The powder-white sand and turquoise water's of Jamaica are awaiting you at the Sandals Negril Beach Resort & Spa, only steps away from the activity of your choice. But the most awesome feature of all is the beauty of the Negril sun sinking below the horizon to signal the end of another day in paradise.
Location: On Negril's famous 7-mile beach, 10 min drive to the town of Negril, 90 min away from the airport.
I'll be quick here...This was our third Sandals experience and our second trip to Sandals Negril. Our first time was in 2013. We stayed in the same honeymoon butler suite. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the room whatsoever, but I do hope the renovations hit these buildings next. The updates on the other buildings looked fantastic. Service: A+++. The service was as outstanding as the first time. Superstar List from this trip:- Myron and Niesha the butlers.. these two are TOP NOTCH.- DONOVAN AT BAREFOOT... Sandals- if you are reading this - you have a superstar in the making with this young man. He was so attentive, eager to learn his role, and friendly. - Dwayne on the IR Catamaran cruise - if he ever came to the States, this dude is welcome in my home ANY day!- Kyesha (sp?) - the daytime hostess at the Bayside Restaraunt - Phillip, Wayne, Breaker, Emran, and the rest of the Sandals Dive Team. (We miss you Kemar)- Chris at the beach bar, the rest of the staff is great there but the rum didn't allow me to retain their name :(Side note: It's funny to me when I see people on here complaining that EVERY SINGLE EMPLOYEE from maintenance to management did not bow at their feet and yell "Welcome to Jamaica" with a beaming smile on their face. Sure, there are a few that aren't as chipper as some of the other staff but they are humans with personalities, children, families, bills/debt, illnesses, etc..yet there they are working to make your vacation better. Cut them some slack every now and then. I know I'm not a beaming ray of sunshine every single day at work. Atmosphere: A. Laid back. The resort is festive but if you're looking for a raging party scene, this isn't the spot. I'm thankful for that. Food: B. Some really bright spots in Kimono and the Italian restaurant. Everything else is fine. Nothing to write home about, certainly nothing bad! Plenty of options. If you are on a culinary vacation, you should probably point your compass northeast towards Europe. Activites: A. Plenty to do whether it's relaxing, diving, snorkeling, skiing, etc.I will continue to reccomend this place to anyone, anytime.
First review ever written. Needed to express our thanks and appreciation to the staff of this resort. Resort backing on a busy and noisy highway., unfortunate for this resort. Constant peddlers on the beach. Not enough dinner restaurant choices since two of them are reservation only and reservation spaces are far and few. Ocean beautiful to look at but very few areas clean of seaweed for wading and swimming. The only saving grace to making our holiday were the incredible staff. Let's start with Barefoot on the Beach, Pauline can't say enough about your kindness and attention. She on her own arranged with the chefs to prepare for us crab cakes. This was not a usual item on the menu. Her delight in presenting us this treat was heart felt, the chefs even came to our table to make sure we were pleased, what can we say but WOW, again thank you Pauline you made our stay and day. Also with Pauline we have to mention delightful Sandia, Terry-Ann, Rushell and of course Julene our Barefoot on the Beach gals. Also a big hello and thank you to Tovia. Tavena and Sashelle, we miss you. Keron we will never look at an almond the same again and thank you for the lovely pictures they are our keepsakes. Kim keep on trucking you are an amazing entertainer and the happiest person. If it wasn't for the staff at this resort our holiday would have no good memories. Hope the Sandels establishment realize how important the staff are and make make note that they are what keeps this resort doors still open.
Very pleasant place to be. Quiet fun place. Plenty to do at the resort, walk the beach, lay in the sun. Food was wonderful!! The entertainment was great! Our favorite was meeting Marilyn on the beach who brought us beach drinks. A very pleasant lady. Very attentive to your needs. We also had Cleveland who did our dinner on the beach. Wonderful experience with him. He did his job with perfection. Everyone in this resort made you feel welcome very friendly resort!! We will be back!!
We stayed at Sandals Negril for just 3 nights. We arrived on my birthday. I couldn't wait to see what special thing they would do (luxury included) since they asked if we were celebrating something special in the online registration we had to fill out **3 different times. We had stayed at Sandals Grande St. Lucia for our anniversary and our room was decorated (although we had a butler that time). No one did anything here.. Not a big deal. But the RIU Negril, (a resort down the beach- a third of the price where we also stayed three nights) .sang happy birthday to me during check in and sent up 2 bottles of rum. This resort is small, a little dated, very quiet and to me the average age was 65 and up. We're active mid 40's. We found a few couples our age that made it more fun at the pool bar and piano bar. Let's talk about the pool bar. It was dead! Why not play music from 11am on? There is a separate quiet pool, so the pool bar pool should be more fun. It did get busier when we gathered people to play pool volleyball. We wanted to play pool volleyball earlier...but only a staffer could put up the net...so we had to wait until 3pm. I think if there's a crowd that wants to play we should be allowed since it's our vacation. Most of the time there was only 1 bartender taking care of pool bar...and upper pool bar guests. We waited 10 minutes for a drink once. They definitely need to staff more bartenders. This was probably my biggest complaint. The RIU has 5 to 6 bartenders who make fun drinks. We are pool people and love the fun atmosphere they provide. This pool was boring and understaffed and didn't have to be.DINING-I had read about Kenya at Bayside and she did not disappoint. She is a lovely person who makes your breakfast and lunch more enjoyable. She had weekends off so we only got to see her on one day. The breakfast was just OK. The waffle batter was terrible. I had one freshly made and it was thick, hard and tasteless. The lunch was nice, but it doesn't open until 12:30. It would be nice if it opened at noon. The only place Sandals does better than RIU is for dinner if you like ala carte restaurants. But, RIU's buffets are great, too.One thing I really like about Sandals is the snack restaurants. It's nice to get a homemade pizza whenever you want it. The beach grill is also nice-good jerk chicken, burgers,etc...and there's a beach bar right around the corner. It's nice to have these options during the off times.Kimonos is fun and the food is pretty good. We were excited we got an Asian chef...but all he did is throw the salt and pepper shakers around a few times.. The Jamaican chef at the other table was really entertaining and we wished we would have had him. Bayside at night was the highlight of our trip. We sat outside with candlelight. I had lobster and my husband had chicken cordon bleu. The creme brulee rocked. It was a really nice, tasty, and quiet dinner for our last night.DRINKSGood...bartenders (except for the pool bar) were fun. They have name brand liquor. One thing to note... you don't get alcohol in room in the lower priced rooms. We didn't care...we had soda and water and that was fine. But, many all-inclusives (including the RIUs) have minibars...so you might be surprised.ROOMSWe had the lowest level of the resort rooms which meant no view, no mini bar, no room service. We didn't care. It was fine. But, the more you pay the more you get. The room was decorated tastefully modern. We had nice Red Lane shampoos, etc... There is a safe, blow dryer and ironing board. Some people complained about not having a butler and not getting service, but we didn't find that to be the case.BEACHIt was nice to walk to Margaritaville about 3 miles down and stop at Beaches for a drink. I like that resort better (minus the kids) because it is newer and larger. The beach was nothing to write home about. I had heard so much about 7 mile beach, Water was pretty...but few palm trees or any trees. Just man made palapas. I think the beaches in Punta Cana are much nicer.NIGHTLIFEQuiet. I didn't even know there were any shows. If you want a more lively group...go to the piano bar. That was fun. It's quieter in the lobby and the beach bar. WATER SPORTSWe did really have fun on the Big Mama raft pulled by a boat although the guy in charge of it wouldn't even answer our questions of when it was running and how to sign up. Another couple finally flagged us down so we could go on it. There is also snorkeling and scuba included.OVERALLI think most people pay for the Sandals name. I will say the ala carte restaurants and snack places are nice. And if you want a quiet, relaxing vacation at a spendy price. This is for you. It was nice. But, we were happy to move just down the street to the RIU for a more fun atmosphere with friendlier staff. Even lawn service and maids at the RIU made it a point to say hello and ask how we were just walking on the path. The food was just as good at the RIU and again...it was a third of the price. It all depends on what you're looking for and how much you want to spend. People worth mentioning. Kendra, O'Shane, Yashon, Tafari, and 2 Romaines. They made a point to go above and beyond.
I decided to book this trip for my honeymoon following my New Orleans French Quarter wedding 03/19/17. From our arrival to our departure we had a fabulous time and every day it seemed like we woke up in paradise. We had a butler level 2 story honeymoon suite with the soaker tub. Our room was booked from 03/20 - 03-25/17 room 3207. That suite was amazing. We enjoyed many things while in Negril at your resort starting with our favorite photographer TIGI who always captured every special moment of my wife and I which made it hard to decide which ones to purchase at the end. Soon after we met Ian whom was always extremely sweet at the grill as a server. We found entertainment rather quickly and we were entertained our first night at the piano bar with Alex and Wykeem spinning some great dance tunes. As the week moved on we were entertained with more great people including the wonderful Chrystal and Kimberly who both sang phenomenal. Alex once again showed us his awesome dance moves. We often ran into each of the people mentioned above several times and each time whether it was Alex, Wykeem, Kimberly, Chrystal, or TIGI we were treated amazing and we both can't wait to return to your resort once again!!!!
