Sandy Haven Resort
- What's Included
Came for a weekend with 2 girlfriends to run the Reggae Run. Not impressed upon checking in as we had an issue with our booking and were treated like we had done something wrong. Not a warm friendly reception upon arrival. No help trouble shooting booking. Pool was closed for 2 days, air conditioning leaked, safe broken and not replaced so forced to carry valuable belongings. Booked a meeting with GM to discuss grievances and she never showed up. In my opinion it's not a Luxury Boutique and could brush up on customer service. Will definitely not return nor recommend.
I had blast at Sandy Haven celebration of my birthday. Breakfast and dinner excellent The wait staff excellent they made feel family Hotel is beautiful The ocean view was breath taking Thanks for taking care of me CeCe
We booked SHR on a Monday and traveled there on Wednesday - a very, very last minute trip! We booked a package through Apple Vacations, which turned out to be a pretty good deal. Transport from and to the airport, a visit from an agent to check on us - all really good.SHR is just great in most every aspect. The restaurant's dinners were the best we had in Negril. Hot breakfasts were passable. Continental/free breakfast was just okay - you could fill up on muffins and so-so fruit. Pineapple and orange juices had no flavor at all - canned? We booked a partial sea view. We got a big 3rd (top) floor corner room with a large deck and outdoor table and chairs. It had a 120 degree view of the pool, sea and beach. We thought it was perfect for breaks from the sun. The furnishings and fixtures were in great shape and the maid service was great. Tip big your first morning and you will be very well taken care of.The beach bar and bartenders were nice, and fun, with a fluid cast of characters - local and guests. Beach chairs and towels were abundant. No wait service. We had to drag ourselves all the way to the bar if we wanted something. No big deal. Bar prices were pretty reasonable as well.SHR has a great position on the beach - feels like about midway. Go right and just a few hundred yards to Margaritaville, then on to larger all-inclusive resorts. Go left and pass more small hotels that seem to get shabbier the further you go. We had a lunch at the end of the beach that was sketchy at best and a little scary at worst. Good rule of thumb- if it looks dodgy - it is!Across the street from SHR is a jerk stand called Best in the West. Super cheap and great food. Go for the pork. We also went to Ivan's for a sunset and dinner. One of the prettiest places I've ever watch the sun go down. Spectacular. Dinner? Not so much. Only reason to stay for dinner is to try to keep the glow from sunset. Unfortunately, the service was so bad, and the food so mediocre it will stole the glow. Sunset and drinks, oh yeah. Then head out. We really enjoyed Negril and especially SHR. The resort is inexpensive, super nice value for money. Don't hesitate to give it a go, my wife and I will head back there for sure. PS - we snuck in a day of SCUBA diving. Nice, easy dives, reef was good, not memorable, but worth a go.
My husband and I stayed at Sandy Haven Resort for our mini honeymoon. It was a beautiful couple days. Checking in was so easy and they accommodated my husbands request for an odd check in because it was our wedding day so checking in wasn't a priority and they were so understanding. We did not have much staff interaction but the little bits we did, it was professional. Now for the room, it was......AMAZING!! It was beautiful, high ceilings, gorgeous bath tub and ahhhhh, the waterfall shower. Can I have an hallelujah?!?! It was more than I expected. The bed was perfection, not too hard, not too soft, but just right. The balcony was huge and the view was exquisite! The balcony is so big, a hammock would fit perfectly. hint. hint. The food was excellent, I have no complaints. The jerk chicken was so tasty and I loved the breakfast options. My husband and I aren't big drinkers but we each got a Dirty Banana, cost around $15, seemed high and although it was served in a pretty glass your neighboring hotel had a dirty banana that shamed all others. I suggest sending someone over to experience your neighbors because it is truly outstanding. I wish the hotel would consider being an all-inclusive or at least have an all-inclusive option. All in all, I love love love this hotel. I love the size of the hotel and the beach!
My friend and I visited this resort for a period of 10 days and were not disappointed in any wayThe staff on the resort worked very hard to appease the needs of all of their guest, the rooms were kept extremely clean daily Thank you to the housekeeping team for all your hard work, I know that you are the people behind the scene and not always recognized for all you do.The food was very good in restaurant and the bar, the only complaint I have is that the toast should be toasted and the home fries should not sit and then served when they are wilted and cold. The red snapper and fillet mignon were exceptional.Pops thank you so much for all you assistance we appreciate it an to the security lady sorry I did not get her name you were very caring thank you. Disappointed in the managers cocktail party as there were no managers present only staff. Loyette (hope I spelled it correct) you are a true gemWould strongly recommend this resort to anyone and looking forward to returning.
