The powder-white sand and turquoise water's of Jamaica are awaiting you at the Sandals Negril Beach Resort & Spa, only steps away from the activity of your choice. But the most awesome feature of all is the beauty of the Negril sun sinking below the horizon to signal the end of another day in paradise.
Location: On Negril's famous 7-mile beach, 10 min drive to the town of Negril, 90 min away from the airport.
Kendra was always attentive. We have been going to Sandals, Negril for many years and Kendra remembered where we liked to sit at breakfast. She has so much energy and always has a beautiful smile on her face for everyone with whom she comes into contact. Each year I look for her, for her hug.
Bayside Restaurant at Sandals Resort Negril offers stunning beachside views! The meals are fresh and the variety is amazing! The staff is attentive but not hovering. Kendra greets you with a smile every morning, and is inquisitive about your day - always a bright spot to our morning!
My wife and I just returned from a week stay at Sandals Negril. As I've told many people since, it was the holiday where anything that could've gone wrong didn't, and everything that could've gone right went incredible. The weather was incredible - not a drop of rain and only one afternoon of cloud. The weather reports for Negril typically call for rain but they aren't accurate because it's near the mountains and Negril spreads across a fair distance. The one afternoon it was cloudy and supposed to rain, it didn't, although we know from others that it did just 40 min (walk) down the beach at Beaches Negril. The days were beautiful and the evenings were perfectly comfortable. We were in Ocho Rios in early October 2016 and the nights were ridiculously humid. Not so in Negril, perhaps because it sits right on the open water. The beach is long and gorgeous. You can walk a long way and feel very safe. Best part - you are fully exposed to an expanse of water, which is wonderful whether you want to play (Hobie Cats, SUP or kayak) or walk or watch the sunset. Here's a tip I was lucky enough to figure out before our last evening: you can see the sun set on the water perfectly on the west side of the resort (by Sundowner and Barefoot by the Sea). The shape of the beach at this resort is a bit of a crescent, so at the other end towards Cucina Romano, the sun sets behind the island or the tip of the point. No matter where you are, there is beach, plenty of clean ocean, sun and sunsets. I just can't say enough about the beach area, and it's the reason why the pools are so small - because most people will want to be on the beach. And there are plenty of beach chairs - I never saw all of them being used. The food was excellent, even the buffet (and my friends often joke that I've missed my calling as a food critic). We had the curried mutton and beef tenderloin at Sundowner - so good. Cucina Romano was our favourite - best Alfredo I've had in ages. Not too much sauce, not too heavy, and wonderful taste. And since we got to know the staff, the manager Nicky went above and beyond for dinner on our last night and brought in the desserts we wanted to try from Barefoot (which we didn't actually eat at because my wife is not a fan of seafood). And theses desserts were so incredible, particularly the apple tort and vanilla ice cream - so rich and enjoyable. Our butlers, Theda and Basil J., made sure we didn't want for anything and left wonderful surprises in our room (like the disco light show). As noted, Nicky, Renardo and Michele at Cucina went above and beyond every time. TG took incredible photos and Martin gave us the best candid shots from our first night there. Keith the bartender had the friendliest smile and conversation, and Chris ("Needle") and Gary ("Mudslide") were the entertaining pair on our snorkelling trips (comic relief added to the beautiful underwater sights. Trisha with Sandals Loyalty stayed late and worked hard to help us with options for a future trip. Finally, if you like to sing (or pretend you can sing), Paul the piano player at the Piano Bar was unbelievable. The biggest, happiest smile and so talented.I will note that the place was pretty quiet by 10pm, but we made our own entertainment and had plenty of fun. So, if you're looking for a party atmosphere at night, this isn't the place (which is fine with us - we'd rather visit at the bar or at the fire pit with people we meet without having to talk over loud music).Last tip: if you don't want to do the 90-120 minute weaving drive from Montego Bay to Negril, TimAir (just look it up online) provides flights for $125-$150/person (depending on the number of people on the flight, max 5) in a small prop plane that lands on the airstrip directly across the road from the resort (about a 2 minutes cab ride). It's a 15 minute scenic flight in a small plane with a very competent pilot. We did this going back to MoBay and would do it again. I can only hope you enjoy your trip to Sandals Negril as much as we did. Absolutely magical.
This was my first time at a Sandals. Overall it was good but not worth the money. Things were a little run down and needed maintenance. The room desperately needed a new rug and some work in shower. The food was good for an all inclusive resort but the service was very inconsistent. Some people were so friendly and helpful like Savoy. Some people were rude like the bartenders and the big lady at the pizza window. One thing that was extremely annoying was the photographers that were constantly hounding you to do pictures, they were very pushy and did not understand the words "no thank you". The guys at the aqua center were a blast especially Gerrie and Big Papa.
We had a fabulous time celebrating my sister's 40th birthday at Sandals Nigril. I highly recommend the butler rooms. It was fabulous to have someone stake out the perfect beach spot early in the morning and have drinks and snacks at the ready all day. Theta made some clutch popcorn runs! I have celiac disease and the resort was very accomodating. We enjoyed the water aerobics and the gym was adequate. The beaches are beautiful and well maintained. Be warned, you will be solicited often. We did a day excursion with the Chukka tours to zipline, tube and ATV. It wasn't worth a whole day away from the beach. Go ont he booze cruise to Rick's Cafe instead. We were sorry we missed that! ALSO: The daily raft rides are a hoot! It's like a floating mattress they pull out on a speedboat. I couldn't stop giggling like a child! Skip the glass bottom boat tour. The captain is cranky and harsh. Go to Kimono for a laugh. Our singing chef was unlike anyone we've had in the States. Love the peacock at breakfast. Service was a bit slow and not all of the servers were friendly, but there are certainly a few gems. We missed most of the entertainment because we had later dinners, but there are nightly shows. We would go back.
