ladies stood out. The food was tasty. Loved the sweet potato pudding. Good job chef! The wonderful vendors who were selling souvenirs were lovely and front desk was very professional. The lifeguards were also very good. As I stated before I went to visit some staff this year and was sad to hear that some of the security was gone and Anakay as well. These folks made a wonderful experience for my mom and me. Hope our experience provided some help in making your decision.

Rooms on the Beach

Just got back from Rooms on the Beach after a 2nd stay in 3 months!Came down for New Years Eve with friends and had such a great time we just had to come back again!We were back the week of Apr.4 to Apr.11 So happy to see everyone again and so impressed that they all remembered us!Such wonderful staff there fromTaniesha at front desk to wonderful Sylvester!Oneil Chris and mario who set up our lounge chairs every day on the beach!Felma at the restaurant who fixed our breakfast every day!My housekeeper Chermaine.All amazing people!Any time I want to come back to the beach it will always be Rooms on the Beach!!!!Just an amazing experience!!!!Lov you Rooms!

Good value & no frills

We read the reviews so we knew what to expect. Lovely resort with lots of beach chairs and lots of room. We had no issues with water temp or pressure. Our room was on the ground floor and we had no break-ins or unwanted visitors. Staff were kind. We called ahead of time & asked for a fridge but they didn't have any available. The rooster just made us laugh since we had read that it had "ruined" a vacation. He does sound kind of maniacal however and crows at various times throughout the day and night. It's Negril...relax! Only complaints would be the breakfast was not spectacular and they don't have any extra pillows.

Perfect for a Getaway!

We enjoyed our stay at Rooms and would recommend this hotel to anyone who just wants to relax! The rooms are clean, the staff are very friendly and accommodating and the view is absolutely breathtaking! The sunsets are always an event. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be back in the future!

Great spot!

This was our first experience at a non all-inclusive and it won't be our last. Airport transfer was quick, stopped in Lucea for rest stop along the way (beer was not cheap at this place). Check-in at the hotel was quick and efficient. We had an ocean front room which contributed to making our stay most enjoyable as we could keep our beer, and wine cold and use our own washroom during the dayRooms: clean, comfortable bed, could use fluffier pillows. Our air conditioner leaked so one day discovered my clothes in my luggage were wet and the room was starting to develop a musty smell - I simply took the whole suitcase on the deck and let the sun take care of it, no problem. The problem was reported but not rectified. Our safe had no lock but Denis the maintenance man took care of this quickly. What a great guy, respectable, hard working and sincere. Bring your own toiletries as the hotel provides small soap only. Towels and face cloths are provided, you also are assigned beach towel that you can exchange during your stay. Staff: Everyone we interacted with were wonderful, the front desk staff, the restaurant staff, the bartenders, the security staff, the life guards, the maintenance guy, the ground keepers - all met or exceeded our expectations. The hotel manager Seina is delightful, she is a beautiful woman that is always professional, you can tell she cares about her staff and ensuring her guests have the best stay possible. Special kudos to Junior, Mario, Denis, and O'Neil for your customer service and for taking the time to answer many of our questions. We also noted that everyone went above and beyond to assist hotel guests. Beach: great location, middle of the 7 mile beach, plenty of resto and bars both on beach and roadside within walking distance. The beach does not get better than this. There are no palapas on the beach so most people stay inside the wall to find shade. The loungers are in very good condition but the umbrellas show lots of wear and tear. The only negative about the beach is due to tourists who leave cigarette buffs and roaches all over the beach :(. Have respect Mon! Food: Rooms offer complimentary breakfast that includes hard boiled egg, cold cereals and milk, toast and jam, a few pieces of fruit, a choice of pastry (muffin or banana bread) and sometimes yogourt - you can also order from the menu at reasonable prices. We had lunch at Rooms a few times and it was excellent, good portions at very good prices - recommend the burger, the quesadilla, and the salads. Lots of options on the menu and everything looked very good. Bar: not sure why they don't offer the same price as the little bar next door - Rooms charge 250 for a beer and the little bar to the left charges 200 Ja - we noted that everyone was bringing their business next door. :(. Highlights of this hotel: staff, beach, location, cleanliness, serviceOpportunities for this hotel: new umbrellas, better pillows, a fridge in every room (more important then a TV!)We will definitely return!
