We stayed at Sandy Haven over Christmas. We had a nice stay at a very clean hotel. The pictures on the hotel website are exaggerated. But still a pretty neat hotel. Positive with a small gym. One of the reasons that we selected this hotel was that on the website states that there are no children under 12 years at the hotel. That is not true. We were very disappointed that both newborns and children playing and shouting occurred. The bartender Romeo was a highlight. Always happy and pleasant.
I wish I was sitting on a lounger at Sandy haven right now. I've been coming to negril for a few years and have stayed at various hotels. Sandy haven is def one I will return to. I've been meaning to check it out for nearly a year. Here is an open and honest review. This is one of the more modern properties in negril, perhaps the most modern on the beach that I've stayed at. I don't like the big resorts, Sandy Haven is a boutique hotel so if you want the all inclusive, this probably isn't the right choice for you. The rooms are spacious and well equipped. The bathroom was enormous!! The property is beautiful and well kept. The pool is nothing special though clean and I did spend time there on my last day (I was depressed about leaving lol). I enjoyed the guests staying there and to me this is a big thing. I travel solo and feeling comfortable is important to me. The guests were friendly, unpretentious and there weren't too many children running around. There was one baby who was the best behaved baby I've seen in Jamaica lol. There is a complimentary continental breakfast included and I saw some people complain about it on here but I was actually impressed. I come from New York City where nothing is free lol, I'll gladly take fresh fruit, muffins, toast, jams, Coffee, juice and mimosa at no expense any day. For the record, they have THE best coffee I've had in negril. Their food and drink costs, were fair for it being a luxury boutique hotel in my opinion. It is not cheap but certainly not the most expensive in the negril (head up to the cliffs for a heavier price tag). I had lunch and breakfast a few times at the hotel. Breakfast was a little slow but tasty as were the lunches. Drinks were big and fantastic. I regret not trying out Bongos for dinner, the menu looked wonderful. I'll be back for that! The staff....were wonderful. Every employee with a smile on their face and really made sure to check on every guest each day. There are dozens of properties in negril but in my experience what sets apart the good from the great hotels are exceptional staff. A few things to note to management though all of these things are very minor....1) my safe wasn't working when I arrived to the room. 2 very nice employees did work diligently to resolve the issue for an hour (and they did). I appreciate the staff fixing this but the safe should have been checked before they had me come to the room. 2) there are some complaints about water temperature in reviews on here. Some people are being a little dramatic, I'll be truthful....the water is not cold, it's just not hot either. It is warm. I prefer the water hotter but I got used to this and it wouldn't defer me from coming back though may be something management could look into it. 3) the menus have a lot to offer in terms of food, Sandy haven would benefit from posting them on their website. I don't think enough people visiting in negril know that they have several restaurants on site. 4) this may be the lush in me....but a happy hour would be lovey here! Quite a few happy hours on the beach so am hoping they will add a daily one here, even if it's just for an hour, it would be warmly welcomed! : )Again all of these things were very minor. I just want to thank the staff again for such a wonderful stay. Please don't ever change, you are what will keep guests coming back! Big up to you all, I will see you again soon! All my love-Talia

They brought menus to the room.and delivered meals and in a timely manner. The staff was very nice and the rooms were very clean and spacious. Negril beaches are the best so no complaints there. Gorgeous white sand! You will love it.
This was my 6th time to Jamaica and my experience at Sandy Haven with my family was amazing. Originally my family was booked to stay at another hotel and after two nights I found Sandy Haven, which was perfect because our friends were staying next door at coco. Jodi, Michelle, Pops, and the rest of the staff were so nice, friendly, and helpful and the room and service was great! Thanks again, we will be back! -Camille
This was our second time to Sandy Haven and will not be our last. Our first visit was December 2015 and the same week this year. This property is truly a hidden GEM. The staff is a family. They care from the minute you enter the gate until the time you leave for home. All of them remembered us from last year and we felt like family when we returned. This resort is ideal if you want to relax and enjoy the culture. The location is in the middle of the seven mile beach, which to me is Prime. Everything was clean and and the staff was extra friendly. The rooms are beautiful. The ocean front view is second to none. The food is great. The service outstanding. We were fortunate to be there at the time they did the staff awards. What a great event to watch all these great people be awarded for their efforts. Antoinette you showed you were proud of your people and so you should be. One day I mentioned our fridge was not cold to the front desk. By the time I walked back to the room there was already someone looking at it and within seconds a new fridge was delivered. How do you top that? We will return again and I would recommend to anyone. If you want to get away from the big all exclusive and enjoy the feeling of being a guest at a little Sandy Haven, this is the place. Merry Christmas from Miller & Miller Lite.
