Very Relaxing Honeymoon

We were at the resort from October 8-16, 2016 for our honeymoon.ROOMS: Our rooms were well-equipped and had everything we needed. The bed was firm, which was just perfect for us. The balcony overlooking the ocean was wonderful - we would have the double doors opened to let in the breezes. While the room could use a little maintenance and touch-up paint, it is the Caribbean after all, and all that exposure to salty air will take its toll on paint. We would leave a note for housekeeping about what we would like in the fridge, and they were very accommodating. We had a leak in our bathroom faucet, and within an hour, a plumber was taking care of it. Unfortunately, when the tap was fixed, the pipe under the sink became loose, and caused a small flood in the bathroom. We notified the front desk and it was taken care of immediately. Our room was located above the "party" pool, which could get pretty loud during the day. However, when the bar closed promptly at 6pm, the partying stopped, and we enjoyed peace and quiet. The bathroom was ample sized, but we don't really need a ton of space. The walk-in closet was a perk - great for hanging our dressy clothes, and the shelves gave us a space to put our clothing so we didn't have to live out of a suitcase.FOOD: The food in the porch restaurant was okay - not great. It seemed that there were the same items served every meal, every day. That could definitely use a little more variety. We very much enjoyed the pool-side buffet which was put on the first night we arrived. And the beach-front buffet was nothing short of spectacular and romantic. We appreciated having the café which offered more "American" style food - cheeseburgers, French fries, etc - for when we had enough of the Jamaican cuisine. We ate in two of the dressier restaurants, and enjoyed their food selection, presentation and service. Again, it was nice to be able to mix it up a bit. My husband and I suffered from some bowel issues near the end of our trip, but weren't sure if it was all the different foods we had tried, or just our bodies adjusting to the travel. We took advantage of the room service a couple of times. One morning we chose to have breakfast on the patio, and it was so relaxing just to be alone, listening to the water, and having time to talk. A must do while you're at the resort.ON-SITE ACTIVITIES: This resort came highly recommended through our travel agent as having the most activities available right on-site. We did the sunset catamaran cruise, snorkeling trip, glass bottom boat, paddle boarding, massage lessons, trip to Dunn's River Falls, trip to the shopping center, and more. We chose one major activity/excursion to do each day, and that gave us something to look forward to.OFF-SITE ACTIVITIES: The trip to Dunn's River Falls was awesome! We bought the DVD of the trip just to laugh at ourselves. Good water shoes are a must. If you don't have them, the bus will stop at a roadside store on the way. They are $10 at the roadside store, $16 in the resort gift shop. Be will be pressured into buying things by locals coming up to the windows of the bus. If you're not interested in anything, don't get off the bus. When you're done at Dunn's River Falls, the only way out is through the market, where the pressure ramps up a lot! My husband and I tried to stay to ourselves and quietly duck out of there, to no avail. Beware...if it's "free for the lady", the man WILL pay! :-) And they will do everything they can to put things in your hands and start carving out your name or something into the article so that you feel obligated to buy it.The trip to the shopping district felt like a waste of time. A cruise ship was in port, so it was busy, and there was, of course, more high pressure sales. The items for sale were available in nearly every store - there was nothing unique. So, once we chose our gifts for the kids back home, we didn't have much else to do for the next couple of hours.ENTERTAINMENT: There was a wide array of entertainment every night - a magic show, live music, kettle drum band, acrobatic troups, etc. While we didn't attend everything, we enjoyed what was provided.STAFF: The welcoming staff were great and so fun. They remembered our names the entire week we were there, and it felt like when we left, we were leaving our friends behind.OVERALL: We very much enjoyed our week away for our honeymoon. We've already decided that we would like to come back to Jamaica, and try out other Couples' resorts since they did such a good time for this one. And I think we'd prefer to be a little closer to the airport so we can avoid the 2 hour bus ride.

Fantastic romantic all Inclusive resort

We just returned home after a week at CTI. This was our first all inclusive resort in Jamaica, and I don't think we could have picked a better one. This resort is a smaller property compared to some, but that meant one got to know the staff really well. You would also recognize the other vacationers and all were friendly. They price matched the offer I received elsewhere and gave $50 resort credit, so use trip advisor to find the best deal. Usually the term all-inclusive is misnomer with a lot of resorts as well food and drinks might be included, any activity you wanted to try is extra. No so at CTI, almost all activities are included in the list price, whether snorkeling, SCUBA, catamaran trips, golf, or Dunn River Falls. We were never bored while the excellent private beach often called our names.Food was excellent, and easily better than any cruise we have been on.Rooms were smaller, but room service was excellent. If you are into Au Naturel bathing, you have a whole island to yourself. If you are contemplating a trip, I can't recommend this place highly enough. I am already planning our return trip. One benefit of their loyalty program is the ability to do a trading places at one of their other resorts. We visited CSS, but it only proved we chose the best one for us with crystal blue ocean water to snorkel.

Just back from our 1st fantastic visit to CTI. We loved 'evryting' about this resort. The 2 hour ride to & from the airport isn't a bad thing; we had a blast w/ just one other couple on the way there w/ a fun rest stop at the Ultimate Jerk Centre for a rum punch and we got a full guided tour w/ reggae music. Check-in was quick, pleasant & we were guided to our deluxe ocean room by the wonderful Kirk. It speaks volumes that such an engaging man has worked at CTI for 19 years! Far from being old or dated, I think of CTI as "vintage" and Old Jamaica. The whole resort has a retro glam aspect; it reminds you of the jet set Playboy Club era it was part of. The staff is simply superb from porters, event staff, guest relations, bar & wait staff - sorry if I missed anyone! The food & drinks are awesome w/o exception. We loved breakfast at the Patio every day after having coffee, made in the room, while watching the weather and the resort come to life from our balcony. They have everything you can imagine from typical American dishes, savory Jamican specialties, divine pastries & breads, fruits, meats, cheeses, and made to order omelets & waffles. We usually had lunch at the Pool Grill, jerk chicken & meat patties. The self-serve soft-serve ice cream machine can only be described as "dangerous". Jamaican Smiles are delicious; while a Bob Marley is a scary shot! But how many frozen drinks can you have w/o getting full? So I alternated w/ filling my Couples sipper w/ champagne as we floated in the swim up bar pool. Rough life - sigh!We loved 8 Rivers and were able to book it twice, wonderful food, service, gorgeous decor and very upscale. We were usually found in the Piano Bar before/after. The first night we wanted a quick/easy dinner after our travel day and the Patio was so tasty: great salad bar, fresh fish, risotto and veg. And, as always, super desserts with a gorgous view of the main pool and ocean. The resort is simply gorgeous w/ amazing flora and fauna. The trees and flowers are breathtaking; very lush. October is the rainiest month and it rained every day but it just doesn't matter! 1st of all, watching the weather come in, hearing the thunder and seeing lightning over the ocean at night was fantastic. Sometimes we just stayed in the pool while it briefly rained. Another time, decided maybe now is a good time to walk thru the hotel over to the Pool Grill. The nightly symphony of tree frogs and insects you hear is a sound I'll relive until we can get back to our new favorite resort! Haven't really seen anyone mention the Gift Shop but it has beautiful things; souvenirs but also cool clothing and small paintings plus anything you forgot at home. The alternating vendors on the beach are worth a visit and our suitcases barely zipped up when we left. Last but not least, we found the other guests to be fun, cool, unpretentious, chill or pretty much whatever you wanted at that particular time. Age range was 20's to 70+ and all good. It was easy to start a party but equally to just hang as a couple. Couples is just about perfect and I strongly agree with others: if you can't have a fabulous vacation here there is something wrong w/ you; it's not the place. Also an excellent vacation value. Miss u CTI! Can't wait to hear "Welcome Home" next year!

Just returned last night. We came to CTI 16 years ago on our honeymoon. We have been back to JA several times, staying at various resorts that were really nice and 5-stars. I was unsure were to go, and decided it would be neat to go back to where we honeymooned. Boy, did we make the best decision. First, the ride to the resort was awesome! Whoever complains about the ride should just stay home. Interact with your driver, we did and made a lifelong friend! DANNY, was the coolest ever, he was the icing on the cake for the trip. The ride was great. Once we got to the resort, the van opened and we were greeted with open arms and a huge "Welcome Home", along with drinks and cool washcloths. Check-in was a breeze, thanks to the warm friendly faces at the front desk. Gretchen and her team make you feel so good! Our room was clean, nice and had an amazing view (room 3306). Captain Kirk, took care of our stuff and got us quickly to our room. Everyone is friendly at this resort from maintenance to management and go out of your way to make you feel good. There is no way you can be in a bad mood here. I read all the reviews on here before making my decision and feel that if you are not having a good time here, you have to take a look at yourself and the way you treat people. All the guests we interacted with and saw were having a great time, even the one couple who had their A/C leak laughed it off, and it did not ruin there time. Kudos to the worker's here, it says a lot about the hotel when the staff has been here for years! Also, seeing how charitable the hotel is along with the owner's charity Issa Foundation, makes me feel good, knowing we can give back and they give back. So many things to do or nothing to do all; your choice. The bartenders rock at the pool bar, shout out to Angeleke. 8 Rivers restaurant is a must. The hotel does a fabulous Repeat Guests dinner. If you want to go off the resort, request DANNY, everyone knows him. He took us to Scotchies and into town we had a great time....he is the best! Another must is the SPA, splurge on a massage with CLOVER AND KATIE, you will thank me later. The Spa is so tranquil, the ladies there are also sweeties. 5-star service thru out the whole entire visit. They made our Anniversary trip one to remember. We will definitely be returning "HOME" every year now, and already planning another visit with our friends. We look forward to seeing the warm, smiling faces. I will also be pre-booking my massage with CLOVER before I leave as she gets filled fast! Thanks for the beautiful memories. Highly recommend this resort. Feel free to ask me any questions.
