The powder-white sand and turquoise water's of Jamaica are awaiting you at the Sandals Negril Beach Resort & Spa, only steps away from the activity of your choice. But the most awesome feature of all is the beauty of the Negril sun sinking below the horizon to signal the end of another day in paradise.
Location: On Negril's famous 7-mile beach, 10 min drive to the town of Negril, 90 min away from the airport.
This was the first Sandals that we have visited and we enjoyed our time at the resort. We found the staff to be very helpful and cheerful at all times. We stayed five nights and that seemed about right. Any more than five nights would have become a bit tiresome since we already experienced much of what the resort offered in those five days. Our room was on the second floor looking out over the water and we enjoyed the view and the room. We took full advantage of the water sports. While the beach swimming area is pretty limited, we really enjoyed snorkeling, snuba, water skiing, and sailing (we understand the scuba diving was also good, but we were not certified – snuba is the next best thing). We were disappointed to find that the only kayak offered at the resort was a two-person model (no singles) and it had no back support. As for trips, we took the catamaran that provided a snorkeling opportunity (into caves) and then to Ricks –allowing an opportunity for anyone that wanted to jump off the cliff to swim over to Ricks and partake in the cliff diving. The only negative comment that we have on booking excursions at the resort was with the travel booking desk. While the staff was pleasant, they were not forthcoming with details – as such we were caught surprised on just about everything we booked through them. One example is that we booked the catamaran and a separate vehicle trip to Ricks at the same time and they made no mention that the catamaran was going to Ricks as well (by the way, don’t go to Ricks by ground –that is a waste of time, go with the catamaran). As for meals, while we would agree with many reviewers that most of the dinners were generally average, we did like that there was a variance in cuisine offered. Our favorite restaurants for dinner was Bayside (ask for Sashelle , she did a great job) followed by the Barefoot (if you like seafood). We are still not sure why the Italian restaurant needed reservations –there were several open tables when we dined there. The Bistro served a fine lunch and the breakfast buffet was fine (not sure why some complained about that offering).Odds and ends.We were very disappointed with the wireless. It was spotty at best and I was unable to download my newspapers. We had no problem with the free transport to and from the airport -- I can’t imagine a hired car would be any great advantage. I echo those that used Mobly –they escorted us through the airport process coming and going. As for those that say you don’t need it on the way back, I have to disagree. While getting processed quickly was nice, the real advantage was staying in the Mobly Club while awaiting our flight. We had a relaxing time and an excellent lunch as part of the package –worth the minimal cost.
Sandals Negril was perfect for us! We aren't the type who like to just sit around all day so Sandals was the place to be. We decided to spend the $1000 to get PADI Scuba Certified and it was worth every penny. The dive team at Sandals Negril was so welcoming and they are so happy for you to be there with them. We went to a different dive site everyday and each of them were so beautiful! We also made friends with a photograher- Jeffery. We have kept in touch with him after we left and hope to visit Negril again soon. As far as the all inclusive food, drinks and activities everything was top of the line. The resort is focused on romance and every restaurant is positioned perfectly for a beautiful sunset. We even walked down to the Beaches resort one day to try out a different lunch option- they have a mexican place! The walk was about 30 minutes and it was safe! Overall Sandals Negril was easily one of the best vacations we have been on!
We recently stayed at Sandals Negril in an oceanfront suite (chose the top floor instead of the ground floor). The weather the entire trip was definitely an 'other' as we saw sun for a total of about 3 hours in 5 days. Despite the undesirable weather, the pools and food were excellent. A heads up to future travelers, the first day you get to the resort set up dinner reservations (highly recommend the Italian) as the good times fill up fast. Everything is generally included with the all inclusive except wine at dinner. The aqua sports were fun and very easy to rent with little to no waits. If you aren't into scuba like us, at least go snorkeling. It is a total of one hour and was an absolute blast. Room service is part of the all inclusive but seemed to take an average of one hour each time we ordered, even just for 2 desserts or 2 sandwiches. Breakfast buffet is amazing!Bartenders Nicholas and Marilyn were terrific and photographer Dale was very professional and took awesome shots. The photos are rather pricy (~$15 per photo on a CD) but if you consider the effort they put in to taking a ton of shots of you to chose from it was def. worth it. Even with bad weather, we had a lot of fun.
My husband broke his ankle 6 hours into our honeymoon which sucked but we still made the best if it. The staff was amazing, we still had an awesome time just couldn't leave the resort or do any water activities but he has promised me another honeymoon so I'm hoping we will be back next May to Negril or Barbados
Our room was perfect and perfectly located for diving. We had a 2 level room with a soaking tub on the 2nd floor balcony. We enjoyed the ocean view. We could see the ocean, the boats and the main pool. Our butlers, Sean and Denoto were wonderful. They made all of our dinner reservations, set up our standing breakfast service (in our room-early before we dove). Every morning they set up our lounge chairs on the beach, close to our room. The cooler had water and beer in it (and diet coke, once they realized I liked it). We were able to relax between dives on our lounge chairs and grab a drink from our cooler. Once we were back from diving, they served us lunch on the beach and make sure we had enough to drink. Ask both butlers for their specialty drinks-they were wonderful. They checked on us throughout the day to make sure we had everything we needed. Additionally, they were never more than a phone call away. My husband asked for 12 year rum for our room-which was delivered. Each afternoon, they brought us a cheese tray and a snack. We also had wine, beer and spirits in our room- exactly what we asked for. They even had a bottle of champagne waiting for us. It truly was a worry free vacation-every night we ate in a great restaurant. (the special reserved tables by our butler had flowers on them). The dive team was amazing. Cleon, Captain Hook, Sanjay, Josh, Wayne and Jeffery all made sure we had great, safe dives. They made sure we knew the safety procedures of the boat and followed good diving practices. While we were there, we expanded our diving certification by becoming advanced open water certified. Josh was a great instructor and dive master. He explained what we needed to do and made sure we had mastered the skills. If you'd like to do this on your trip, I highly recommend it The course work isn't hard nor time consuming. In particular, Josh helped us with the navigation section and now I am confident I could find my way back to the boat and around a reef using a compass. We went down 102 feet (the deepest we've been) and now we are ready to go another step further on our next trip. They took us to the deep plane wreck-which was really cool, a tug boat wreck and beautiful reefs. We saw turtles on 3 of our first 4 dives. Jeffery, a professional photographer, took pictures of us while we were diving. I have a priceless picture of me and a sea turtle. My husband needed his blood pressure checked every day before he could dive-the nurse, Monicah went above and beyond by going into work 10 minutes early so my husband could have his blood pressure taken and make it to the dive boat in time.Everyone was polite and interested in making sure you had a great time. The service at all the restaurants was exceptional as was the food. We tried each restaurant and then went back to our favorite,Barefoot on the beach. Paulette greeted us and our Butler with a smile and a welcoming demeanor. She checked back in on us and made sure we were enjoying ourselves. Delford entertained us by bringing a bottle of wine to the table on his head. The food was delicious. We tried things we've never tried before and always left satisfied. All in all we couldn't have asked for a better vacation. We would come back here.
