First Time in Jamaica!

We arrived the day after the night storm and were devastated to see the beach with all the debris. We were told immediately that they would start working on it the next morning, no fault of the resort that mother nature did not cooperate. The crew worked hard all day and the next to get it cleaned up and by the time we left six days later no sign of the storm was left! Food and drinks were top notch! I have never ate so much wonderful food in my life! Eight Rivers is a must! Bay-side was okay, but the view made it so much better! The entertainment was awesome, especially the steel drums, my favorite night of all. We never made it the "club" because we wanted to enjoy the outside. The shopping trip was overwhelming and I will never do that again. Pushy sales and they follow you around through the whole store, again not Couples fault. Dunn's River was my favorite and a must do. The Catamaran was excellent and so much fun, I haven't danced that much in a long time. Now the onsite water sports were fine except the sailing. I was so excited to go out on that little boat and the crew member running it ruined our time by asking for a tip. I was so upset that I was told no tipping the staff and he flat out asked for an "In God we Trust" for making our day.. The last three minutes of the sail was very awkward for both my husband and me. The room was nice and comfortable, but nothing special. It was clean and the service was excellent. Anything you needed they would deliver it. We are not the type of people to travel to the same place twice but I will recommend this resort to everyone going to Jamaica!

Couples Tower Isle

This was our first trip to Jamaica and Couples was quite Awesome. :The staff was OUTSTANDING!! I couldn't believe how many people work here. They have a staff of 400 people and they will wait on you hand and foot. I had never done an all inclusive before and it was hard for me not to want to just do something. For example, I was going down to the pool and stopped by the Patio Bar to pick up 2 drinks, and I had a few things in my hands already. The bartender was like "let me have someone walk these down with you". By this time, it was my 6th day here, and I knew that they would have, but I made it work so they didn't have to worry about me. It was also SUPER hard not to tip them too because they're not allowed to accept tip money. The first full day we were there, there was a really horrific storm and the beach was inoperable for basically 3 or 4 days. I honestly think the staff handled it very well considering the circumstances. They moved us to another room at our request as we had leaks coming in from the bathroom ceiling due to the storm. They had music trivia and bingo inside to keep you occupied since the weather was so bad, among the dozen of other things you could do on a rainy day. The staff had NEVER seen anything like it and they did the best they could. Yes, so there were no water sports and you couldn't go to the island for 3 days, but seriously, the ones who've previously complained in their reviews on here saying the staff couldn't handle a crisis situation were probably one of the handful of guests that felt entitled and never said "thank you" to the staff for everything they do. I never came across one negative person that works at Couples, and I talked to a lot of them. The Food was AWESOME at all the restaurants we went to, except Bayside as the menu didn't interest us as much. If you leave hungry at any point in time, it's you're own fault. Make a reservation at the Eight Rivers, that is a must, no excuse not to go there, and gentleman will need nice pants, a collared shirt and dress shoes to go, no jeans. The buffet at breakfast and lunch and dinner was great at the Patio. They love grilled snapper. They always had live entertainment every night at the Patio and it was a nice variety of singers and musicians and characters.Pools were great, but sometimes you have to get there early to get a seat if that's were you want to be, like before 10. They give you 2 beach towels in the room, but they have spares in the gym and next to the Patio Buffet if you need more. There's TONS of loungers on the beach, and what's nice too is they have floating devices on the chairs if you want to lounge on it in the pool. There is a swim up bar that is separate from the main pool, and they'll have trivia games, etc...to play with other couples if you want to participate or not. There is a nightclub there that's open from 10:30-2am and it's kind of hidden. Say hi to DJ Smooch! The gym was nice considering. The treadmills are a little deceiving in regards to speed and time (and if you did run on the treadmill, no, you really didn't run 3 miles in 15 minutes). The game room has a pool table and a ping pong table.Once it was nice out, they had a staff on the beach that let you show you how to windsurf, paddle, etc...and then do it on you're own as they supervised you. All in all, this place was pretty awesome and the staff makes it a great place. Thank the staff even for the littlest of things because they do appreciate it.

Clean, hospitable, great food

This facility was super clean, the staff were friendly and attentive if you indicated that was what you wanted. The rooms were bright, comfortable and airy. The food was excellent, the best overall of any all inclusive we have stayed at. I don't exaggerate that I had the best meal of my life - thanks to Eight Rivers. E.R. is one of the places you need to make a reservation at. The other location that requires reservations, Bayside, must have been having an off night when we dined there. My honey and I both were very underwhelmed. (Overdone appetizers, salad seemed watery, soup was tepid and portions of dessert seemed stale. Entree was very tasty, though)This resort offers two free excursions, they were both amazing. Dunn's River Falls and the catamaran cruise were fun and staffed with knowledgeable and fun folk. We were warned the vendors at the Falls can be aggressive, and so avoided the tourist trap that follows the falls hike.We did not get to experience all the water sports we wanted to, as a heavy rain storm shut down the beach all day Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The resort staff worked very hard with contractors using heavy construction equipment and chainsaws practically day and night to clear things up. The staff we scuba and snorkeled with were all very knowledgeable. Winsome at the spa gave me an amazing hot stone massage that left me feeling 10 years younger. The spa was nice, the ladies that staffed it very friendly and attentive. I paid around $200 for an 85 minute session, and Winsome's expert touch made it completely worth it.This review might have made five stars had management been more accommodating or expressed they cared about guests being inconvenienced by the beach closure and lack of water sport activities. We met (briefly) with the property manager. Although I am sure it was the circumstances, he seemed too busy to give us any options. Phone and internet were also effected by the storm, we had trouble getting through to our travel agent or emailing family - probably due to the flooding. That only added to our frustration over the closures.Extraordinary events, but my husband and I are not likely to visit this resort or another Couples resort going forward. With all the fabulous properties out there, our experience here was tilted just enough to the negative that we will be looking elsewhere.

First trip to Jamaica

We had researched the Couple Towers Isle a lot so it took a little of the excitement off. We had a premier ocean view which was great. On the 4th night heavy inland rains flooded the rivers dumping an amazing amount of trees into the beach area. It shut all water activities down for almost 4 days. Food was good but not great. Room had water blow in from storm off of balcony. Room service was great. Pools were great. Bartenders lacked personality I thought. Most of staff though were very friendly. It was hot for me in the 8 Rivers restaurant and food lacked flavor there.Piano bar was fun except it too was hot and steamy at night.Overall we enjoyed a relaxing stay and I liked that resort was not to big to walk from end to end. We would visit again. The debris kinda killed all the water activities and the view. They needed more people and equipment to clean it up.They had some good entertainment. Bathrooms in rooms needed updating in my opinion.
