We just got back from a 5 night trip. Our family had a wonderful time. The food was great, the alcohol selection was fantastic and the entertainment staff was awesome! A shout out to Ashly, Alex, Romano and Roshane. We hung out at the piano bar a couple nights while we were there and really enjoyed Ripton the bartender as well! The surf was too high to enjoy the water sports but that was nothing the resort could control. We plan to try another Beaches next year! Even our 12 and 14 year old enjoyed the Sesame Street characters and enjoyed eating "on their own" throughout the resort while we enjoyed the beach.
We got off of our plane in Montego Bay with great expectations. We went to the Sandals lounge to wait that was nice but nothing overly great. We were told to go with this man with a red hat on he would bring our bags out to the ride for the resort. I was amazed at how old and dirty this van was. We were flying for about seven hours so we were quite tired. The driver would not stop keeping on for us and the other guest to talk to him. He kept yelling "pow-pow" every time we seen the police. He stopped mid way to a rest stop that leaved a little to desire. My six year old was asleep so I told my husband to take our other son in while he slept. The driver then came and said you go in. I said no my son is a sleep. He said I will watch him, I said no I don't leave him he said yes. He kept at me until I ended up waking up my son and take him into the store. When we got to the resort we were greeted with a drink which was nice. We got to our room it was nice with a nice view. We ate at all the restaurants while we were there but our favourite was the French one. Daniel served us every time he was very nice. A couple days in we went back to our room to have a staff member to knock on our door to see if there was water in our washroom. There was it was coming down from the ceiling. They sent a staff member eight thirty at night with a shop vac to suck up the water. This was very inconvenient as my boys go to bed around eight every night. I spent all that night when I went to the washroom with a towel around my back because water used to drip down on us. The last full day I was there I was woke up just after six to the sound of water which was the sprinkler system stuck hitting our door and flooding water in. I went out to the front desk to tell them and they said they would send someone. I got soaked trying to get out and in my room. I went out three times before anyone came and cleaned it up. At that point I had towels soaking up the water so it wouldn't travel any farther. We had to call housekeeping to have tea, coffee and sugar put in our room and then they only put it in one day. Half the time we would be there for ten minutes trying to get our door open because there was something wrong with the doorknob several of staff knew about this and kept saying they would send someone to fix it but never did. I ended up contacting our travel agent they contacted Beaches and they gave us a $150 usd refund. I went to the front desk to see about it and the lady there was rather rude she was kind of making fun of me because she didn't understand the problem. With all the trouble the staff knew we were having you think someone of offered to move us. I don't think we will be staying at Beaches anytime soon. We went with great hopes and left quite disappointed.
Beaches Ochos Rios was wonderful. My daughters and I went for a family vacation over spring break. My only disappointment was the beach. The water was dark and there wasn't much beach to speak of. We spent most of our time at the pool. The food was wonderful, pool bars were great, my daughters loved everything.
This was my family's first time at a resort, and we had an AMAZING time! The staff was phenomenal! From the entertainment crew to the housekeeping staff, we were constantly laughing and engaging in interesting conversations with them! Unfortunately, during the week we were there, we had only two or three days of sun, and the rest was very rainy, but there was always something fun to do! Special shoutout to DJ Milton (Wilton) and Rachel! There were many great staff members, but they both stood out to our family as we built good friendships with them! My mom also came down with a stomach bug our last day there, and the staff opened the gift store at midnight just so she could buy some medicine, so shoutout to the housekeeping staff who helped us with that as well! Our favorite experience at the resort was definitely snorkeling along the coral reef, however, there were many fun things we did there!Overall, great resort for families looking for a fun, relaxing week!
Overall we enjoyed the resort. 4 years ago we visited Beaches Negril and fell in love with the beach. Decided to try Ochos Rios, knowing that the beach wouldn't be as great. However, the beach at Ochos Rios isn't even in the ballpark compared to Negril. Don't go to Ochos Rios if you are going for a great beach, as you will be disappointed. We had one bad experience at Neptune's; ordered our food and after an hour we couldn't wait any longer. Kids camp was pretty good. Our son loved his "teacher" Johnathon and wanted to keep going back. I don't remember his name, but a shout out to the big guy who did the kids boot camp and swim-ercise. All the kids loved that guy.
